I do not have enough words to describe our experience with this studio. We had booked another company for our wedding day as we were trying to save some money. We originally met with Patken because of a few recommendations including my parents from 29 years ago. We loved them, unfortunately we made the mistake of looking at price rather than quality. Long story short, we booked another studio. This place which I will review eventually (legal proceedings to get our money back) wound up causing us so much grief leading up to the wedding from losing our engagement photos to not getting the hall required insurance. We wound up having to cancel with them two weeks prior to our October wedding. We had lost all confidence and our hall would not allow them in without liability insurance. We decided to call Patken. We explained our situation to girl who answered the phone and she immediately put the owner Doug on the phone. To say he did right by us is an understatement. He understood that we were tight for money because of our dealings with previous studio and not getting our money back. Rather than hit us over the head and charge us crazy money. He sympathized with us and did everything he could to help us. Not only did he pull everything together for us, he gave us an amazing team. He paired us with Jessie after his initial wedding preshoot. Jessie was our photographer and John was our cinematographer. They were so easy to work with the day of and helping us to get over all we had been thru with the other photographer as we prepared. We have not yet seen the full video yet since the wedding was just in October, but we received our proof files , video trailer and we are over the moon with them. They did such an incredible job. We are thankful for everything they all did to help us. We learned a valuable lesson that some things aren't worth trying to save money on. read more

Let's start off with the initial contact with Doug. It was a pleasure being able to get in touch and from there with the rest of your team members after giving me the whole rundown and what not. Next up, Cindy who was there to help take care of of the payments and getting things ready to be set in motion. Very patient as well as being able to help in whatever ways she can when your schedule didn't work out. Absolutely awesome! Now onto the main part of this review. Me and my wife had a 2 day event from wedding to reception, and would like a huge shout out to Vinnie and John for taking care of our wedding and making sure our pictures went through smoothly despite the long life of guests wanting to take pictures with us (woo that was a while) but they kept it moving along and made sure we were taken care of as to enjoy the rest of the time. Patken Photographer was our first photographer my fiance and I went to meet with and the last we met with. From the moment we sat down with Doug, we knew we found our photographer for our big day. He made us feel incredibly comfortable and was beyond hilarious. The company is professional, and their work speaks for itself. We had our engagement shoot with Doug, as well as, an outdoor photo shoot in Battery Park with the amazing Sabrina. The photographs came out absolutely stunning, we couldn't be happier. Sabrina was also our photographer for our wedding, and Kevin shot our video. We got married on July 20, 2019, the hottest day of the year! Patken has been absolutely amazing. When we first booked them we sat with Doug. He listened to what we wanted and set up the perfect package for us. After our instudio shoot, we were matched with Steve for photography and a Michael for videography. I recommend you are clear about your thoughts of the studio session as it is really used to match you to the team that would work best for your style. Steve was AMAZING. He dealt with all the day of chaos including crazy families, bridal party running behind schedule, and the rainy weather forecast. He was quick yet got the great shots we wanted. I gave him a list of "must have" photos and he got them all! After the wedding, I asked for certain pictures to be photoshopped. He exceeded my expectations. I was blown away with what he was able to do (i.e., open all the bridal parties eyes in a picture when most were closed and fix hairs blowing in the window, get rid of unwanted double chins, and edit out background objects). Michael did an excellent job as well on both our video and trailer. When I finally got around to finalize our album, the girl I met with was EXTREMELY helpful and patient to say the very least. She sat with me for over an hour to ensure it was all perfect. She even stayed late! It was nice to see that the excellent service continued well past our wedding day. I must admit, even though Patken is a well known local company and they came highly recommended I was skeptical about using them for our 30 person CoVid compliant outdoor wedding in October. It was tough getting professionals who understood, or even cared how challenging it can be to host a wedding during the constantly changing regulations around CoVid-19. Doug and his entire staff get it. Jesse was our photographer and from our first zoom call to prep for our outdoor wedding Jesse got it. Jesse went over the entire guest list and ceremony asking questions we didn't even think about in our preparation - and we're usually pretty thorough. Not only are the pictures better than we hoped for and a great mix of casual and posed photos but our experience of working with Jesse was great. She was Awesome! Jesse made Dawn and I feel like Rock stars, giving direction without being intrusive and making sure that all the photos we asked for were taken. Jesse remembered all the VIP's names (I didn't even do that!). And many photos that Jesse saw with her keen eye were great spontaneous opportunities and have quickly become our favorites. Jesse is experienced and must have worked hard that day yet it occurred as effortless from our perspective. I can't say enough about Doug and the Patken team. They are amazing! From the moment we met Doug and saw the gorgeous quality of photos at the Wedding Showcase, we were sold. He was patient, kind, and had a great sense of humor. We hired the team for our Save the Dates and for our wedding. Vinnie was our photographer for both. The Save the Dates were gorgeous, and he custom edited them to our liking. The day of the wedding, Vinnie was early with Mike (videographer) which I really appreciated. I was so nervous and they did a great job in making me laugh and feel comfortable. My husband and I got engaged back in 2018, and we began planning our 10/10/2020 wedding right away. As the pandemic raged on this year, our plans that were in the works for years had been almost completely turned upside down. Our original wedding photographer offered a refund after informing us that they were no longer 100% comfortable shooting our wedding and that there would need to be cuts to our package - 30 days before the big day! My husband and I hired Patken for our wedding, 12/27/19 after my sister had such a great experience with Patken at her wedding. The pictures are AMAZING and their service is remarkable. Any questions that we had were answered right away and they were very easy to work with. I had Sabrina as my photographer, who makes taking pictures enjoyable and Danny as my videographer. My sister had Vinnie as her photographer, who is just as amazing! I cannot say enough good things about all of them! They are truly incredible. I used Patken for my January wedding and we couldn't be happier. Our original date was the weekend of the blizzard and everything that could go wrong did. We wound up having to cancel our wedding as Kevin and Kenny were arriving at the house for our photos and video. The weather reached a point that was beyond return. We waited too long and were so upset. All of the vendors were great but Patken went above and beyond. Those two men stayed and waited till I calmed down. They went out of their way to make the process of changing the date. The fact they didn't charge us after the team showed up was amazing. They showed up two hours early just to be safe they said. They were so good, even though we had decided to change the date, they stayed a bit took some photos and video just to document the whole process. We wound up getting married the following Saturday and they were awesome. Both of them were like members of our family. We have not received the video yet, but I can tell you we love the photos. We received them within a week of the wedding. They made what could have been a disaster great. Our albums have already been approved and we should be getting them any day. We had the pleasure of working with Doug on our wedding day. During the day, Doug constantly made us feel comfortable(because we all know some wedding poses can be awkward .) Doug knew exactly what he wanted and was super organized when directing all of us. The transition from picture to picture was done with such ease. His personality was contagious and he was able to catch PERFECT shots. We received our photos a few days later and we were amazed by how they all came out...every single picture. We just received our final photos from Doug and we are obsessed. You can tell after spending 5 minutes with him that he is a complete professional; he knows what looks good and how to achieve it. He'll ask you to move around and hold hands in weird spots but TRUST HIM! He included every family member we had and wanted pics with (even ones we forgot, sorry grandma) and they came out amazing. I've since posted a couple pics on FB and other socials and have been told by multiple married people that these are the best wedding photos they've ever seen. There is a reason why he's so highly recommended. I am a little self conscious about my weight and my teeth. His editing was realistic (didn't make me look like a supermodel) but made me feel extremely beautiful and confident and he whitened all of our teeth. I have probably the most laid back, beach bum attitude of anyone and he is a stereotypical NY A-type personality... but we meshed well and we achieved amazing results. My husband and I decided to have our wedding reception at Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck. After making those arrangements we had to decide who our wedding photographer would be. Our planner at Leonard's suggested that we use Patken Photography - it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! First up were our engagement photos with Kevin. I do not consider myself photogenic and I can be awkward when it comes to taking pictures. Fortunately, Kevin was the best at guiding us through different poses to get the best results. I loved them! & we decided that we wanted him to take our wedding photos as well. At the wedding using his warm personality, Kevin was able to get some of the most amazing shots of our family and friends.
