You would think that nice salty chips and spicy salsa would pair well with a cold beer. It would make you thirsty for another thus adding to their bottom line. It's probably for the best after that salty mess last night at the Garage restaurant in Oklahoma. I still feel like Lot's wife after she looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah. My bubbly server took my order of a beer and a Mexicali hamburger steak (closest thing to meatloaf that I could get). It came to my table piping hot. My steak was covered in chopped green chilis, and was extremely delicious. The beans and rice were standard, so no woop there. Panz Alegra was pretty busy on this Saturday night. You can sit in the bar area, or the regular restaurant. The bar was a hoppin', while where I was seated was pretty tame. Unless you consider the exuberant busboy dancing his way to tables entertaining. He made me a bit nervous. The guy was one misstep away from adding more dishes to my table than I was comfortable with. Ricky Martin he was not. You can't go wrong with Panz. You can get better, but who wants to drive all the way to Las Cruces. Quick Tip: This place boasts American-Mexican-Italian food on its menu. Interesting. I never would have thought that American food would find its way on the menu. Oh, from the outside, the restaurant looks abandoned. One of many relics you can find along Route 66. But don't be deterred. There's people inside, dancing and otherwise.

The Chile Releno was reallly good and had a lot of flavor to it. The tacos were pretty basic and the rice was good. My meal came with a large folded flour tortilla with a butter pad that confused me. The menu was expansive and some of the burgers that passed by me looked really good. They touted a sign that said an best authentic mexican food award, but really its tex-mex. Ill go again for sure try more and update.

Our server, Cleo was very nice and friendly. The drinks all came out tasting delicious. All of our food was cooked great. My husband noted that the appetizer sampler tasted better than usual. My dad loved the bourbon Street chicken, served on a platter similar to fajitas. We had a great experience at this Applebee's. The interior is nice, with art pleasant to the eyes. All in all, I would come back again if I were in the area on a road trip or stopping through town.

The location was close and it was a comfortable stay. Our room was nice, especially with the comfortable bed. In fact, of all the places we stayed at during our Arizona road trip, I'd say this hotel had the most comfortable bed. We only stayed for one night and since we had a lot of hiking planned, we needed to get up early. But I truly could've slept here for hours! If only... In addition to a comfortable bed, there was a mini fridge, TV with cable, free wifi, coffee and tea with a Keurig machine, toiletries, hair dryer, AC, etc. Our room was also on the bottom level, so we had sliding patio doors that walked out to the pool. The upper levels had balconies. The only bummer about staying here was that we thought there would be a continental breakfast, which is what Holiday Inn is known for. Unfortunately, there is no free breakfast. They do have a restaurant in the hotel, and it closes at 8pm. (We learned this the hard way.) Also, there were a ton of stray dogs around, which we didn't mind. But something to note if you don't like or are scared of dogs. They didn't bother the guests. We tried to feed them whatever food we had since they sadly looked hungry. Poor babies! Overall, this was a good stay. If you're in the area and are planning to visit Canyon De Chelly, you can't beat this location. And you'll want to sleep in the bed all night and morning long!
