Something absolute can't be compared to others. It's the gold standard and should be treated as such. I'd go almost so far as to say that about Absolute Entertainment. The DJ portion of their entertaining came pretty close to absolute level for my wife and I on our recent wedding day. Things started way before the wedding with the fact that Absolute was a preferred vendor to our venue and so we gave them a shot to start the DJ searching process. Well after meeting with Matty, we were sold. I don't know if it was his energy, friendliness, truthfulness, or the fact that he reminded us of Ryan Reynolds, but something clicked and we signed on the dotted line that day. This contract included their new mirror photo booth along with a custom rustic DJ booth that was specific for our venue (how cool is that!?). Now I mention the photo booth because that'll come back into play in a bit, but first let's jump into the lead up before the wedding and the big day itself. Absolute did a great job in contacting us prior to the wedding and making sure they had all of our information correct as well as the music choices we wanted. We also got a call from Matty (who happened to be our MC for the wedding) and he ran through all of our info again. They definitely did a thorough job of preparing. On the day of the wedding, the entire ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception was awesome with Matty and Cliff (the DJ). The music choices that we wanted were played throughout the wedding and all of our must-plays were heard. Yeah maybe here and there we had a song pop up we didn't love, but nobody's perfect. Well, Matty's ability to get people on the dance floor and pump everyone up was pretty close to perfect. He was definitely a highlight of our vendors and something we'll positively remember. Now I haven't mentioned the photo booth because we ended up removing it from our contract. The pictures of their mirror photo booth on Absolute's website didn't match up with the one they were showing on social media posts. Both were nice, but it didn't really fit into our theme/style. A small annoyance in the grand scheme of things, though it also took a little time to hear back from them via email in order to get the photo booth removed. Another minor snafu, but in the entirety of everything, I'd still stick with Absolute and the five stars I threw on this review. Overall, Absolute Entertainment is legit in their ability to bring the party and make your day feel special. Their DJs listen to your music preferences and the MCs are fantastic at making your event that much more enjoyable and fun. Perhaps some side pieces aren't perfect, but in the realm of performance and music, Absolute is pretty darn absolute. read more

I went to a wedding last weekend (7-23-2021) at Smithtown Landing. It was for my nephew, where I was also honored to be the officiant as well as a guest. In short I was BLOWN AWAY by how good the DJ (Sonic) and the Emcee (Rick) were! (Side note: I own a DJ Entertainment company in CA so I know the difference!) I was so happy when I met Dj Sonic and Emcee Rick prior to the start of the ceremony. I was met with a friendly and accommodating attitude, we did a mic check to make sure everything was working and sounded perfect and they were genuinely nice people. But none of that even matters if you can't entertain! I was so impressed by their presentation, energy, and crowd interaction as well as the ability to read the room and play a wide variety of music for all ages. I was most impressed with the way they squeezed in my nephew and his beautiful brides special requests, they weren't very good dance songs but they played them in a way where everybody sang along and still had fun. We never left the floor. My nephew told Emcee Rick I was the owner of a DJ company in California, they even let me take the mic (which is very scary for an MC to do)...thanks Emcee Rick for your trust! Our wedding was a blast because of Rick and Tommy! Everything we imagined it to be absolutely came to life because of how attentive Rick was to the mood and vibes of the party. We gave him a list of must haves, and from there he selected the best music in between those songs we requested. The dance floor was packed the whole night! Our DJ (Cliff) was great at sensing the vibe and played all the right songs, including ones that we specifically requested. We recently had our wedding at Cowfish and we had Josh as our cocktail hour guitar player and Cj was our DJ. The music was awesome and in such a closed space environment it was perfectly set for the tone we wanted from our DJ. They were intuitive and were able to keep the party going while we were taking photos in the latter stages of our wedding. They were incredible and would highly recommend for any type of event whether you want a calm cocktail hour or a big loud party for the rest of the wedding. read more

Used them for my wedding about a week ago. They were fine for the ceremony. They did fine for first dances, but that's about it. We requested mostly 2000s pop punk music and some newer pop stuff. For the first 3 hours, they played 90s and early 2000s pop songs that we either didn't like, or never heard before because they were before our time. For the 3 hours, it was mostly older people dancing. After complaining twice during the night, they finally played songs we requested, but it was only for 45 minutes. Really a disappointment and made me really upset to the point of crying, since music can make or break a wedding. Would recommend finding someone else. read more

Absolute was part of our wedding package through Timber Point, after reading their reviews we chose to book with them. They were so easy to work with, even through having to postpone due to the pandemic they were the easiest phone call we made. The night before our wedding we received a call from our DJ that they were exposed to Covid and to play it safe they were going to send a different person. We ended up with Sal on our wedding day and I have to say we and all our guests LOVED him! We couldn't afford to pay extra for an MC but Sal made it seem like we had one. There were no awkward transition periods, he got almost all of our guests (even my grandmother who is 81) on the dance floor and we had a great night. The owner of Absolute Entertainment, Kevin, was a bit overbearing and came across as insincere and patronizing. Prior to the event we wasted a lot of time selecting songs on-line (as they require) only to find out that they wouldn't save because they were supposedly moving their server. They would not let us do this over phone or in person or on paper, so we had to do it all over again through their website. Also, god forbid you should have a question for them because if you don't get someone live there will be no response to your e-mails or voicemails unless you are inquiring about booking an event or adding an upgrade. They will push you for cash...no matter how far ahead you ask to pay by check. We were finally told check would not be a problem as long as we paid a couple of weeks ahead but everytime we called to make payment arrangements they said it was too soon, then 2 weeks ahead of the event we insisted on paying with a check and Kevin said he "closed out payroll" so it needed to be cash the day of event because his DJ is a "cash guy" (wink wink)....my question is if he is a "cash guy" what does you closed out payroll mean? Why would a check that would clear in 3 days not be good 2 weeks ahead....hmmmm? Funny because I made it clear I was NOT a "cash guy" before we booked them and that we would be paying by check ahead of event so as not to deal with money that night other than tips. Well they got their cash and I'm sure they paid their taxes like the rest of us. They were OK the day of the event but they didn't impress anyone in the least. They let one of the groomsmen take over the mic after he had a few too many....something we ended up laughing at but I still feel like they should have kind of checked how we felt about that before letting that go on for so long and they should have controlled their portion of the event. A couple of songs we specifically said were "must plays" did not get played. Luckily the rest of the wedding, venue and food was great because Absolute DJ was quite lackluster. I'm giving them 2 stars because while I have experienced better, I've also seen worse. read more

Neither of us listen to Top 40 music and were a bit worried about what music the DJ could play that would appeal to our guests but also encourage people to dance. Our DJ AJ created a unique mix of songs that had everyone dancing, which was particularly remarkable because we were concerned that our guests weren't a particularly dance-friendly crowd! These guys were amazing.... they kept the party going!!! From meeting Kevin, the owner, at our first appointment to the day of our wedding with our MC Brett and our DJ T.Q. who made sure that all aspects of our day would be perfect. Kevin was very patient and explained all options available and never made us feel pushed or rushed. His office showroom is very helpful in seeing all types of photo booths, marquee signs, lighting, etc. The MC Brett called us a few days prior to go over our lists and to make sure he had all name pronunciations correct and explained how the evening would go. He also made it a point to understand our ethnic related requests to which they executed perfectly. Absolutely perfect. Our emcee John called us a few days before the wedding to go over our worksheet and to confirm all of the songs we picked. And boy, did we pick some weird ones. Even for a wedding as far off the beaten path as our own, John and Absolute did an amazing job at picking songs to fill the space in between our weird requests. Often, a DJs presence at a wedding can be fine at best, and annoying at worst. Absolute completely bucks that trend. Everyone was so kind and professional, it truly seemed like they were reading our minds the entire time. We had even forgotten to request the point in which we'd like them to start our entrance song, and they nailed that without us even asking. Rob the MC from the day we met him was fantastic! We met him at our venue expo and was beyond personable! We even attended another venue expo as they were performing there and the fact that he remembered us from the West Sayville mansion impressed me very much!! He was super helpful and the DJ played some great music all night long. The heat definitely exhausted everyone but that definitely didn't stop people from dancing ! I would highly recommend absolute and ask for Rob as your MC you will not be disappointed ! And their marquee "LOVE" letters were a must have for me they were displayed right in front of the DJ! From the minute I walked into their office me and my mom felt welcomed right off the bat. rob and Kevin are hilarious! We were laughing the whole time. There showroom is extremely cool instead of just having pictures of what they have everything they offer is right there so you can see what your getting. they have an amazing Mr. & Mrs. marquee sign as well as one that says love, photo booths, uplighting, they can even project your name on the floor (which my mom loved). Very decent prices and very affordable packages. But what I loved most was the way rob talked to me and my mom we didn't feel rushed or pressured into buying anything. We were laughing they whole time it was truly and amazing experience I insisted rob and Kevin be at my wedding. When it comes to music I'm a nerd some might say elitist. My wife, not so much. Homegirl has terrible taste in music. I had to compromise; no I had to give in when it came to our Wedding Ceremony. We had an initial consultation with the owner of Absolute- WOW! He completely put the whole wedding experience into perspective with his explanation of the music per which section of the ceremony. They should be wedding councilors as well because I actually left relaxed & saw the whole picture- weird, I know. Upon the initial consultation we viewed DVD's of different locations featuring 1 of their stable of MCs & DJs per location which was amazing. They are completely interactive the concept is you go home punch in your info on the website and request your song fin return the DJ works it in on his accord. If I wanted to hear Slayer "Reign in Blood" they knew where to work it. They formulated what Wifey (Wifey elect at the time.) had discussed into a plan of sorts. We didn't want to do the garter thing, etc. they explained how you do an anniversary dance, etc.Which streamlines the reception and very efficient. Most important was the introduction of the wedding party. The Groomsmen & I rocked Lucha Libre masks. They came out to The Ramones "Blitzkrieg Bop." Wifey and I came out to Social Distortion's "Ring of Fire." The MC was great, just enough talk- not intrusive and no Chicken Dance. The DJ had people dancing that don't normally dance. I know this as fact because each one of those non dancing guys drunkenly ran or stumbled up to tell me so. Our wedding was on 9/2/2017 and we cannot be happier with Absolute Entertainment as our DJ. We had Rick as our MC, John as our DJ, and Jared as the percussionist. They were so much fun and had every guest dancing the entire party. We gave an idea of what we wanted our wedding to be like and these guys really blew us away. So absolute entertainment dj'd and photographed my cousins sweet 16 about 2 weeks ago. The music was just ok. The real kicker though came today when I received a group text from my cousin saying that absolute entertainment LOST all of the pictures they took during the 4 hour party!! And to add insult to injury they also had deleted the pictures from the hard drive BEFORE confirming that she received them. Who does that? Certainly not a professional company. My cousin has one child - one chance to throw her a beautiful Sweet 16 and they ruined it. We're now left scrambling to see who may have taken pictures on their cell phones that night so we can create some sort of memory album for our family. The unprofessional nature in which this huge mistake was handled is reason enough to NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. I only gave them one star because I was required by yelp to do so. read more

Absolute was recommended as a preferred vendor of our wedding venue. We had a wonderful experience! We met with them about 6 months before the wedding and received demonstrations of photo booths and watched videos to explain each part of the wedding (first dances, introduction, cake cutting, etc.) There was no annoying DJ demo. All of our music selection was completed online and we received a phone call from our DJ. This was all done from the comfort of our own home. We used a photo booth that came with tons of props for our guests to borrow. All staff was happy and willing to ensure that our wedding was a special night for us. read more

We first heard about Absolute Entertainment through our wedding venue, The Vineyards, since they are the only DJ on their list of recommended vendors. Although we did meet with other DJ's that our friends and family used at their weddings, Absolute was by far our favorite. We booked them exactly a year before our wedding, and they were nothing but helpful and courteous throughout the entire planning process! Our MC was Kevin (the owner) and our DJ was Cliff. We also did the photobooth through them since they offered a better deal than our photographer. It was 100% worth it and our guests loved the photobooth. Kevin called us two days before the wedding and literally went through the entire day with us, since we had everything (ceremony and reception) at The Vineyards. The violinist who played our ceremony music was fantastic. Our reception music was amazing and they played all the songs we requested. All of our guests told us that the music was superior to other weddings they had been to, and they loved that the playlist included songs from every era. Even during dinner when the DJ played songs "quietly" you could hear some of the tables singing along to the songs, which was great because everyone knew the music. During the dancing, the music was also played at a volume where you could still party BUT also still hold a conversation without having to shout till you lose your voice. All in all, my husband and I highly recommend Absolute Entertainment. I also want to add that if you are planning a wedding at The Vineyards in Aquebogue, you shouldn't think twice about booking them. There is a reason they are the only recommended DJ at that venue. It's because they have full knowledge of how your entire wedding day will go. They have been working with that venue for over a decade, and it showed the day of the wedding. I looked into Absolute Entertainment for a wedding at the recommendation of the catering hall, and then booked them after seeing them do a showcase performance. I went for the free buffet: Initially, I was apprehensive in finding 'the right' DJ for the occasion, expecting the options to be cheesy, greasy or garish: Our MC Jeff, however, was sharp, well-spoken and walked a fine line while guiding the energy level at the appropriate times without irritating the guests. Also booked with their percussionist (Paul) who was not only talented with the syncopated skills, but a really cool guy too; he gave me some crazy advice to prep me for the married lifestyle. . . (nothing my family or friends had the balls to say, or maybe they were exercising good restraint). . . Classic stuff. Anyway, the Absolute staff worked well together getting the folks on the dance floor. They accommodated our ridiculous song requests, catered to our crowd, lived up to their end of the contract and were total professionals.
