The service was friendly, but the food was unfortunately mediocre. We visited for a late dinner last night and were seated immediately. I ordered the Leading Lady salad without cheese, and my friend ordered the Mac and Cheese. About 20-30 minutes after we placed the order, our waiter informed us that they were out of the Mac and Cheese. It's fine if you're out of a menu item, but letting us know after we had already been waiting for that long seemed inappropriate. Eventually, my salad came out covered with cheese, even though I asked for no cheese. The chicken that came with it was also very dry. My friend opted for the BBQ brisket sliders in lieu of the Mac and Cheese, and he noted that the meat was dry and that there wasn't enough BBQ sauce. The fries were decent, though. I don't understand the bad reviews on here for 49er Bar? We found the service to be fantastic! Shortly after we sat down a gentleman came over to take our order. And then about 2 minutes after that a lady came over to take our order. The drinks were delicious. They're all named after old movie stars. And we also had the chips and 3 dips appetizer. The food was ok, the drinks were great. But the service was terrible. Waited 45 mins to an hr just to put our names in. The hostess was nowhere to be found, finally I think a server started to sit people so I had her put our names down. 30 mins later, we sat. Ugh. Finally ordered that it took a while as well. Service was non existent by the male bartender at the bar that is adjacent to the gift shop; he had dark hair prob about 35yrs old, he worked on the evening of Sunday, June 8, 2025 at about 730pm. We were a party of four and wanted to get a drink while waiting for a dinner table. First thing he said to us was "I am not serving food", I thought that's odd no hellos or welcoming remarks. One of us said we just a want a drink. He continued conversing with an old couple and then they left. The bartender then started cleaning or "something" with his back towards us, so we waited patiently for him to address us. He finally turned around and one of us asked him if someone was sitting at the bar where it looked like the customer was finished, the bartender said yeah there's somebody there. We prob waited another few minutes standing in front of the bar and the bartender never said "hello what can I offer you to drink" or anything to the effect of being welcoming to the bar. When we finally sat down he kept tending to "things" behind the bar before he even addressed us with a dismissive attitude while asking us "what do you want?" I finally asked if he's ok? He stated "yeah I'm ok" and then got defensive and replied with the same annoyed attitude he had while we were walking up to the bar. He replied with a sense of arrogance "are you ok?" His arrogant delivery was very crass and I asked why he was having an attitude with our party. And he just laughed under his breath. We rode motorcycles for over 4 days and we just wanted a beer in a nice atmosphere but did not receive any of the basic customer service from this place. I do not recommend this place unless you just want to be annoyed with bad customer service with a sense of arrogance from a bartender who should be more welcoming especially in a customer service venue. To the bartender: if you lack sensitivity and customer oriented dialog you probably should stop working in the hospitality industry. You are not good for your company image. At any rate terrible customer service, felt like the bartender was only worried about receiving a tip basing his judgements on customers appearance. read more

Bartender claimed we already had drinks prior to visiting because he can "smell it off of us." Then denied draft service. When we took a second look at menu he said he will come back another time and immediately left. Ruined our night as we just wanted to have a good time. Wondered if it was due to the fact we were the only native americans in the bar but seeing other reviews makes me think it was the bartender disliking his life style. Bald man with glasses. After a horrific experience at the adjacent restaurant bar, we decided to visit the "Real" bar, the 49ers Bar at the El Rancho Hotel. We like to sit AT the bar, but it was full, so we grabbed a nearby table. I tried to order the first drink on their menu, which was some version of an Old-Fashioned. The waitress told me they were out of bitters. I asked if they could make a French 75. No. So, we both ordered gin and tonics. How do you mess up a gin and tonic? Order one at the El Rancho 49er Bar, and make sure they use a lot of FLAT tonic. Other people in the bar seemed to be drinking margaritas or beer. I would suggest that would be your wisest choice if you visit. read more

This bar is not fancy inside, but it has an old charm of a saloon. It is an excellent place to drink and unwind. The cocktail menu is named after old Hollywood celebrities. The drink prices are not bad. The ambiance is relaxed and casual. read more

Received hamburger with green chili and cheddar cheese. The hamburger was under cooked. The burger was stacked so high that squeezing it down made it fall apart. Don't visit when it's busy. The servers are angry. The bartender is slammed. The food quality declines. And worst of all, coping methods are reduced to 3 drinks maximum. That guarantees a short stay here. So be sure to get some spirits across the street at Shop and Save before you start your night. I had to send my burger back and the server didn't want to accommodate. She blamed me as a customer for not ordering what she thought I would like. Val was our server and usually bartends. They're somewhere between open and closed while renovating,even though the renovations are outside. Front door so my friend and I walked in. Across the foyer the bar door was wide open. We walkied in and the waitress, sitting at atable with other people, put a hand over her mouthan pointed at me, and with a horrified face shouted "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Then one of the other people muttered "the carpets." Apparently the carpets were high end and for sale. And the bar was closed. With both doors wide open, all lights on, staff inside, and not a "CLOSED" sign anywhere. And highend merchandise on the floor. ON. THE. FLOOR. My friend and I left. read more

Went in as the bartender saw us I heard him mumble "f***" under his breath in a annoyed manner. waited 10 minutes to be waited on as the bartender a male individual Saw us and continued talking to a friend until our party had to approach the bar to be served. This was at 10:45. Didn't get a drink until 11:15. They were not busy and the bartender continued to talk with friends. This has been the worse interaction I've ever had. Giving 5 stars just for the bartender who was the only person working the bar and dining room and managed to tender to everyone in a timely manner, cater to requests, keep the place clean as a whistle, and be super friendly all while doing so. Very much not an easy job, but she handled it like a champ. read more
