It's chocolately but not in an overwhelming way, fudgey but also slightly cakey, making it an irresistible texture. The frosting is light, airy and minty but not to the point of tasting like an overpowering breath mint. Bonus point is this place is located on Lake Mohawk, which is stunning and transports you to what feels like a little Swiss town. The interior of the bakery is cozy and has an almost Hallmark movie ambience. The staff is friendly. They have 1-2 outdoor tables and I think serve coffees too. read more

I happened to be walking around Sparta and noticed the adorable Pattycakes Bake Shop. I walked in and was in awe of the tantalizing desserts that all looked completely adorable. There were small cakes topped with cannolis, cupcakes topped with whoppie pies, and more. I had never seen anything so playful! Despite the allure of the creative treats, I opted for a basic Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was still quite large and tantalizing. When I got home, I could not wait to try a piece of the treat, but, sadly, I found it just mediocre. The soft and chewy cookie lacked flavor. Yes, it was packed with chocolate chips, but they seemed to be made of milk or semi-sweet chocolate, as they provided little impact. In addition, the cookie could have used some salt. It essentially resembled a larger Chewy Chips-Ahoy and was not super exciting. Though my cookie was a bit of a letdown, I would give Pattycakes another shot, in order to try some of the other, more adventurous pastries. read more

I ordered the cake for my sister's bridal shower from Patty Cakes. Throughout the whole process, the staff was communicative and responsive. They listened to my ideas and made sure the final product matched what I'd requested to a T. The cake was simply gorgeous and, just as important for any cake or pastry, delicious. Went on Saturday to pick up two of the small grab n go cakes available. They had a wide variety of flavors and the employees working were super sweet and took the time to explain each flavor. The little cakes are so cute and comfortably yielded 6 slices. I thought the cakes were a little pricey at $42 but that's essentially $7/slice for the best cake I've ever bought, which is a spectacular deal. One word to describe this lovely bakery: Amazing. I was recommended to try them out, and let me just say it was worth the visit. Not only is the location in a wonderful area but the scenery around it is beautiful, it gave me Hallmark movie vibes. They have Outdoor seating for those lovely warm weathered days, the moment you walk in you are warmly greeted and let's talk about how aesthetically pleasing it is. Lovely displays of all the sweets. It was bright and welcoming. I bought an assortment of desserts ranging from their yummy cannoli cake, a few of their themed cupcakes (cinco de Mayo with the a mini taco on top), lava cakes and of course those lovely cookies that are displayed once you enter. We ordered a birthday cake for our daughters 14th last month. We ordered on the Tuesday prior to Saturday pick up. I knew it could be last minute, but was assured that it would be fine as long as items were available. We ordered a chocolate layer cake with fruit filling. And a design that was recommended by Patty. It was a beautiful cake. But the actual cake was brick like, had no flavor and the fruit filling was a thin layer of jam. It was so dry and inedible that we kept the half of the cake we hadn't cut to give to the bakery to show them. We called the Sunday morning after and expressed our total dissatisfaction and we're assured we would get a call within the week. Well it's now a week and no call or follow up. Completely dissatisfied. I cannot recommend at all. read more

From the moment we met, we knew we would get our cakes with Pattycakes. We planned from San Diego, so it was difficult to plan a wedding, but this was so easy and delicious! Our cake was beautiful and we can't wait to share photos. The Suisse buttercream was clean and tasty. We're not big fondant fans, but we love the smooth look. Our cake was beyond smooth, and tall at 5 tiers! She coordinated with our florist to decorate the cake and the placement was to perfection. Now I love cake, and always make it a point to eat cake at a wedding, but I know many people who don't. Those people came up to me and raved about it!
