We love it here. Our 51 check-ins don't even begin to touch the amount times we've been here given that I walk with my dog every day. The park is always beautiful and the staff and volunteers do an excellent job caring for the trees and lawns. I am happy when I see the the police enforcing the leash law because we had a really bad run-in with a nasty dog that had a muzzle order the owner decided to ignore - certainly not the fault of the park and definitely not the norm. By in large everyone cleans up after their dog and keeps them on a leash. You can rent a pavilion, go to one of the two kids playgrounds, skate in the rink, swim in the huge pools, play tennis, play basketball or take your dog to the off-leash fenced in yards. I've seen organized softball games, adult flag football, pick-up bocce ball, frisbee golf and slack lining and plenty more. In the summer you can expect some awesome concerts in the evenings on the hill behind the pagoda. Pack a picnic, wine, your kids and dogs and put every calendar on your calendar because it's a great way to celebrate summer. In the winter the roads are clear of snow and ice making it easy to continue your walk and making your puppy happy. My personal favorite part is the three purple trees that bloom up by the house & pagoda for only about two weeks in the spring. They are amazing! read more

Pretty perfect park for me and my family, which includes two large dogs. We frequent the gated dog park but also run around the south area. It's not quite walking distance to home but parking hasn't been an issue. The dog park area is divided for large and small/older dogs. It's been clean and the other dog owners, with rare exception, have been considerate. Sometimes there are tennis balls for the dogs to fetch - I see the sign says no toys - but my dogs LOVE the tennis balls. The small "hills" and the concrete creek and bridge are great. read more

I LOVE this park... Best park in all of Baltimore City. It is almost exactly 2 miles if you run (or walk) the entire perimeter of the park, perfect for keeping track of mileage. There are tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, a pool, a hockey rink, pagoda, fountains, playgrounds, benches, picnic tables and gazeboes, a pond, a "casino" (which is used for neighborhood meetings I believe)... and your occasional cannon replica to show the historic significance of the park from the Civil War. There is something for everyone and there are always events in this park. Concerts in the park up by pagoda hill, flea markets, latino fest, and so much more! Definitely worth a visit for a picnic or a stroll. read more

I've lived in thee good 'ol Bmore for some years now, and I had no idea that there was a park of this size and that had these vistas. I don't generally have a reason to park it up; well, yesterday I did....for pictures!! Yes, it's Christmastime and the sibs and I got together to take pictures for the parentals. What we found were some really beautiful spots, and that nifty pagonda to take some beautiful shots. I can't say that I'll ever have a reason to venture on out there again, but I know that it is there in the event that I need it. read more

I love Patterson Park. It has a very bad and as far as I'm concerned undeserved rap as a dangerous place. I wouldn't recommend hanging out in the middle all alone in the middle of the night but this is a city. Be smart. Patterson is a huge beautiful vibrant park that totally rounds out the surrounding neighborhoods. The Pagoda is beautiful and adds such charm. The tiny lake is cute and filled with ducks and usually surrounded by parents restraining their young children from diving in after them. There are pavilions with grills dotting the west side of the park and fields for all kinds of rec leagues all over the east side along with tennis courts and a great dog park. The park is surrounded by great food like Matthews Pizza, Sharky's (wings!), and my favorite liquor store House of Spirits! The park is a great vibrant place to run or just walk through or hang out. Don't let the old reputation keep you away. Check out Patterson Park some time. You won't be disappointed. read more

Patterson is a great park with lots of space, lots of room for multiple activities, and lots of fun. The hallmark of the park is the enormous, spectacular quad-level pagoda, which visitors can climb to get great 360 degree views of city, the inner harbor, and the rest of the park. The outdoor walkways go around the length of the pagoda on each level. Really cool. The park also features a public pool, several cannons to commemorate the park's involvement in 19th century wars, a large memorial to Pulaski, many large open greens for your picnic/chilling needs, and many windy biking/hiking trails. On our recent visit, we had the fortuitous pleasure of witnessing the kinetic sculpture race, where dozens of quirky members of the community come together in funky outfits and even funkier karts and bike around the park. We saw a giant poodle (comes from the visionary museum I believe), a giant croc, a kart modeled after a sub sandwich, etc etc. Great stuff. read more

Patterson park is really nice; laid back place to come spend an afternoon. Bring a friend, your significant other or family and pack a picnic and comfy blanket! Off-street parking (free). The park if pretty large and there are some paths to walk as well. They also have a small separate section for dogs (secure). Pretty cool! read more

As a non city person living in Baltimore for graduate school, Patterson Park has become my refuge. This is a large, well-maintained park. Lots of trees, greenery, flat parts, hilly parts, fat paths, skinny paths. Joggers, walkers, families, dogs (so many dogs). Great place to watch the changing of the seasons (I'm from California). I've seen hawks here and a fox run through once. It's also pretty well-lit, and feels pretty safe before 8pm. There are usually still a few dog walkers out at this time. read more

Beautiful green space minutes away from the iconic Fell's Point neighborhood. This is where you can find "nature" in central Baltimore. The pagoda is gorgeous (especially when lit at night), the body of water relaxing and the flowers impressive (when blooming in the spring). I have only strolled it, but I understand that concerts and other events are staged here quite often. read more

Made the trek up to the Pagoda, literally and figuratively; drove there, biked up the path and then walked up to the Pagoda. The gentleman was kind enough to offer to watch my bike while I walked up the Pagoda. Each level has tidbits of information about the surrounding area such as the War of 1812 and how volunteers keep Patterson Park thriving. Great 360 degree views of Baltimore - can see the waterfront, the B-more Harbor. Great for a pano shot. The volunteers at the park are super friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed a quick chat with them where they offered me great biking tips of where to go. Thanks guys! Tip: The Pagoda is open 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. read more

Big fan of Patterson Park. Always a good place to walk the dog, with all of the paths and just the sheer space of everything. There's also a couple of dog parks where you can let your dog roam wild and free. There are an ample amount of trash cans to dispose of waste, and the general feel of the place is very clean. Have never had a problem with safety, although probably not a place I would try to visit too late at night. I'm always surprised at how well the place is maintained, even the basketball courts. They're not the fanciest courts and there are some cracks here and there, but the hoops always have a well-maintained net, which is really all you can hope for these days. You can always hang by the lake as well, which is always rife with ducks and other fowl, but don't get too close, because some of them are truly aggressive. I thankfully speak not out of experience, but out of observation. Yikes. The park truly has just about everything you could want in a neighborhood park. Always a good time hanging here, whether it be picnicking with friends, trudging along with the dog, or playing ball. read more

I've been going to Patterson Park for over 50 yrs. I've seen many changes and updates. I love Patterson Park. They've really did a great job updating the pool. Paying and having sessions gives everyone a chance to enjoy the pool. I also used to go Iceskating every weekend, that's when the top was off. It was very popular back then. There was always a long line to get in. The dog park is awesome I used to go every morning about 7 yrs. ago. Then I switched to walking the whole park with my dog , now he is 12 yrs. old and we stick to our neighborhood . The Pagoda is beautiful . Slay riding on the hills in the winter what fun we had. Playing tennis in the spring , summer and fall.All the festivals the fun and memories are endless even the simple things like having a picnic on a sunny day. read more

In general I love parks and going outdoor. And this is one I am planning to return to. It is a beautiful park, you can find many activities to do and enjoy for all the family. It is big, organized and well maintained. I think that if you are considering a park, you should seriously consider Patterson Park. Lovely little dog park here! Though Id have to say that 90% of the dogs were too large for my little doxie But its a great mix of astroturf, concrete, and rocks/pools for the dogs to play on. The park is super clean and well maintained. Trees for shade and benches to sit on. I wish they had one of these parks in NYC. After going to the dog park I took a good walk along the rest of the park. Lots of soccer games going on and a cute little pool but no one was in it on a sunday... maybe it was closed today for some reason. Take a trip here with your dog! read more

Ok, I have admittedly never been to Central Park in NYC, but I have to imagine this is Baltimore's version of it. It's huge (they often hold 5k runs in the park without covering it all), and has lots of different things in it. To include the Pagoda and the Russian Orthodox Church. There is a kids area, a pool, multiple tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields, soccer fields, and just do whatever you want fields. Lots of people out there running with their dogs, and just enjoying the park too. In the summer their are lots of festivals and free concerts held here too. Baltimore has a bad reputation for being dangerous...ok, certain parts of Baltimore are...but, not Patterson Park. Next warm day, drive over, and bask in the glory of the park. Huge park to check out if you have some extra time while in Baltimore. There is a pagoda there, which is interesting, but it is only open on Sundays (from 12-6pm or something like that). There is also your typical fountain, but for viewing only. I would choose Federal Hill over here for the view though. Parking was easy since there are ample spots on the street. read more

One of the best things about living in Baltimore! The park has something for everyone who enjoys outdoor activities. There are plenty of paved pathways for walking, running, or cycling. Be warned however that some if the pathways are in less than ideal condition. The basketball courts are in pretty good shape with good rims and nets. There are usually enough people at the court to play pick-up games. There are also lots of things for kids to do: two playgrounds, ice skating rink, dog park, and a pond with lots of birds and fish! read more

This is a great park, the only issue is the city's maintenance and the police monitoring of it. The park is huge and has many events and sports for all ages. However, the paths are in various stages of disrepair, some sections of the park seem to be completely abandoned/neglected (basketball court area), due to the run down areas it seems that criminal activity is attracted to the park. More lighting is definitely needed within the park. That said, the issues are small in nature when compared to the full scope of the park. The pagoda is a great attraction, check the hours and climb to the top for some great views of Baltimore. There are many sports leagues Baltimore City, BSSC, BS, KLoB, etc with dozens of sports options to choose from. There is also a park pool, ice rink, rec center, small pond, and playground. read more

Patterson Park was my playground in the 50s. I lived a only a few houses from the corner of Patterson Park and Baltimore Streets. Had many wonderful experiences at the "Boat Lake", the "Casino" and the "Pavillion". The Pagoda was in disrepair in those days. So happy it has since been restored. All of the other reviewers are absolutely right: this is the best park in Baltimore. I'd even say it's one of the best parks I've ever been to. It has all of the facilities you could possibly want or expect from a park: tennis courts, pool, playground, plenty of great trails, wonderfully kept grass and plantlife, great picnic spots and tables and benches, etc. In addition to all of these wonderful facilities, you get beautiful vantage points of the city and a little Baltimore history in the Patterson Pagoda! Plus, it is a HUGE park. Obviously be smart about it: no large, empty park is a great place to be a night in any city like Baltimore, but don't get yourself so caught up in worrying about that sort of thing that you miss the gem that Patterson is during the daytime! read more

Beautiful park with lots of pathways and trees and parking on a Sunday afternoon. Families with small children and dogs wind their way around leisurely. It's a big park. There are lots of points of information on placards scattered about telling you of local history and trees and flowers. The lighthouse is an odd feature in this la d locked park although one is perched high up on the hill from Vantage point and you get a good view of the inner harbor down below. It's pretty amazing. Patterson Park is a great park to visit if you want to get outside and enjoy some nature while still staying within the city. The park has soo much to offer which if I list everything it's going to be a long list. The Pagoda is closed most of the year, but it opens up on weekends in the spring or summer, there's a pool which is very cheap if you want to take a quick dip on a hot day, there is a Ice Rick which turns into a floor hockey rink in the spring/summer, there is a pavilion with tables and benches, there is a newly opened dog park along Linwood Ave, there is a community garden committee, a pond not far from the children's play area, there is building named "Casino" which I think doubles as a daycare center. Patterson Park has many events that take place all year long, there is a float parade with obstacles once a year, wine festivals, free concerts, sports fields, walking paths, there is even a fountain where people use to take their dogs to run before the recent dog park was built. There are sculptures and areas to relax and enjoy some shade on a hot sunny day. This park has just about everything you can think if not more. read more

Lots of open space, park benches, several cherry blossom and magnolia trees, and sitting higher up than surrounding parts of the city so that it gets a consistent breeze make this a nice spot to picnic, which we saw several people doing. However, there was a fair amount of litter, especially at the gazebo, and lots of dog poo even on the walkways. I didn't see any stray dogs, and I assume that the ones who stick to walkways came with humans, sooo... A lady yelled at me because she thought I was taking a picture of her and/or her dogs. I wasn't; I was taking a picture of the Old Bay Spice garbage can. Given how aggressive she was, I would've appreciated it if she'd apologized, but of course she didn't. Makes me wonder about the other human elements frequenting this place. My fiancé expressed concerns about coming here in the first place, saying that the park wasn't very safe at night. On the one hand, he does express concerns about the safety of a lot of areas that I feel fine in, but on the other, he is a surgeon at Johns Hopkins, and knows where their (often gunshot) patients come from. read more

Good big park, lots of areas to walk your dog and has also an off-leash area for your large and small dogs to play. It's sort of crowded in the off-leash area though. Lots of the big dogs play a little rough also. read more

I love Patterson Park and always enjoy any activity here. From a relaxing walk around the pond, to a run around the figure 8 path, a swim in the public pool, or sled-riding down the Pagoda Hill, there is always something active to do. The Pagoda is beautifully restored and has amazing views of the city and beyond. There are many areas of the park to relax and have a picnic, sit and people watch, or read a book. Also, many activities take place here year round - from Halloween Lantern Parades to concerts to various festivals! Fun for everyone! read more
