Without going into a full blown harrowing story of my life let's just say my Botched experience was so bad that I quit my career job because I was a B2B client facing sales executive. I lost all my friends because I would not go out anymore and even contemplated suicide. Life was over for me. Making no money I had started a new career where I could hide behind a phone. At that time starting 15 years ago I began making and going to as many Facial Surgeons as I could...I hit almost every Facial surgeon between Arizona and California. I bet it was close to a 1000 surgeons over the years and even found and hired one in Newport CA. that was well known around the world for his craft. Long and short of this part of my story is that not even the DR that works on half of Hollywood could help me. He tried but he just couldn't do it. I had a great experience and paid a ton of money but still the problem was not taken care of. Okay so at this point of my experience let me tell you a little more detail of this Facial procedure that happen to me. The Botch was easy. That Doc had injected who knows how many cc's of a permanent product called Artifill into the sides of my chin. Artifill is basically cement. I had cement injected onto my chin bone making me look like I had somehow stuffed a golfballs under my skin on each side of my chin. It was horrible. So now you can envision the problem I had. I looked like a totally different person. Let's go to now it's 2020 and I am still on the hunt for a Facial Surgeon that could remove this product. Amongst all the issues surrounding this Artifill product the feedback I had learned over the years was it will be impossible to remove not only because it is permanent but it is also attached to a main nerve in my face that helps produce saliva. That alone scared off 90% of the Surgeons and the 9% that thought they could do it I didn't trust...I didn't get that gut feeling. 1% - Dr Paul Holden.......I somehow networked my way to him. God definitely put me in contact with him. After multiple consultations I made the appointment. Today is 2 months after and I'm literally crying while writing this. If you're like me you probably read the most recent reviews and the negative reviews for most…read moreplaces, so I'll try to speak to what I've read in comparison to my experience. I'll also start this review by saying I'm probably one of the easiest patients any doctor will have to deal with - my friend is a plastic surgeon and have friends who are doctors that I can bother incessantly with questions instead of Dr. Admire. In regards to the procedure itself, I had a lip lift. I'll probably write a more in depth review about the actual procedure on Real Self since that's where most people go to look at results. That being said, unless my lip falls off or I somehow find out Dr. Admire likes to kick puppies in his free time, I don't see my five star review changing any time soon. First off, everyone I worked with was amazing. Brittany, the patient coordinator, who you'll start off with first, was great. She reminds me of me working with customers in sales - you can tell she's genuinely excited for you and believes in the work Dr. Admire does. I can see if you're from the East coast or are more reserved, this probably comes across as insincere or sales-y, but it's just how some of us are! For people upset that you work primarily with her and Ashley - I promise you that you don't want any doctor going over paperwork or the minutiae with you. Next, you'll meet with Dr. Admire. I didn't feel like he rushed me or was impatient with any questions I may have had. That being said, you're probably looking at a MAJOR procedure if you're meeting with him. I would expect that you've done some research in to the procedure itself and didn't just do this as a spur of a moment type of thing so I can see if you come in like a window shopper, the doctor may be less inclined to spend additional time with you. I had researched different surgeons, techniques, results, complications, recovery, cost (shout to Brittany for ripping that band aid off and telling me right away how much it would be!) and had been looking at doing this for years. I also chose Dr. Admire because I wanted someone I could trust to take all the artistic/creative liberties with my lips/face and look at the procedure objectively. Anyone who's had fillers knows you get some facial distortion and may overdo it. Not something you want with a permanent procedure. The procedure itself was as expected (again, do some research and read different people's experience and also listen to your doctor on what to expect). The surgery center staff was super nice and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I was off my ADHD meds for the day and nervous and they were patient (no pun intended) while I was kind of bouncing off the walls. Also, pro-tip for surgery: always ask for extra blankets. I think I forgot where exactly Ashley, the nurse that works with Dr. Admire, came in to play. But she's great. Also genuinely excited for you and helpful with answering any questions and walking you through what to expect. Both Ashley and Brittany took plenty of time to go over paperwork and pre-op and post-op instructions so you never feel like you don't know what the next step is going to be. The front office staff is super responsive and helpful as well. I had a small snafu with my prescription the doctor wrote for me and they solved it in literally 10 minutes and sent me a text follow-up since I was driving. I'm sure if I had questions directly for Brittany, Ashley or Dr. Admire that they would have been similarly responsive and helpful. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better experience! In April 2024, I underwent a bilateral brow lift, a periorbital fat injection, and a lip lift performed by Dr. Anthony Admire in Scottsdale. The total cost of my surgery was $16,850. To be fair, the periorbital fat injection lasted less than a month. I knew beforehand that fat grafting can be unpredictable, so although I was disappointed, I accepted that possibility and did not fault Dr. Admire for it. What I cannot accept is how I was treated afterward. During one of my first postoperative visits, I expressed concerns about my brow lift. Rather than listening or examining my concerns thoughtfully, Dr. Admire dismissed me by telling me, "You look in the mirror too much." He instructed me to come back at the one-year mark. When I returned a year later, I mentioned that I had received Botox. His reaction was shocking. He threw his arms into the air, paced around the room, and repeatedly said, "That's what happened. That's what caused it." This explanation made little sense to me, as Botox relaxes the muscles and is commonly used to help maintain cosmetic results--not cause the brows to suddenly fail. Instead of having a professional discussion about why my results had deteriorated so quickly, I felt blamed and dismissed. Over the next year, my disappointment only grew. Brow lifts are generally expected to last many years, often five to ten depending on the patient and technique. Mine failed in approximately two years, leaving me needing another brow lift far sooner than I ever anticipated. At the two-year mark, I called the office simply to ask how long a brow lift is generally expected to last. I was told Dr. Admire was in surgery and would return my call later that day. He never did. That unanswered phone call became symbolic of my entire experience. My greatest disappointment isn't only the surgical outcome. Cosmetic surgery carries risks, and no surgeon can guarantee perfection. What patients should be able to expect, however, is honesty, accountability, compassion, and respect when concerns arise. Instead, I experienced dismissiveness, defensiveness, and a lack of empathy. I never felt that my concerns were genuinely heard or taken seriously. I have since undergone a second brow lift with another surgeon. The difference in communication, professionalism, and patient care has been remarkable, and it has reinforced just how poorly I was treated during my experience with Dr. Admire. I delayed writing this review for two years because I wanted to be certain my emotions were not speaking louder than the facts. Unfortunately, time has only confirmed my feelings. I hope anyone considering cosmetic surgery understands that choosing a surgeon involves far more than before-and-after photographs or online ratings. Technical skill matters, but so do character, accountability, compassion, and how a physician responds when a patient is unhappy.
