Richard's Laundromat - Sitting in the car waiting for laundry. Pretty cool !!!

    Richard's Laundromat

For example, when I first went there, I'd never been to a laundromat before and was quite nervous so I had some rather obvious and silly-sounding questions, like how to exchange bills for quarters, but the gentle woman behind the counter patiently answered my questions and made me feel welcome. As well, I've only ever seen her and other people who work there treat their customers fairly and courteously. I'm grateful for the people at Richard's Laundromat.

My hotel in Mt Laurel New Jersey had one washer and one dryer. Not only that the price to wash was…read more$4.00 and so was the price to dry. I did one load there where I even mixed darks and lights because one I was pressed for time (couldn't wait for another load) and two I was pressed with the price. So the following weekend I went online and found a few options. Some with lots of machines, a little further, some with a coffee shop inside, but this one caught my attention so I decided to give it a try. The place was very clean and well kept. Smelled very good. There was a very nice lady there working that seemed to know everyone that came in. You can tell there is definitely a local vibe in this place. The clientele was very friendly. The machines start at $2.50 to wash and $0.25 to dry for every 7 minutes. Can't beat that ! So I was able to separate my cloths this time, do 2 loads and be in and out in less then 1h30m. There is parking in the front. People can double park behind you if they need to quickly run inside. And there is additional parking in the back. The only thing I would add as a service to the customers is Wi-fi. Not a deal breaker but it would be nice to be able to sit in the car and wait while watching some movies on Netflix thru your laptop.

Why the EFF is this place rated so high?! Not just on Yelp, where their only review is a 5-star,…read morebut every where else, where this dump got glowing reviews?! Apparently, the Maple Shade/Mt. Laurel/Moorestown area is a complete dead zone for "quality" laundromats. There are only a smattering of beat to shit, run down, mom and pop joints. Having gone to TWO others, that were somehow worse than this one, I decided to trust the reviews and head here. *Whomp whomp* Walking in, I notice all the usual malcontents that typically frequent a laundromat. There is a woman immediately complaining about the soda machine, and very aggressively telling another patron that dryer 9 is open. There is a guy with a Vietnam vet hat and BDU jacket quietly sitting off to the side; his coffee on the counter where the cash register is. The counter is empty. I notice that everything is coin operated, but there are no change machines. A man notices me confusingly looking around and asks if I need change. He takes me to the counter, and I hand him a $20, and he hands me back a pre sorted laundry detergent cap filled with quarters. Not trusting THAT shit, I go to the sorting table to verify that there was indeed $20 in quarters. (There were...the pre sorting system must be good. ‍) So, I go to wash and notice that washing machines are almost SIX. DOLLARS. to wash. Now, granted, it's been a LONG time since I was in a laundromat, but SIX DOLLARS FOR A MID SIZED MACHINE?! That seems super excessive. The small machines are Maytag commercial units, straight from the early 80s, and although they SAY $2.25 ON THEM, they are most certainly $2.75 to use. The dryers are .25 for 5 minutes, which, since washing is $5.75, they SHOULD be free. I got my clothes washed, (over $17 for 3 loads), but I will absolutely not be back here.
