It's not as obvious, large, or advertised as other jewelers in the area, but well worth taking the effort to seek out. My new fiance and I came with some very specific ideas for a non-traditional engagement ring, and even brought our own stones, and Mary Beth didn't mind at all. She was genuinely excited about the creative process, and now that the ring is on my finger, I couldn't be happier. The work was exquisite and very personal, and we were brought into every step of the process. They are also the only jeweler I discovered who did not take advantage of the "engagement" label price inflation that seems to be the norm at major jewelers.

Because of that, I made it a point to find something I wanted and make a purchase. You don't get that kind of hospitality everywhere you go, really great prices too. We chatted for a bit while I browsed, and I told him about some of the record stores in my hometown, and musical tastes. Great selection of punk rock and metal for a small shop, really surprised me with what they had available. Unfortunately, no Jazz that I was looking for, but it's everywhere by me, so no biggie when I get to shop a great selection of metal. I'll be back for sure when I next come into the area for work!

The real gem of this place is the basement which is home to vintage books at killer prices. There are books wall to wall on everything you can imagine- art & culture and history and ancient medicine. I purchased a book about interpreting dreams for $1.99, a book about giving a toast for $4.99 and a book of dog stickers for 60 cents! The staff was friendly and let us browse the aisles to our hearts content. There is a bathroom inside but you need to ask for a key to use it. A "bonus" of this place is it is located to a handy map of the downtown area and neat photo ops like the red London Telephone booth at the end of the block. Masks are required inside the store and staff wore masks as well.

You can even see the old safe, a potbellied stove and a jail cell in the back. We learned all of this from the delightful staffer, who also had homemade cookies set out! So that was pretty awesome. The shop itself is about 50% "antiques" (mostly Victorian era glassware), with the rest split between gifty stuff and alpaca merchandise. Now, you might think that's odd but Nueske's owns a herd of alpaca (why not?) and this the store sells alpaca socks, slippers and wonderfully soft woven blankets.
