El Rancho 49er Bar - Dukes Old Fashion

We were a party of four and wanted to get a drink while waiting for a dinner table. First thing he said to us was "I am not serving food", I thought that's odd no hellos or welcoming remarks. One of us said we just a want a drink. He continued conversing with an old couple and then they left. The bartender then started cleaning or "something" with his back towards us, so we waited patiently for him to address us. He finally turned around and one of us asked him if someone was sitting at the bar where it looked like the customer was finished, the bartender said yeah there's somebody there. We prob waited another few minutes standing in front of the bar and the bartender never said "hello what can I offer you to drink" or anything to the effect of being welcoming to the bar. When we finally sat down he kept tending to "things" behind the bar before he even addressed us with a dismissive attitude while asking us "what do you want?" I finally asked if he's ok? He stated "yeah I'm ok" and then got defensive and replied with the same annoyed attitude he had while we were walking up to the bar. He replied with a sense of arrogance "are you ok?" His arrogant delivery was very crass and I asked why he was having an attitude with our party. And he just laughed under his breath. We rode motorcycles for over 4 days and we just wanted a beer in a nice atmosphere but did not receive any of the basic customer service from this place. I do not recommend this place unless you just want to be annoyed with bad customer service with a sense of arrogance from a bartender who should be more welcoming especially in a customer service venue. To the bartender: if you lack sensitivity and customer oriented dialog you probably should stop working in the hospitality industry. You are not good for your company image. At any rate terrible customer service, felt like the bartender was only worried about receiving a tip basing his judgements on customers appearance.

The hostess was nowhere to be found, finally I think a server started to sit people so I had her put our names down. 30 mins later, we sat. Ugh. Finally ordered that it took a while as well. Somewhat frustrated with our visit, to say the least.

I knew after dinner we may wanna grab 1 more drink so I had checked to see if there were any new spots sine the last time we were in town. I hadn't heard of this Teddy Roe's so we grabbed a reservation for the late evening. After getting dropped off by a car we tried to find the entrance. I'm not going to give away the trick to it but it was fun. Once inside we got our spot that we held. I didn't see a drink on their menu that I liked that was rum based, so I asked the kind bartender if they could make me one. I only asked that it be alcohol forward, but that I was good if it was a more fruity drink too. They brought me a concoction that was perfect. It's a real nice place. The ornate ceiling and the beautiful bar added to the regal vibes of the place. I would definite recommend Teddy's; it's one of the best speakeasies in town.

I don't care for jazz. But it was great music and the place was packed. Everyone was enjoying it all and the vibe was a good one to be around. Arcy was behind the bar and suggested a few drinks. They were both good. Deviled eggs were good and the pickled purple onions were a good touch - though I still haven't come across deviled eggs that are better than my own The special of the day was pork chops. I'm not a pork person but I chanced it anyhow. I'll have to say, it was probably the best pork chop I've ever had. They sousvided it and it came with apple butterand it all worked beautifully. All in all, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Well done!

The menus are on a vinyl, to match their theme. And their drink menu is fun. What was disappointing was that 1. we had to wait 25 minutes for a bartender to show up and get our orders, then another long time to get the drinks. After the wait, a second drink was out of the question. 2. This is a vinyl lounge, and even though they had a setup for a DJ, there was no one playing but a speaker. 3. Some or our drinks did not come out with all the "frills" and effects as described on the menu, so we missed part of the experience. Not sure if it was an off night for them but my experience wasn't great.

We heard about Zema when in town so when we got a evening open we stopped in the other day. The walk up was pretty great. The location is a refurbished motel. We walked into a couple gals working the front desk. Long story short I rubbed the wrong banana but they helped me out. Once inside we grabbed a table a appreciated the clubs layout. They have some retro club music going, but no DJ. When we left about an hour later a DJ hadn't steppe dup, but the music was pretty good all the same. We had to wait for our 1st drink for a while. The gal at the front said the DJ has stepped away for a while but would be back soon enough. The drinks were ok, the service was so-so. We really wanted to like the place, hopefully next time things are more together.

I would highly recommend Tinnin's, if you want to relax, with or without the family. Robbie Tinnin, the Club manager, is super nice, patient, and very accommodating. If you want to spend a night or two or three they have a newly remodeled lodge which is extremely nice. My son and I stayed here a night and didn't want to leave. Photography-This is a wonderful venue for all wildlife photographers. They offer spectacular views of the Middle Rio Grande Valley (they are almost on top of the Rio Grande river). Some of the animals you could photograph (from a blind) include: Rio Grande turkeys Sandhill Cranes Mule Deer Javelina Coyote Elk Geese Ducks Pheasant Quail Chukar Countless songbirds Fishing-A catch and release largemouth bass pond. The bass are feisty and fight hard on a lure. They also have a giant channel catfish pond. Forget your rod, reel or tackle? No problem, they have these and will loan them to you. My son caught a nice largemouth bass after fishing for only 10 minutes. I caught two smaller ones, so he definitely beat me. Dog training-They are working in conjunction with a professional trainer, Ernest G., to teach pointing and retrieving on-site. My son was able to shoot at a live bird and the pointer retrieved it very quickly. Shooting Sports-If you want to hone your shotgun skills, this is the place to visit. Robbie is the clay thrower and offers tips on how to improve your stance and hit more clays. There is 5 stand, sporting clays, and wobble trap. They offer a variety of clay sizes including standard, medium, minis, and a super thin, fast clay that is almost impossible to hit! My son shot some of the sporting clay stations and they are extremely challenging, even for those advanced shooters. Archery-They have a 3D archery course where you can improve your bow skills. Hunting-Bird hunting with a shotgun includes pheasant, chukar and quail and if you don't have a dog, no problem, they will provide one. Other bird species to hunt are ducks, snow geese, Canada geese, sandhill cranes, doves, and turkeys. They offer big game hunting including elk, and deer. You could also call a coyote in as well. The Lodge is newly remodeled and offers: fully stocked kitchen and bar, living/game room complete with 3 televisions, a pool table and a shuffleboard table, two bathrooms, and four bedrooms (handicap accessible). They offer a steam shower in one of the bathrooms to get rid of any aches and pains. We had so much fun here, we will be back soon. Thanks Robbie, for making this a first class facility.
