Their drinks were delicious and used mostly local Minnesota ingredients As an Arizona native, I can say their nachos stacked up with some of the best. The burgers were great size with super fresh toppings. The fries were some of the best I ever had- perfectly crisp exterior with delightfully fluffy interior and were seasoned to the max without being over-salted. The homemade pickles were mild and still crisp, and even my pickle hater friends enjoyed theirs. To end everything off, we ordered a whole huckleberry-peach pie. They don't sell whole pies typically so they offered us one of their pie baking tins if we were to bring it back. Sadly, we won't be in town past the morning, so we had to decline, but they boxed up our pie in pieces and we left on our merry way. We definitely could have taken them up on their offer for the tin though as we have already eaten the whole pie and would gladly drive back to drop it off and get some more!

There is a wonderful clothing and footwear department that sells many name brands that really appeal to the masses. Hunting apparel, jeans, coats, shirts and accessories. There is usually a really good selection on their clearance rack that I've found amazing deals for bothering me and my husband. But our favorite department is the gun department. They are helpful, knowledgeable and eager to show you anything that you might want to touch. We've been known to go in for chicken food and leave with a gun or two!! Ammo is always stocked and they carry many accessories too. Along with a huge selection of safes. Watch for their sales because they have some pretty awesome deals. But most of all after a big shopping haul right at the check out is a vast array of candy and snacks!! Also hard to resist!! One thing about Murdoch's is their customer service is awesome, always someone takes out our coop shavings and food and insists on loading it all up for us. Regardless of heat, rain or snow.

This hotel has hot food the entire time and never ran out. This place had families that had been stranded there due to Southwest Airlines cancelling all of the flights this week. The hotel gave them breakfast to go because of the situation. They were leaving before breakfast started. The pool has a water slide and the hot tub was actually hot! It was so wonderful! We were texted prior to arriving and after we left thanking us for our business. I felt that all hotels should be this amazing.

We started with sourdough and an order of calamari (yes, I know there isn't fresh squid within a hundred miles, it's one of our "always order to see what's up" dishes). Bread came out quickly with olive oil, balsamic, and some minced garlic - quite nice. A few minutes later, calamari - lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and a bit bland. It felt like they'd perfectly executed their vision, but it could've used a bit more seasoning to my taste. No tarter or other sauce, but a half lemon and some pickled sweet peppers. I ordered the bison burger and my wife went with the walleye. My burger was medium rare, as ordered, but the bottom bun was soggy and everything was buried in the thinly sliced red onion. It was fine but sadly forgettable other than having to slurp slices of onion after each bite. My wife raved about her walleye though, basically describing it as elevated nostalgia. It took her back to days of fishing on the lake with her family as a girl, but perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We finished with an espresso crème brûlée, which took about 20 minute after our meal to arrive. Apparently the chef was newer and accidentally put pistachios on the brûlée, as we got the last espresso and the next batch was pistachio flavored. We didn't mind, but it had the thickest crust I've ever seen on a brûlée - probably an eighth inch thick. It took two solid whacks to break through and was so thick it felt more like a burnt caramel. The crème itself was lovely but, as someone who prepared hundreds of brûlées in an earlier job and has eaten many since, it was sadly overshadowed by far too much sugar on top. It was an overall pleasant experience but honestly I owe much of that to the company of my wife. If we go back, the only thing we'd reorder is the sourdough to start. My wife loved her fish but still said she'd try something else next time.
