We just found this restaurant a couple of weeks ago, had lunch there today. In Dunlap, not too many things change so a new restaurant is a big deal. We were cautiously optimistic as El Metate has been a staple here for years. It's okay, but just okay. Our experience at Patron Mexican Grill could not have been better. They go out of their way to serve you. The food was delicious, the amount and presentation were unbeatable. The chef offered us a free flan for dessert when he learned it was our first time. Both my chimichanga and my husbands tacos were very good! Most Mexican restaurants can't cook a chimichanga correctly, it is usually dry and hard to cut, but this was juicy, tender and not too spicy. I'm not one to leave negative reviews but the last time I went here last month was my last. I've debated posting this review since. Only been to this restaurant 3 times. Every time, the main lady is not friendly and couldn't care less if you're waiting 5+ minutes for a table, waiting on a refill, waiting for Togo box, waiting to pay...all of which with the restaurant empty...this lady does not care. This is just the icing on the cake. Draft beer tasted watery and flat (didn't even finish), food lacks flavor, and just an overall horrible experience every time. The last time I left with horrible stomach pain I've never had before. To be honest, I haven't had Mexican food since because of it. Very disappointing place. read more

We went here on a whim and it turned out to a darn good whim. We've tried the other two Mexican places and I thought this place has them beat. My 8-year-old daughter loved her chicken enchilada plate, my wife the chicken verde enchiladas and liked her meal as well. I had the burrito bandera and it was LOADED with steak and chicken. Ask for the house hot sauce--amazing flavor and just enough heat to get the nose running. Service was good though it was one waitress running it all. She did a great job waiting on all the tables and was pleasant personality. There wasn't blaring music or tv channels, which was nice to hear the conversation. Overall it was a good value for what it cost and the portions were large. We'll be going back for sure. read more

Great food, we have had a few times where service was almost nonexistent. We had a party of 7 at a front table and only one other family came in after us. We ordered our food then watched after 30min the second family got their food. Mentioned it to the waiter and food halfway came out and finally got all of our food while the other family finished and left. We're the only two families in the entire restaurant in the early afternoon. read more

Good food, poor service. Way understaffed. I met my Son in law there for lunch. We ordered a couple beers and had to remind them multiple times. The beers arrived just well after we finished and were ready to go. I always order the Gusio Mazatlan and got something totally different, but didn't send it back because their kitchen was sooo slow. I also ordered Tomatillo sauce and never got that even though I reminded the server several times. Although she didn't forget to add it to the bill. read more

We there about a month ago and chose a vegetarian dinner the food was good the portions were generous and the price was fair the service was really nice the place seem clean and they weren't very busy I'm coming back today to pick up a burrito Grande to take home for my husband for dinner read more

This is a nice place for lunch. They offer the usual Mexican menu including tacos, burritos and fajitas. They also have a large selection of lunch specials including vegetarian options. The service is always good and the food comes out hot. You are greeted with a free bowl of chips and salsa which is quit good. The food is consistent and the restaurant is always clean. They offer beer and the back page of the menu is dedicated to adult beverages. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11:00 to 9:00.. An affordable restaurant. read more

Patron's definitely needs someone to QA the orders from the kitchen; one order (burrito) arrived fine, but the other order (Trio Salad) was a disaster...lacked salad items and the protein (steak/chicken) was like leather. The serving staff needs adult supervision...bring back the manager who went to the Soddy Daisy location. Patron can't sustain this type of poor service...I overheard people at nearby tables complaining as well. read more

We went to Dunlap, TN on Sunday for a festival that was happening. We met up with some friends that live in Dunlap and after walking around the fair grounds we decided to have lunch. There was a concert that was to start at 4pm. so this would help pass the time till the concert started. Our friends recommended Patron's. They have been there before and have liked the food. We did visit Patron's with these same friends, but that was a long time ago. Chuck did tell us not to order any food that had ground beef. I should have asked him why, but forgot. We all ordered fajitas except for Chuck. He order tacos with shredded chicken. The fajitas were very bland with no flavor at all. Chuck's tacos were very good though. Our friends were very disappointed as well as us. The first time we were there some time ago I remember the food was not all that good either. So we agreed to give them another chance. I do not think that we will be going back. We like our food to have flavor in every bite. If you like food that is completely bland then this is for you. It could be that the kitchen staff forgot to season the fajita meat and vegetables. There are plenty of restaurants in Dunlap and many of them our Hispanic to chose from. We will be trying others before we go back to Patron's. read more

The old El Patron was great. The new not so much. I ate lunch there today the burrito tasteless ground beef wrapped and covered in tomato sauce was yuck. The shredded beef taco meat tasted burned. I asked for spicier salsa for the chips got charged 75 cents for it. Outrageous I have never been charged for salsa before. The old El Patron brought you 3 different salsas to the table no charge. I doubt if I will ever go to this establishment again. read more
