And they rarely if ever need to dial ate or numb your eyes so no annoying drops every time you set foot in their office!! The new office is Laguna Eyes and Dr Harrison is wonderful! Dr. Prendiville recommended that I needed a simple procedure done called an Iriodotomy which was supposed to eliminate pressure in my eyes. After failing in doing this procedure via laser, he suggested that I have it done the old fashioned way, by scalpel. Both attempts at doing this surgery resulted in me being partially blind in my left eye along with a large hole bigger than my pupil which required another surgery to correct. The third surgery was done by another more qualified eye surgeon to correct. Dr. Prendaville is a "quack" in my honest opinion and should no longer be in practice. Any person that is going to have surgery done by this doctor needs to seek another doctor. This guy should have his medical license revoked!!! Worst doctor on the planet!!! read more

I have been going to Dr Prendiville for several years and he is a good doctor. I am not sure what happened to his office and his staff, especially his MANAGER, whose rude and unprofessional attitude makes it clear that patient care is not their priority. I spoke with two women, and I must say they are mentally dysfunctional and so unbelievably disrespectful. They only talk about money and don't care about humans. They should be working on the farm with pigs and cows. I'm sick of my stomach to know this doctor can hire such low-level humans. read more

I had an excellent experience with Dr Prendiville and staff. He suggested cataract surgery 4 years prior, but it wasn't until I could not pass the DMV test that I decided I would have the surgery rather than lose my license. I was pretty terrified, but now I can't believe I waited so long. Dr Prendiville did the eyes a month a part. I felt no pain at all. After surgery, I peeked through the bandage and the result was immediate. I could not get over the clarity and color difference. Just Wow. I was excited to do the second eye. I just had the one year followup, and all is a-ok. The experience was better than expected and pain-free. Highly recommend. read more

Not a good experience with Dr. Prendiville. The first time, he did not want to provide any service. He just said ok, go back and make a new appointment. Never go back again. He is working for money, not for his patients. He is hunger, doctor that I have never seen before in the world. He is a quack and should no longer be in practice. This guy is not professional at all. He was polite at our first visit, but unfortunately Dr Prendiville messed up my Dad's cataract surgery very badly. We immediately went to a different ophthalmologist who repaired some of the damage Dr Prendiville did. I hope this helps someone avoid him, we learned too late that Dr Prendiville is well known amongst doctors for being incompetent. read more

I was referred to Dr. Prendeville to have a cataract removed a couple of months ago. The exam was okay, nothing special. A few days later I received a call from a member of the doctor's staff. She wanted to discuss with me the procedure for having the cataract removed and the dates when it could be done. When I was told that I needed to be cleared by my primary physician, I asked her why I had to do this since he had just cleared recently cleared me. She said that is how it's done. So I rephrased the question why I had to be cleared by my primary physician a second time since it had just been recently done. At this point, she raised her voice and barked at me, "That's the way it's done and there is no room for negotiation." I was taken back by the way she spoke to me. I did not appreciate being yelled at or talked down to. I then received an email thanking me for the phone call! What??? After thinking about it and looking at the reviews here, I asked for a referral to another ophthalmologist. What was forgotten is that I am a human being, not a number, and I will not tolerate disrespect. Sadly, Dr. Prendeville lost a patient. I hope that the staff member who treated me this way reads it. I wonder how many other patients were lost due to her horrible attitude...One last thing....why don't they validate parking? The only place to park is in the parking garage. I have another doctor in the same building and parking is always validated by him. read more

I am posting this for my mom because she does not use yelp. Yes many people in their 80's don't use yelp, I did get her a smart phone this year and she is getting better so look out. Here is what happened Mom went to the ER for a severe headache and was told to see the eye doctor because they told her it was her eye. Dr. Prendivile was called in to see her as it was an emergency. She actually could not see in her one eye it was so bad. Dr. Prendiville stayed by her side administering eye drops until the problem corrected. She raves about him and how "He saved my sight" He was so patient and waited and tested her eyes using the eye drops until the pressures came down. He did not send her away or rush off. He stayed there most of the day she tells me. Thank you Dr Prendiville. read more

He has a great "bedside manner" and is very thorough in his explanations. I have always felt his staff is courteous and friendly toward me and I only go in a couple times a year. I have now spoken to 6 other patients of Dr Prendiville who have lost their vision partially or had their lives majorly impacted by the ineptness of Dr Prendiville & his surgical procedure. I have also found that he has 3 reports to the California medical board ..run away from him ASAP In addition to having little to no vision & much discomfort and pain - for the past 3.5 months since he performed what should have been a "simple cataract surgery" ( which was not necessary as my cataract was immature). He or the surgical center broke capillaries along my cheekbone by taping the plastic shield too tightly post surgery. Also, I asked for my medical records so I could go to a qualified Ophthalmologist --I was told for 3 days that they would be ready. On the day of my last appointment in the office, I again asked and was told that "the Dr has them with him" ...why in the world would my records be out of the office ? My Husband and I have been patients of Dr. Prendiville for several years. Three weeks ago he preformed cataract surgery on my husband's right eye. We opted for the newer type lens. My husband is amazed at the change in his vision. He can see perfectly with the new lens and doesn't even need drugstore glasses for close up any longer. He can't wait to have the second eye done. I attempted to make an appointment today without success before I read the reviews and now I am actually glad I was not able to get an appointment The appointment clerk, who's first name was Shelly was unable to answer my questions, became more concerned about my insurance then she was about helping me, kept going off line and then after 10 minutes of trying to get an appointment refused to confirm a date when I told her I had to get off the phone to take care of an infant. She was very insistent on getting the particulars of both of my insurances before letting me hang up. So much for patient care or concern. read more

I have known the Prendiville family my entire life. Our parents went to school together. When I started having problems with my vision, I asked two of my Doctor friends for a referral and both independently recommended Dr. Prendiville. He first diagnosed me with a Macular hole in my left eye and sent me to Dr. Timothy You for surgery. I had the surgery on December 27, 2016. I was warned that the surgery would likely cause a Cataract. Yesterday, Dr. Prendiville performed cataract surgery on my left eye and as a result, my vision has been restored to 20/30 just today and I am told it will even improve from here. I would whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Prendiville. He is smart, always answers my questions (I'm a lawyer and have many) and is a great person and Doctor! read more

I already wrote a review about this doctor. He seems like a nice guy, but I feel that in my case he was very negligent. I had cataract surgery and the result was very bad. He cut into my vitreous gel and then had to suture it. The next day my eye was completely black and my vision was like looking through brown sunglasses. It took quite a while for my eye to clear up and when it did I was shocked at how extremely far-sighted I had become. I now need a magnifying lens to see in the distance. I would not recommend for anyone to have cataract surgery with this doctor. read more

I have gone to Dr. Paul Prenderville for about 20 years, and found him to be very professional, listened to what I had to say and a skilled Doctor. So I was surprised to read the review a previous person wrote, about his "bedside manner" I have no desire to have him at my "beside", I just want him to be a skilled professional and "do no harm". First of all, the person that left a review before me (Daphne B.) with only 2 stars talking about Dr. P's bedside manners not being good must truly be out of her mind! I was very surprised to see her review with such low scores! No offense to Daphne B., but in the last 16 years that I have known and been seeing Dr. P, I have only seen nothing but top notch professionalism, incredible knowledge, genuine care and the utmost courtesy towards me and his other patients! im truly surprised to see this review...! I myself only have one word to describe how great and genuine Dr. Prendiville is...and that is "WoW!!!" I have sooo much respect and sooo many great things to say about this doctor that i can literally write all day!!!... First of all let me start by saying, as i mentioned above, that I have been one of his patients for over 16 years! I had glaucoma since the age of 11, and Dr. Prendiville did my glaucoma surgery in 1997! If i am not mistaking, he was in his first year of residency at that time and he did such an amazing job that until this day every doctor that has examined me only has one thing to say!...."Wow, who did your glaucoma surgery? They did a great job! Very clean!"... I have seen many many doctors in the course of the past 16 years...UCLA associate professors, great doctors with many many years of experience and at least a dozen other eye doctors specializing in glaucoma surgery, cataract surgery, lasik surgery, muscle surgery, retina specialists, you name it, i have seen them! I have not felt or seen the genuine care that Dr. P has always shown towards me from any other doctor!! There have been times when other doctors have urged me to go forward with lasik and cataract surgery before i really had to, but Dr. P has always looked out for my eyes safety first and a lot of times has encouraged me otherwise... Many times i have wanted to do simple surgeries as well...with minimal risk...but only having vision in one eye, instead of Dr. P thinking about his pocket, he has always looked out for me!...whats best for me...and protecting my only source of vision and keeping me away from things that can potentially cause me to completely lose my eyesight! Other doctors were ready to jump at the chance of doing surgery to make $4,000+...but Dr. P kept me away from it and I am so thankful and grateful to him! Recently Dr. P performed cataract surgery on my right eye...my only eye...which was at a -13.00! Very nearsighted! However, my cataract was at a point where it was causing pressure in my eye which could of led to glaucoma in my right eye as well, which would eventually cause loss of eyesight completely! Dr. P did such a great job with my eye and not only did he fix the problem in my only good eye, but as a result my eyesight was restored 95%!!! After surgery...i must of drove him crazy with every little thing that i was feeling in my eye (standard/common things associated with post surgery. minor pains...etc...) He always always returned my calls very quickly, continued to communicate with me via email/phone, changed his entire busy schedule around more than 6 times to fit me in.... I just dont know how else to describe his care! He does hundreds of surgeries every month...has a very busy schedule...and yet still manages to show personalized care to all his patients! I also noticed that he doesnt have that many reviews....i think this is because most of his patients are elderly! I guess they dont know how to use the computer, let alone leave a yelp review! However, i felt obligated to set the record straight and tell everyone my experience!! At this point Dr. P is simply family to me and just like family i had to protect his good name and let you guys know that he truly is awesome! His 17+ years as a surgeon, his top notch education/experience from Doheny/USC...his genuine care about his patients makes him a doctor that has become a doctor for the right reasons..to help and heal people! As far his bedside manners...the only thing i can say is that, Daphne B may have possibly misread the situation! When i had surgery...Dr. P came over, spoke with me, assured me of everything...I felt very confident and always have full trust in him! I allowed him to perform a risky operation on my only eye which could of caused retina detachments and loss of vision! But Dr. P just has such a clean hand...he did an amazing job! Im just really happy with him and i would take my child to see him if need be and my parents and i recommend everyone to him! I chose him over a UCLA professor who is the chief of glaucoma at Jules Eye Institute and ill choose him over 50 professors any day! All i have to say is THANK YOU Dr. P for saving my vision in 1997 and for restoring my vision and giving me a second chance in life 2 months ago!...and for the amazing care!
