I've been to Hair by Violet twice. The service was okay, and the staff was friendly, but honestly,…read moreboth times the salon was really dirty. It didn't feel safe or sanitary I didn't even want to grab a drink there, worried I might catch something. For a salon in Beverly Hills, it's a huge letdown. It doesn't feel luxurious at all honestly, it feels more like economy class. Because of how unclean it is, I definitely won't be going back, even though I liked the service. Totally disappointed. I would like to clarify my position. I do not know who specifically responded to my review, as I have not met this person as a stylist. I have not even seen you in the salon personally, and I can only speak based on what I observed myself. I saw another guy and many other women. My name in the booking was written differently than in my email, from which I made the appointment, and my second visit was scheduled by phone. I do not intend to return to this salon, nor am I requesting any compensation. My review reflects my personal observations and an honest description of what I witnessed. I am expressing my opinion as a client who values cleanliness, professionalism, and comfort, but encountered a situation that did not meet these standards. I hope my review helps others make an informed decision about visiting this salon.

Michael is West Hollywood's best kept secret. His in-depth knowledge and level of research for hair…read moreand scalp health, allergies and chemistry is parallel to none. I have been struggling with a severe allergy to hair color with PPD and peroxide for over 15 years. Michael took the time to consult with me and do multiple patch test after carefully listening and evaluating my "hairstory" through an unhurried conversation. I shared the seriousness of my allergy and how I have had cortisone shots in urgent care to calm downthe horrific reactions I was experiencing (hives and blisters that would burst and leave me unable to function for days). It was imperative that the product not touch my scalp and he understood. He carefully customized a blend for me that would not only cover the grey, but weaved it in carefully with foil packets so as to not touch my scalp. The end result was a vibrant and rich chestnut brown with golden sparkles peeping throughout. While the roots are still grey, I am so very pleased with the results. I am thrilled to report that my hair is healthy, the color looks awesome and that I have no reaction at all and it has been 2 and a half weeks. And he was even able to handle my coils and kinks perfectly. This level of care, attention to detail, knowledge and professionalism can't be beat. Anyone who has an allergy to hair color should consider having a visit with Michael. This is his wheelhouse and it shows. Thank you, Michael!

As a mixed person with curly hair, I was a little nervous about both, but I'm so glad I decided to give it a shot after seeing all the great reviews. My hair has never been so smooth, soft, or straight--it looked amazing when I left the salon, and the treatment has lasted almost 4 months! I'm definitely planning to go back soon and would highly recommend Michael to anyone, especially curly-haired girls.

Two photos my hair before the haircut -- taken with the front camera, no filter, no beauty mode,…read morecompletely unedited. Two photos my hair after the haircut. First of all, I want to say that Yuki is a very nice person, and this review is not personal in any way. I also completely understand that for some people, paying $220 plus tip (around $270) for a trim is totally normal, and I'm sure many clients are very happy at this price point. However, this price point does not match my personal understanding of what $270 represents for a haircut in LA. For me, when I pay this amount, I am paying not just for time, but for the stylist's professional judgment and their understanding of beauty -- meaning there should be some meaningful adjustment or improvement based on my original haircut. In my case, my hair has two layers. On the lower layer, it was mainly blow-dried and cut slightly flatter to look heavier, which took less than five minutes. On the upper layer, there were literally about three small cuts to add texture. I am not even commenting on whether the result is good or bad -- but objectively, the change is extremely minimal. After multiple haircuts in LA, at this price level, I personally expect to see a noticeable difference. At this moment, I honestly can't tell if my hair looks any different from before, and I'm not even sure if it will look better after washing. As today's result contributed by professional blow-dry. I hesitated a lot before writing this review. But I realized that when your expectation and your budget are well matched before a haircut, the whole experience can be very comfortable and positive. When they are not well matched, it becomes a lose-lose situation. The stylist did spend a full hour providing the service, and I did receive that service for an hour. But the service itself did not match what I had prepared to pay for. At that point, you cannot refuse to pay, but you also feel quite uncomfortable after paying. This review is mainly for those who are relatively sensitive at this price point. If your budget is very comfortable, your hair structure is already very good, and you are happy with just a very simple trim on top of an existing style, then this may be totally fine for you. The products, washing, blow-drying, and overall environment are all very good, and the general experience itself is pleasant. This is simply my personal experience and expectation at this price level.
