A few issues: Locker rooms are downstairs and only accessible via stairwell. This was challenging for the boys to get through. There's an elevator labeled for those with accessibility needs only. The entrance has no automatic doors, so challenging to work through traffic there as well. Don't know if it was the weather or just the preference, but the rinks were unusually cold. Many parents opted to stand in the back. (That was probably also for social reasons) Lastly, the lobby could use more seating. I did like the seats by the glass, which gave a nice view of the ice.

The doors were locked and 4 teams of children had to wait at the locked doors for close to a half an hour. So did their parents. We walked in and there is garbage under tables and chairs in the lobby, the rugged areas have popcorn and garbage all over them. The stands have, you guessed it, garbage everywhere.One of the sheets of ice has no paint! And there is a squirt team scheduled to play on it right now. The locker rooms are filthy and full of garbage. The other sheet of ice is tore up- it needs to be zambonied twice. And the concession stand is dark with the cage pulled down. Mind you, there are 4 teams of parents and it is 7am- where's the coffee?! The last time we were here, the rink we were scheduled to play on broke the night before and there was a thick layer of water on the ice. The rink put our kids on to play, hours after they knew it was broke. It was dangerous. The game was aborted but it never should have begun. I'd like to give zero stars! This is easily the worst run rink in the city limits.

Griff's IceHouse West is the only indoor ice facility in Holland. It's used by several local high…read moreschool hockey teams, and it serves as home ice for Hope College's hockey team. Griff's West boasts TWO full sized hockey rinks, named blue and red. It hosts what you'd expect: youth hockey through adult leagues, a pro shop, snack bar, public skating, and skate rental. An added touch is that this space is run by the Grand Rapids Griffins professional hockey club, so Griff's is decked in Griffins player photos, season schedule, and other memorabilia. It also means a solid central management that takes care of the building. Public skating is nice here, although sometimes there's music playing and sometimes there's not. (I wish music played all the time--I don't even care what kind.) And be aware the building to me seems really really cold even compared to other ice rinks, so unless you're skating hard, bundle up. Same goes if you're watching hockey here; layer up or you'll be chilly on the aluminum bleachers. But cold means better ice, so pick your pleasure. Pro tip: Sign up through their website to receive their public skate schedules texted to you. This is nice.

We make a trek to Michigan every year for the 4th of July and this is always on the list. The kids love it and it's always a good time. They run specials throughout the summer for things like "all day play" that make it a bit easier on the wallet. They're always well staffed and the place is HUGE. Bonus points for keeping things clean and up to date as I can imagine it's quite an undertaking on a location this big.

The bathrooms were nasty, I felt like a needed a shower after being in them and the stall doors didn't even lock. And the multiple times that we had to inform a worker of something, like the syrup being out in the fountain pop, they didn't show an ounce of concern. I even had one literally tell my wife, that's not my job. Also, I called a couple days before to ask a question, answering machine said they were busy with customers and would call back.... Never did.

There's a big, brand new playground that was just put in at the end of April - there were lots of kids enjoying the many play structures with lots of climbing options. I loved the bright colors and fresh paint! The swings weren't hung yet when we were there, but they looked to be coming soon. The park also includes a large grassy field where football practice was happening - it was fun watching the kids run their drills having fun with their team. We set up our yoga space under a tree nearby and it was a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The park has a splash pad, picnic tables, restrooms, a sledding hill, and a small parking lot. This is a wonderful neighborhood spot and we saw lots of families and people walking nearby and in the park. I'd love to bring a blanket and a book here to read and relax in nature.

The facility is large and has some nice amenities like the snack bar and space for watching. I think they are adding on to the parking lot, which is nice as it can get pretty crowded. The popcorn and pop is not very consistent - sometimes it's fresh and tasty, other times I've had stale popcorn and flat pop. But it's pretty cheap at $2 for a small popcorn and $2.75 for a small drink. They also have fries, hot dogs, chicken strips, and other snacks. The facility is always really clean and bright. It's fun to see different groups playing and practicing soccer, especially the youth leagues. Nate told me he's seen fencing tournaments there before, which I'd love to watch someday!

They have 2 full size indoor fields with well kept turf. No low sitting ceiling nets. They have 2 short indoor fields, and some volleyballs courts. They also have a functioning snack bar, and a equipment retail store. Was quite different than what I'm use to. If I hadn't joined a team in jenison I would probably prefer this complex since it's closer to where I live, and has newer fields.
