Patsy Cline Historic House in Winchester VA

I wish I had time to do more than look at the outside and listen to Patsy Cline sing "Crazy" on Youtube. The marker reads: Patsy Cline (Virginia Patterson Hensley), world-famous singer, lived in this house. She was born in Winchester Memorial Hospital on 8 September 1932. On January 21 1957, she won Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts national television show's competition singing "Walkin' After Midnight." In 1961, "I Fall to Pieces" became a hit. Her iconic "Crazy" was released a year later. Her haunting voice took her to the top of the charts, and her style and popularity have never waned. She died in an airplane crash on March 5, 1963 in Camden, Tennessee. In 1973, she was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Cline is interred at nearby Shenandoah Memorial Park.

I had a nice visit here. The docents were very welcoming and knowledgeable. The tour, which took about 45 minutes, was full of historical facts and fun anecdotes about Patsy's life. There are items in each room of the house that actually belonged to Patsy. The rest of the items were selected for the home with the help of Patsy's relatives who remembered how the house looked when Patsy lived there. They seemed to take great care in choosing the items to make things look as accurate as possible. This is a near piece of history in Winchester!

Delightful tour and the staff were knowledge and personable. Loved the care that is apparently taken with all of the items in the home. Cute little gift store. Loved it even more since I grew up with my Dad listening to Patsy Cline and we did choose one of her songs as our wedding song!

Beautiful sunshiny day. The preservation of her passion and the staff were very enjoyable. Thank you.
