Just applied the medications in my eye without explaining what the medication was and what she will be doing. She did not explain to me the results of the eye xrays, her diagnosis - nothing. She just told Me she will inject my eye and then she did - it WAS PAINFUL! I ended up going back to my previous eye specialist even if I had to drive 45 miles away. I prefer my doctor being transparent with me, discussing the diagnosis, what meds I will be getting and just good bedside manner.

I had discussed my cataracts with Dr Langford who…read moreis also part of the group and he told me about a new procedure that came out towards the end of covid, called LAL or Light Adjustable Lenses. It's a new way of doing cataract surgery completely by Robotics and Laser. What intrigued me, was having the ability to adjust the lenses after placement, up to 3 times, with 90 seconds of UV light. They accepted Medicare payment as partial payment as this procedure was pretty expensive. I paid the rest out of pocket What made me a good candidate for this procedure was the fact that I didn't have any other eye problems and I had worn mono vision contacts for over 25 years so my brain was able to process having one eye dedicated to near vision and one eye for far vision, easily. It's a quick process to do because the lenses are thin and heal quickly. I had one eye done on a Monday and the 2nd eye on Wednesday. By Thursday I had spectacular, clear vision. For now I have to wear UV protection glasses inside and outside. I have my first adjustment follow-up in a week. At that time I can adjust just a little bit of my near vision. If I'm happy with those results I'll go back in and they will seal my rx with UV light as well. If they still aren't perfect for what I want, I have two more adjustments that can be made. After my eyes are sealed I have a 95% chance of never wearing glasses again, except for my Maui Jim sunglasses or course. It's truly a groundbreaking procedure and Dr Davidson and Langford are 2 of the most experienced doctors in our state and in the country, of doing it this way. Totally amazing. I appreciated Dr. Davidson's easy going style and the depth of knowledge he has.

I met with Dr. Davidson to discuss cataract surgery and lens options. I was very myopic at the…read moretime. He showed me a binder with the different lenses and I decided on the mid-range lenses that would give good distance, mid-range and close up vision. I scheduled the surgery for my first eye. Two days before the surgery, I received a call saying that those lenses were not available in my power (they didn't go high enough) but he could still insert them and do a "touch up" Lasik surgery. He didn't know that at the time of my appointment? (I was never even a candidate for Lasik surgery due to other eye conditions.) I cancelled my surgery because he clearly wasn't paying attention to my eyes and my vision needs and he didn't know the products he was pushing. I then consulted with another ophthalmologist and told him which lenses I had originally selected. Without skipping a beat, he immediately said those lenses didn't come in my power. Thank you! I had my surgeries with this other doctor and couldn't be happier. Steer clear of Dr. Davidson as he doesn't listen to his patients and/or is incompetent when it comes to actual cataract surgery and the specific needs of patients as individuals.

Dr Nguyen was a delight to work with, always cheerful, knowledgeable, and on time. If she was busy or stressed I never got a sense of it as she was patient (even though I was the patient, LOL!) and took the time to discuss any and all issues related to my surgery and follow up progress exams. Oh yes, the surgery was a complete success! While not inexpensive (Medicare and even my PPO insurance doesn't cover most of the cost) the end result after 6 months is virtually perfect distance, mid-range, and reading vision. I do use OTC low power readers when doing extended close work or reading, but for day to day needs like reading labels, recipes, etc. no glasses are needed. I highly recommend the entire Miramar team; Drs Davidson, Nguyen, and Roy Butera, my primary care vision doctor.
