When the price is low, you pay with time and deal with students who are still learning their skills. I was there for 2 hours and the person who was going to finish school in a month didn't know how to cut bangs or make hair length even. When she washed my hair, the water temperature was either too cold or too hot, I had to tell her to adjust temperature several times and when she was washing my hair, her fingers bumped my head several times, it was not smooth. She had to have her instructor help her throughout the haircut. That's not what would expect when someone who is almost done with salon school. read more

It must be a place to promote learning and grow up of the students, a place to help students to reach their potential, instead they use to see students and treats them offhand, hard to say but bulling from directives to latino students is very markable in special from a spanish speaker directive, it is a shame that this institute has that kind of persons dropping in the floor all that kindness they spread when you enroll with them, so it becomes a very bad experience to return never again. read more

The amount of compassion Wren, et al, took to take care of my young adult's hair that had become completed matted is beyond extraordinary! I was recommended this salon for my daughter as they were providing cuts at a local Pride festival. Wren took the time to be gentle, caring, and non judgmental. I love going to PM in Provo. I have been going for approximately 13 years. The services, staff and future professionals are amazing. I give them 5+ Stars. The 1 Star is for their new way to make appointments. They now use a call center, I'm guessing from outside of US. The people making the appointments have no clue about what the services are called when you tell them what you need to do. They will tell you you can't book multiple services and need to schedule another day. But if you are able to contact someone at the school, there is time for a simple service like a brow wax to be included. The Online scheduling is even worse. You cannot book with a future professional. It says they have no appointments avaliable no matter how far you scan ahead. You must be put on a wait list. A call center and online scheduling was NOT the way to go to keep clients coming back. It's so frustrating. read more

This school was the most toxic environment I have ever been in. I went to the school from 2011 to 2012. I was a bullied by instructors so horribly I dropped out and re-enrolled in the Paul Mitchell school in Phoenix. All of the instructors were extremely LDS and were extremely judgmental of the students that were not. One of the instructors started a rumor that I worked at a Strip Club and soon the whole school thought it was true. I would never suggest anyone attend the school for a quality education. read more

I got layers but was there for 4-5 hours. If you have curly hair, don't let them blow dry your hair because they do not know how to leave a dry smooth finish for curly hair with a blow dryer so they will end up having to take another hour to straighten your hair leaving it flatter than you may like. They needed to take smaller sections of hair and really take their time to leave a dry finish. I did not have enough neck strength for the large sections they were taking. My hair stylist was a nice person and i hope the school takes the time to really master blow drying curly hair in general. read more

I was never a huge fan of hair schools as a place to go get my hair done, however my stylist who has been cutting my hair for years now and does a great fade and has exceptional attention to detail, recently started working here and recommended I go here for a cut and other things. I was hesitant but thought it wouldn't be the end of my fashion work if it went poorly since it would be so cheap! I came in for a perm and it looks fantastic, and it was incredibly cheap, half the price of a regular perm! I loved it so much, the my girlfriend now comes here to get her hair done. read more

I got my hair dyed with a cool design thinking it would look good but miss girl Victoria didn't know what she was doing and let my blue bleed into my white hair, ruining my brand, new bleached, white hair. Then Miss girl proceeds to make me pay the full price for my hair. Truly disgusted. I'm generally a huge apologist for this place. I've come here for years and the only time I was ever unhappy with my haircut they offered me a discount on the next one. They do take longer than other places but they're also a lot cheaper so I figure it's usually worth the savings. Having said that, they NEED to work out their scheduling. The last THREE times I made an appointment it has had to be moved due to having been scheduled during a class or something. One of those times it had to be moved TWICE for the same reason so, actually it's happened 4 times. Also, there appears to be an option for you to schedule online but you can't really. You can request a time and then they call you to tell you which one you can have. In 2016 it's Ridiculous for a chain of their size to not have a real way to schedule online. I also don't appreciate the attempts at upselling me on products after I just spent $50 on my hair. If I like a product they used I'll ask about it but I don't want you to try and talk me into it. It's the cheapest haircut you'll find that's not from supercuts and it's almost always fine but there are some serious issues that need to be worked out. read more

Great place and staff, my appointment was on time. It took longer to get the haircut done than regular salon, but that's why they called it "the school". Both the student and instructor were very professional and they really wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with the look. They even blow dried and styled my hair at the end. First I want to say that the students here are always very friendly, the one-star review pertains to the end results of appointments. I went in for a perm today. After 5 hours (some of the most painful of my life), I ended up with something completely different than what I wanted and what I had discussed with the hair stylist. I look like Weird Al Yankovich. Even though it wasn't what I expected, I'm really not too picky about my hair, but even with this look, there are multiple chunks of my hair that are straight all over my head. I noticed these straight chunks after the 10-minute ride home from the salon. I should have learned my lesson after I went in lighten my hair a few years ago (I have light brown/red hair and wanted to get it a bit more light and red) and came away with purple hair. I think that haircuts and short-term styling are the safe bet. But I wouldn't come here for something more permanent (if you'll pardon the pun). read more

I get haircuts here every two or three weeks from Brittany. I have a VIP pass that was $30 that gives me unlimited haircuts for a year so that saves me money. Brittany always does a good job and she is pretty quick too. If you come here ask for her. read more

A friend recommended the scalp treatment to me, and for a measly $7, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out. The school itself is pretty industrial (making the music a little loud), but it's very clean. I was paired with Victoria, who unfortunately graduates in December. The scalp treatment itself is awesome, and I highly recommend it! It's basically a $7 scalp massage with the perks of tea tree oil based product. Victoria was very thorough, and I intend on being a repeat customer of hers till she leaves. My only complaint is that you can only leave gratuity if you have cash, and I wasn't told beforehand when I made the appointment, so I couldn't leave anything for her. So bring cash!!! read more

She was sensitive to my needs and was so great in recommending products and advice for my scalp (I have eczema and psoriasis and it gets pretty bad). As a student this was a very toxic environment and I dreaded going to school each day. The only thing that I enjoyed was some of the staff and the friends I made. This school is extremely outdated and they don't keep up with their inventory so things are always out of stock. The management was extremely rude and manipulative, if you have a problem with how things are going they just get defensive rather than doing what needs to be done. Many of the students felt that you needed to be on the management's "good side" otherwise it would be literal hell. In my 14 months at this school I bet I saw at least 5 girls leaving the management's office sobbing out of anger and frustration. They don't know what they're doing, especially when it comes to financial aid. At one point they were handing out checks left and right calling it "free money" and saying you don't have to pay it back... which was completely incorrect. I think this school has the potential to be great but the management is just awful. Very unprofessional and they have no idea what they're doing. I kid you not, 9/10 of my classmates felt the same way... I HIGHLY advise against going to this school! read more

If you want to try an amazing shine and color then try the XG shine. Your hair shines for a good 6 weeks. Plus at the school you get it done for an affordable price. This place is pretty affordable and totally worth it. I went in for highlights two times and I was happy with the result both times. Ashley is my new go to hair dresser. She was helping my girl the first time I went in because she had some free time. She made me feel comfortable and the foils she did were really good and she was extra gentle like I asked so I requested her for my second time and she was great. I came back for a trim with her and it was perfect. There was a girl named Makayla that helped a little with my hair the first time too and I would trust her with my hair. She could tell that I was nervous and kept explaining to me what was happening. The instructors here check on people several times during the appointments so don't be turned off by the fact that they're students cause they're very well supervised. read more

Worst school EVER! My daughter is enrolled here... I pay 16,500$ for the school and show up at 3:32...2 minutes late for his appointment and they say "sorry we don't take clients after 3:30" I politely say I am her mother...this is her little brother and she is doing a 15 minute hair cut... You close at 4:30 and that is plenty of time to accomplish that. He snootily responds I'm sorry it's our policy to not take clients past 3:30 I'm like... Your joking right? I'm her freaking Mom and I pay your hourly wage with my money!?? So you'd rather hersit around for an hour... Not take a client... Stand around until 4:30 ... Instead of making your company money? We aren't here for a color or a long tedious apt... It's a little boys hair cut?! Hello? It's not rocket science As I've sat here for 20 min it's still not even 4... We could have been done by now!! And another just girl came up talking about how she was here for 8 hours and didn't get a lunch or a break... Which is against the law?! Hello!? I've heard nothing but negative from all the students past and present... This school is an embarrassment to the Paul Mitchell name. Anyone thinking about going here should NOT attend this location in Provo! Last week the teachers lap top popped up porn in the middle of his demo for the class from his PowerPoint.... It is horribly run and will be a complete disaster as it has been in the case with all those Ive spoken to that attends here. Terrible! Don't go to this salon! They completely messed up my hair! I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone unless you want to pay for a high-end service done by students; who are not accountable for their mistakes! I wanted a light brown color and I end up having a black hair (even darker thank my natural). You have to sign an agreement of whether you like it or not, you have to pay so that they can practice with your hair. Apparently you pay for the material but trust me...you will be charged a lot more! Almost the same as if you go to Shep Studio, which by the way is the best salon in Utah! read more
