I really did not want to get into a back-and-forth battle on Yelp. I tried to be very fair in my review, giving Patrick credit for the pros of going with him. But I am again bothered by his excuses that try to make ME seem unreasonable. If all of his clients are really so satisfied with his services, then why did I get at least some (if not entirely) negative feedback from over half of the references that he himself provided me? Also, all of the wedding books and websites said to make sure vendors have liability insurance. All my other vendors have insurance, as well as a back-up plan for finding us a substitute professional if anything were to prevent them from completing their services. "I never get sick and have never missed a wedding before" is somewhat impressive, but not completely reassuring, since a lot of things can happen that are out of anyone's control. I tried to point this out, only to be met with persistent unsatisfactory responses from Patrick. While he just presented me with a list of service options to choose from in his initial email (and I actually thought, "Great, he's not pushy"), during our meeting he kept trying to push extra services on me even when I repeatedly said that we were only interested in DJ & MC services. My friend was sitting at a table near us and commented afterward that it looked like I could hardly get a word in during our meeting. Patrick's talkativeness went far beyond providing useful wedding information. I have had much more pleasant and helpful conversations with every other potential wedding vendor I've talked to. I don't find his "humor" very appealing, and neither did some of his clients who hired him and were actually on his reference list. read more

I do not recommend this DJ at all. He only sang 2 songs through out the whole night. He basic sat down all night and did nothing besides playing songs the playlists. What a waste of money. Patrick is very passionate about entertaining. Very professional and organized. We initially hired him for his bilingual officiating services, but decided to take advantage of all his services. When you compare the cost of his services with others, it's a no brainer to get the full package. He was a hit with our ALL (Chinese speaking and non-Chinese speaking) wedding guests. Many of them asked how we found him - the Internet of course. After some meetings, email exchanges and agreeing to the services, we were extremely delighted that he had a full agenda planned - we had no clue of what we wanted, but it was a great start as it gave us ideas. It is a belated review. (Really late) We had our wedding in August, 2011. At that time, we tried to find a bilingual officiant, since that half of my guest cannot speak English. One word: awesome! He is as perfect of an emcee/DJ/wedding organizer as we could ever asked for. Since day one that we first contacted him to our wedding date, he had been very responsive to all of our emails and addressed all of our concerns accordingly. And on the day of, he came in, set up everything, and started playing music before we even arrived. Throughout the night, he just never stopped entertaining and wowing the crowd! I wish there was an option to give Patrick more stars! We love his work! He was our Tea Ceremony coordinator, officiant, MC, DJ, singer, entertainer - don't let the looks fool you, he really is a ONE MAN SHOW (that's his motto). We were a little hesitate to hire him in the beginning, because we weren't sure that one person can handle everything that we needed. But we decided to give him a chance, as his price was affordable - and he was willing to work with us on our schedule. He has a few package options- and he was 'suggesting' for us to pick a package with him singing. Again, we doubted him - and asked him to give us a demo - he blew us away - he is an incredible singer!!! All our guests loved him - and mentioned that he was the best rendition of Jacky Cheung - ever. (He is bi-lingual- fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin). He was with us the entire day of the wedding. He came 2 hours early to the location of the ceremony, set up his equipment and even helped us set up our equipment setup. He first executed the tea ceremony and knew exactly what to say. He performed as an officiant in both Cantonese and English, which pleased/impressed everyone. He has his own script / vows - which you can edit (we didn't, it was very deep and meaningful as is). During the banquet, he represented us so well - people came up to ask us if he was a close family friend or relative. He knew what to say, what to do and how to act - he made our entire day smooth and fun. Did we mention we love him? Patrick is a very professional, organized and flexible. We hired him as our bilingual emcee, DJ and singer and also asked him to hire a female signer, Ida, to perform on our banquet. Patrick is very funny and both Ida and Patrick are excellent singers. My guest were greatly entertained and they enjoyed their singing a lot. We got a lot compliments afterward. Also, his cost is extremely reasonable and that's the reason why we hired 2 people on our wedding. One thing I really appreciate Patrick's help on that night. Originally we had a run down for the night but the restaurant screwed up our seating and we spent too much time on re-arranging our guest right before the party and our banquet started late. We didn't want everything got push back and knew we can no longer follow our run down. Luckily Patrick was extremely experience and flexible on this. He re-arranged our run down right away and told us what to do during the banquet. If there is something we may have to skip, he asked us and gave us suggestion on what to do. My husband and I got married in October 11th at Shakespeare Garden with our closest family and friends. Patrick officiated the ceremony and played as our DJ. He was responsive, punctual, humorous, made everyone enjoy our celebration with laughter and tears. My husband found Patrick on Yelp and then we realized he was graduated from USC like we both did, which was such a fantastic fact and a lucky sign. We had our rehearsal one week before the wedding with me, a bride-to-be with running nose and sore throat, and my husband with a pre-wedding nerve who spent an extra hour to find the right address. But fortunately Patrick's great sense of humor and gentle words comforted our nerves. On the wedding day, Patrick arrived on time and played the music list I sent him before just right. The music player he brought was not too loud and not too weak, and the music effect was just perfect. We received a lot of requests for our song list after the wedding and we recommended Patrick to several couples who'd like to have their wedding in the next year. Another awesome thing when we changed our vows: Patrick made a little joke about Starbucks after my husband's vow, without knowing I would also mention Starbucks in my vow. My husband and I hired Patrick as our MC/DJ for our wedding two weeks ago. I was at my wit's end trying to find someone locally who could speak decent Chinese and English. His high spirits and enthusiasm made our day extra special for us. My husband and I got married December 2014 and in the midst of holiday celebrations and travels--I am finally writing my review on Patrick! Usually I'm not one to write reviews if the service was phenomenal and I end up walking away feeling satisfied along with no complaints; however, I do feel that I owe this review to Patrick and to soon-to-be married couples that potential might choose him as their wedding emcee. If your family and guests speak a mixture of Cantonese, Mandarin, and English--then Patrick is the MAN for you! We first saw Patrick at one our cousin's wedding, and from our first impression of him we were amazed by how hard he works. He's literally a one-man show, the full package! And at the time my husband and I weren't engaged yet, but made it a deal without hesitation that this IS the guy we wanted for our future wedding. (DJ) Fast forward to our wedding preparation, we hired Patrick as our emcee and DJ for our wedding banquet. His contract and the services he provide were clear, organized, detailed, and flexible for change. Being the overwhelmed bride that I was prior to my wedding day, I was in no position in wanting to create my own playlist for Patrick to play during the duration of my reception. However, thanks to Patrick, he made it flexible for me! There were a few songs that I only cared about at certain times of the reception such as: Entrance, Bouquet Toss, First Dance etc., in which I picked out for him, and the rest he took care of it based on what genre/artist my husband and I liked. Looking back, I was super impressed with his DJ service! he played all my requested songs at the right time without forgetting, and on top of that he played songs in between my reception, which kept the energy alive. (Emcee) OMG, we ALL loved him. My parents, friends, and family said he was funny and full of character. Patrick knew how to adjust to our crowd and at the same time had the ability to turn every curve ball jokes thrown at us (newlyweds) from our family into something so hilarious. He does covers on American and Cantonese songs and although a lot of people might be expecting for the next American Idol on their wedding day, Patrick is no American Idol, he instead is an AWESOME entertainer! We, my family, and guests all loved his singing and thought it matched up our moods--my reception would've been so boring without his presence. Also I would love to add that he was really good with his words, and made me and my husband feel extremely special with his blessings throughout the night. One thing that I admired about his emcee service is that he works really hard and continues to work with the crowd whenever there were unscheduled moments (dress changes, toast etc) and down time. He definitely knew how to control the crowd and most impressively an advocate for the newlywed. For example, our restaurant site forgot to set up plates and utensils on the cake cutting table prior to the start our our reception, and since he was there early he noticed the unfinished task and notified one of the waiters to have it set up immediately. At the end of the night, some of our guests and family members were so happy and impressed that they came up to us and complimented him on his professionalism and hard work. Patrick is very punctual, responsive, flexible, clear on what he provides, and good at what he does. He kept an open communication and worked along with us in terms of what we liked and were looking for. I hired Patrick to MC and DJ our Chinese banquet. Our guests were about 1/3 older Cantonese speakers and 2/3 English speakers (mostly non-Chinese). We wanted everyone to have fun, so we decided to find a bilingual MC to lead the night. We opted for the package that included DJ, MC, karaoke, and Patrick's signing. I was skeptical of Patrick's singing abilities because he didn't have any video to show. You can believe the good reviews - he is really good. He started singing an Ed Sheeran song, and everyone assumed it was the original song being played until they looked up and saw that it was Patrick. Patrick did a great job keeping everything on schedule and hitting all the marks. He even did well splicing the shortened songs for the first dance, father daughter dance, and mother son dance. A few hiccups: our introductory song for the bride and groom didn't play, so the entrance felt a little awkward; the karaoke equipment gave a lot of feedback when other people were singing. But technical difficulties are common risks, I guess. And I will say that communicating with Patrick can be annoying because he's prone to going on long rants. It almost made me want to forget the whole thing; but just stick it out. Patrick totally comes through and is totally worth it. His price is about half as much as everyone else I inquired about. He delivered everything we wanted: kept the party going strong; announced all necessary party information; entertained Chinese and non-Chinese guests (non-Chinese guests even said they'd hire him for their own event!); customized music playlists based on our direction; sang great; and helped make our wedding memorable for all the guests. My husband and I wanted our guests to be entertained at our wedding reception. The problem was that although a majority of our guests spoke English, some of my side spoke Cantonese and his side spoke Mandarin. This is where Patrick Wang came in. Patrick is not only entertaining but reasonable and down to earth. At my wedding , he did a great job entertaining both my Chinese and American guests. Patrick was able talk and sing several hours straight (may I add he does not charge overtime fees). Patrick was able to ensure my timelines and guidelines were followed, work around all the last minute changes, and adapt/understand the sometimes crazy Chinese traditions. The only downfall, I believe is that he should probably have someone help him with his ipod; when we changed songs for our grand entry as bride and groom, he had to stop to look for our song.
