He has renewed my faith in dentistry. Dr. Anstey is an amazing dentist and almost immediately made me feel comfortable and eased my fears from past experiences. read more

Highly recommend! Professional, fast, and curteous. I was very nervous to get a root canal due to my previous experience with a rough dentist. Dr Anstey is obviously a seasoned professional of his craft. He eased my worries and had me in and out with zero pain. read more

Paul recently completed my first root canal. Going into the appointment I was extremely nervous and had pretty bad anxiety. First I want to start off by saying the assistant Adrien - unsure of spelling - was also a superstar. The assistant spoke extremely calm and professional, reassuring me during the procedure that if I felt uncomfortable to let him know, but during the procedure was routinely checking in and my anxiety left pretty early in the work that was being done. Paul was also a superstar. I had a pretty bad abscess and a tricky root canal that had split into multiple areas. Paul tackled the issue and gave me some great advice after the procedure. I don't wish or plan to have any more root canals - fingers cross - but if I have future issues, Paul is the only person I want to work on me for this line of work. Following up the female assistant who put on my temp crown was also extremely nice and professional. I went into the procedure ready for some discomfort and for some pain afterword, I knew what I was in for, but my primary concern was to be treated in a fair and helpful way and this group went above and beyond. Overall the tag team that worked on my tooth was fantastic. read more

I came into this office already carrying deep trauma from childhood dental experiences. Before the root canal, I clearly told the assistant that I needed the procedure to go slowly, and that it was crucial for them to listen to me if I became overwhelmed. They didn't listen. When I cried out in pain, kicking and hysterical, they didn't stop. They held me down and kept going. I was terrified, powerless, and retraumatized. The dentist didn't take a moment to help me calm down or acknowledge my distress. Instead, he tried to justify everything by saying, "I'm not God." I wasn't asking for a god. I was asking for compassion, for someone to see me as a human being in pain. It felt like he was more interested in covering his tracks than taking responsibility for how things were handled. To make things worse, a staff member later confided that the dentist has a reputation for being cocky and not listening to patients--and that there had been previous complaints. This kind of treatment is exactly why so many people, especially in minority communities, avoid dentists until it's too late. We aren't treated with care, and we're expected to stay silent when we're hurt. I wasn't asking for perfection. I was asking to be heard. To be treated like I mattered. I walked away with emotional wounds deeper than I came in with. BEWARE OF DR. PAUL ANSTEY read more

DO NOT VISIT!!! my 66 y/o mom went for a routine root canal. he was so RUDE to her she left crying! he grabbed her face, also opened her jaw forcefully with his hands, she was in pain and he kept working instead of offering her more numbing med. she had to pull her head away from the pain and he said your difficult and WALKED out. I wonder if he would have treated his mom this way. RUDEST DR!!!! read more

Dr. Anstey did my root canal at an office in Visalia and it was the best experience I've ever had at the dentist. You can tell that he truly enjoys his work and is an excellent endodontist. Good taste in music too! read more

Dr Anstey and his team were fantastic! Im not a fan of going to the dentist, but he and his team made me feel so comfortable...it was the best dental appointment ever! read more

Dr Paul and his team were so accommodating and skilled that I insisted on writing the great review I feel they deserve. They may be a bit costlier than other but you get what you pay for. The work is outstanding and you just gotta love the performance of the work they do. If dentistry were baseball they would be major leaguers! Kudos for all you guys do. read more

Paul did such an amazing job. I didn't know how series root canals are and how badly some doctors can mess things up until I did my research and found that many people have to redo root canals due to poorly done jobs. I am certain that I will never have to fix Paul's job and also he was so caring during the procedure and him and his assistant Adrian both made sure that I was very comfortable. I had absolutely no pain during the procedure or after, I was just a bit tired because of the infection that I had. All in all so worth the money and I recommend him to anyone. read more

'The Smashdown of 2011". I fainted and fell on my face. I was taken to the hospital where they gave me stitches in my chin and ran a number of tests on me but they didn't do anything about my teeth, which were completely smashed and moved around, creating a lot of trauma to my gums. A friend recommended Dr. Anstey and I consider that to be one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Dr. Anstey worked on me from 6:30 until 11:30 on a Friday night! He sent me home with rebuilt teeth and the peace of mind that comes with knowing that someone is in your corner. Over the next few visits, he continued to give me impeccable care. I believe that I healed quickly and easily due to Dr. Anstey's expansive knowledge, his commitment to perfection, his calm manner and his great sense of humor! I almost want to have another accident just to go back...almost!!!! read more

Dr. Anstey is an amazing diagnostician. His bedside ... or chairside, as the case may be ... manner is lovely. He was kind enough to come in the day after Christmas to help me with a problem tooth and has taken care of me himself on other occasions when he could have very easily passed me off to another periodontist or oral specialist. He is an amazing man and a talented doctor. His office is in the heart of Bev Hills, so as you might expect ... his services are not inexpensive, but they are worth it. He knows what he is doing, uses the best equipment, and takes as much time with you as is needed. I wouldn't let any one else touch my canals! Parking is about $15 in the two lots close by ... or you can chance it and park in the metered lot at the corner of Little Santa Monica. read more

I haven't been to many endodontists, but I have been to a handful of dentists and other medical professionals. I can say that Dr. Anstey has some of the best client/patient relationship skills that I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. His use of cutting-edge technology in the field I found encouraging and relieving. His patience, let alone willingness, to explain my situation to me, and walk me through his treatment plan was excellent. His office is very relaxing, and his staff is a pleasure to interact with. Overall, I would strongly recommend him to everyone whenever you need a root canal. However the first reviewer is spot on when she said that you do "pay for what you get" - and space in the triangle of Beverly Hills doesn't come cheap. I'm certain he is not the most expensive endodontist in the city, but his fee structure is higher than median that's for sure. I have no problem paying for excellent health care or a fabulous meal - as long as they live up to the expectations. Dr. Anstey most certainly did. And unless you are excessively cheap (like I am), there is no reason to ever see another endodontist once you see Dr. Anstey. And he's a hockey fanatic - what more could you ask for! Woot! :-p read more

I have had a lot of work done here, and so far it has all worked out perfectly. I am having the work done in tandem with Dr Baxley (who is just a few blocks away). While the fees my be high, I prefer to err on the side of caution as this is my health (and my good looks) we are talking about (not chopped liver). I need to get my entire mouth redone. All 28 teeth crowned (or re-crowned) and many root canals and some crown lengthening. Only one implant required. This is six figure dentistry. Not for the faint of heart or wallet. So far I have completed half of the teeth. Did the worst ones first. The final 14 should all be crowns only (I pray). I will then have the hollywood smile I have always dreamed of. Having been a beverly hills jeweler to the discerning for many years I can fully appreciate the time, skill and experience required to guarantee the perfection I am looking for. And while there are no absolute guarantees in life, I feel I am in the right place, at the right time, to get as close to my goal as is humanly possible. So go visit Dr Anstey... and put your money where your mouth is. read more

Dr. Anstey did a root canal for me several years ago and although his price was very high, I went back recently for another root canal consult because he did do a fine job the first time. He and his front desk person were seriously playing me financially. What he wanted to charge me was 3X what I had been charged before (and he was EXPENSIVE THE FIRST TIME!) She told me the would give me 5% off if I paid cash! Okay...that wasn't the worst of my problems here.... POLITICS! Who talks about politics when they are in your mouth??!!!! AND his politics are totally opposite of mine, so I was offended when he made racist and hateful comments! I think if you are a Trump supporter who loves to throw good money away, this is your guy. If you are not those two things....find a different dentist! read more

Seriously one of the best endodontists in town!!! Not only do you feel very relaxed upon entering his zen like office space, but I am always welcomed with a smile and a feeling of ease unlike most teeth related visits. Did I also mention that Dr. Anstey is not only an incredible dr but just a good human being. I always feel like he sincerely cares about my health and always providing me the best work possible. I have had 3 root canals performed by him now- all which were daunting surgeries to me, but once I was in the chair ( cozy with my legs under a pillow and warm blanket) everything didn't seem so scary. He's super patient and also informative as to what he is doing and why. He even showed me the pic through the telescope of his process which was really interesting since most doctors don't even take the time to explain the whole process. I always left a little groggy - but I was supplied with plenty of pain killers and a little after-care package that brought me right back to life. Out of the 3 root canals I had- I think only one had a littler lingering pain (which is normal) and the rest it was as if nothing had happened the prior day- so needless to say his works speaks for itself. I highly recommend this guy for anyone looking to get the best treatment for your teeth LA has to offer. Plus- the Dr. is just cool- always a nice attitude with great S. Afrikan art everywhere and good music. Thanks Anstey for making the seemingly dreaded root canal experience not so bad! Alexa read more

I was referred to Dr. Anstey; I had a tooth that was on the verge of being given its last rights. My dentist said that if anybody could save its life, it would be Dr. Anstey. It was necessary to have extensive root canal work, but I'm happy to report it was virtually painless. And to make a long story short, Mr. Tooth is alive and well and happily still residing inside my mouth where he belongs. In addition to being great at what he does and almost equally important, he's a great guy. It was almost worth my not practicing good dental hygiene in order to meet him. Almost. read more

Dr. Anstey is an incredibly gifted medical professional. His expertise as well as his suburb chair side manner is both refreshing and reassuring. He is a true teacher at heart and explains diagnosis and prognosis in a way that exudes his passion for his life work. His office staff reflects his kindness and humanness as well. You are always greeted with a smile and his office and staff radiate positive energy. He is proficient, meticulous and a perfectionist when it comes to his work and he treats you just as he would a family member sitting in the chair. I highly recommend if you ever need a root canal that he is your first and last call. He is genius and cool. JGS read more

Excellent experience. Dr. Anstey is expensive, but worth every single penny. I had severe tooth pain. I had been to another endodontist, who said I did not need a root canal, but that oral surgery was required. I went to Dr. Anstey for a second opinion. Dr. Anstey quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I have been pain free for the first time in a year. read more

Dr. Anstey is a total pro. He's an excellent diagnostician who takes great pride in his work and techniques, and the proof is in the recovery. After having root canal work, I had no residual pain from where he had administered the anesthesia injections. He's a lovely person with a great bedside manner and was worth the cost. read more

Dr. Anstey and his team offer an inviting and caring environment. Getting oral surgery is no one's favorite day, but Dr. Anstey goes above and beyond to make his clients feel informed and comfortable. My general dentist started a root canal on a tooth and found a calcified canal. He was going to fill it short but I asked to see an endodontist. The endodontist I was sent to did not seem interested in preserving the tooth and was very condescending when I started asking questions so I decided to get a second opinion. After researching and calling around, I found Dr Anstey. Dr Anstey was willing to take on a patient without a direct referral (some endodontists would only take patients with a referral) and without a clear plan for the restoration process as I had decided to leave my general dentist. Despite all the uncertainty, Dr Anstey not only answered all my questions, he likes it when a patient is informed and interested in their treatment plan. He takes disinfection seriously and tries to conserve tooth structure whenever possible. Like others have mentioned, the way he partners with his patients and the concern he has for them is rarely found in dentistry. He easily could have passed me back to my previous dentist or left me on my own to find a new one without a second thought. Instead he provided guidance on the restoration process and some things to look for in a new dentist. Dr Anstey's interest in the long-term outcome of both the endodontics and the final restoration is unheard of in the dental field. He is always interested in doing what is best for the long-term health of his patients. Regarding fees, he is certainly not inexpensive. And I wouldn't mind finding an endodontist closer to home. However I was tired of having dentists execute root canal treatments poorly and it was surprisingly hard to find a competent endodontist that did RCTs over multiple appts. The extra expense was worth it to me due to his expertise, thought process, and our discussions about dentistry. The staff at the office were all kind and pleasant to interact with, too. Overall, I would definitely recommend Dr Anstey to anyone looking for an endodontist. His attention to detail and willingness to educate his patients in dentistry is truly unique. read more

I have been going to lots of different kinds of dentists since I was in a really bad car accident 30 years ago. I needed to have a bad root canal bored out and redone. Dr. Enstey spent the first 1/2 hour lecturing on various topics....politcs, world hunger,,,, and then looked at my tooth. He did tell me how much it was going to cost at this point and I should have run out of the office immediately but the tooth hurt. So I paid $2450. At my checkup, I asked him for some of my money back. He almost fell down. I don't think anyone had ever asked before. But it has been two weeks, and I haven't seen any money. He's good but he overcharged at by 2/3s.I I now go to the UCLA Dental Practice. read more

I found Anstey to be 3 X the cost of other just as qualified Endodontists whom use the same high tech equipment. So do your research. I went to Anstey for four teeth and he did a decent job on two of them. (VERY over priced though as thats is how he gouges his patients wallet). The other two were root canal retreats. He outright tried to hustled me on those. He said he could 99% retreat them both which is impossible odds and he should of said its 50/50. He is, in my opinion, very egotistical and exaggerates his ability to get your money whether he can help you or not. He is reasonable enough in his demeanor but as we began to move forward to work on additional teeth I found his demeanor short and unwilling to answer my questions. I personally don't recommend him as I feel the service he is giving is a rip off. Try Richard J Rauth in Santa Monica. He is kind and very skilled with top notch equipments and charges 3x less then Anstey. I could sense that Anstey was mostly concerned about making $ verses giving me fair and honest treatment thus I ended up going to another Endodonists for the other two teeth - which were root canals retreats. Richard Rauth did an amazing job for me - with better prices, honestly and integrity. (No ego). He along with a few others I got consultations from told me that for ANY Endodonists to say they can 99% REtreat a root canal are just impossible odds and not truthful. They all said its basically 50/50 because you never know what is inside the tooth until they go in and find out. Had I let Anstey attempt to retreat the root canals I would of been blindly robbed because it turned out one of the teeth was cracked inside and untreatable anyway. I followed my intuition and got a second and third opinion and avoided getting ripped off by Anstey. Get other opinions and get price quotes from others if price matters. read more

Many thanks to Paul and his team for the great job they did! Most people would think having a root canal is a horrible experience. I had just the opposite - it was like being with friends and family. Dr. Paul Anstey and his entire team made it an amazingly interesting and engaging experience! Many years ago, I went to an incompetent dentist who should never have done a root canal. Years later, Dr. Paul had to fix the mess that was created. I'm so grateful for years of experience that he brings and the detailed work that he performs. I was told I needed three teeth pulled and maybe more. I went for a second opinion. The second opinion thought we could save some of them but maybe not all and felt the best man for the job would be Dr. Anstey. I went to see him and he managed to rebuild two root canals and save those teeth. But one had to come out. It went from bad to worse. Not only did it have to come out but I didn't have enough bone to hold the implant in place properly. Dr. Anstey was able to graft bone from the other side and make it all work. Needless to say, all this work took many long visits during the better part of a year. We travel extensively and we have two children but he was willing to work within my schedule to make it all happen. His services are not inexpensive but absolutely, 100% worth the stretch. You may be able to find someone else to do the work for less money but you will not get the quality or care that comes with Dr. Anstey and his staff. They are warm, caring and friendly as well as incredibly knowledgeable. His staff are quick and on top of it. I felt very well informed about what was going to happen at every visit. I actually felt sad to leave after my last appointment with them. They are amazing. If you have a dental issue, this is the place to go. read more
