I've been taking my dog Gallo here since he was 1. He is now 3 and absolutely loves Patio Gate Pet Resort. I know this because when we get there he gets really excited because he knows he is about to have play time with a bunch of friends. I just read the 1 star reviews on this place and all of them made me laugh. These people are mad at life and take it out on a small business owner for the dumbest shit. I don't do many reviews, but I felt it was necessary since Gallo is always treated with love here. P.S. I was so excited to find a place to board my eight-year-old lab that would allow her to spend time running around outside instead of in a kennel all day. When I went to pick her up this morning at 7:15 (they open at seven) there were four cars ahead of me waiting to get in the gate. The gate was not opened until almost 8 o'clock. When I got her, they had not fed her and she had not been out to pee this morning and it was almost 8 o'clock. When they put her bed in the car it was sopping wet with urine. She hasn't had an accident in over seven years. She never, even as a puppy, peed in her bed. It was obvious that this bed had been wet for several days. The bed is waterproof and yet it managed to seep through to the foam. It was disgusting! They asked that their food be put in a baggie, one for the morning and one in the afternoon. I did that. And when they sent the bags home there were too many baggies left...as if they hadn't fed her all her meals. I would not recommend this place. Looks good on the surface, but do not leave your beloved pet with these people. all they do is sit around in their own piss all day long. read more

Sophie and her staff were negligent, leaving our dog to sleep in a pee soaked bed for multiple nights, was not aware of injuries that caused multiple blood stains on his bedding, and was unprofessional and insulting when confronted about it. Our first boarding experience was when our dog was a puppy, only about 7 months old, and it was okay. The dogs are left alone from 6 pm at night until the next morning at 8 am. For a puppy this was too long and in the middle of summer he was drinking lots of water so he peed his bed. Our next boarding experience was this past weekend for 4 nights when our dog was 1 year old. We specifically asked for water to be taken up and check his cubby each morning since he had previously had accidents at PatioGate (he hadn't had any accidents at home or elsewhere since he was 4 months). We also provided two beds to use in case he did wet one; we assumed they would wash it and switch it out for a dry bed. When we picked him up I asked Sophie if he had peed in his cubby. She brought us both beds from his cubby and touched and smelled them telling us he did not pee but had "spilled his water bowl during lunch". During the car ride home we could smell a stale smell but it wasn't until went to wash them that we realized both beds had been soaked in pee. The foam pillow insert was completely discolored on both beds, with one being dried and discolored while the other was still soaked. These beds have covers that are waterproof on the top and sides with a mesh lining on the bottom. The pillows were completely soaked through, clearly indicating that they had sat in and soaked up pee for multiple days and that our dog had to sleep on pee-soaked beds for multiple nights. One of the inserts also had multiple bloodstains, which is particularly concerning that our dog had bled enough to soak through the waterproof liner. Sophie specifically told us that he hadn't had any injuries or scratches. Our dog has short white fur, so any cuts would have been obvious and leads us to believe that she did not pay close attention to our dog during his stay. I called Sophie to talk about this and ask what happened. During the call she repeatedly told me that "dogs pee on their beds all the time." She reassured me that her dogs sometimes pee on their beds and lay in it. While this may be acceptable to her, it is absolutely unacceptable to me. She was entirely unprofessional and belittling, asking if this was our first dog (it's not) and saying this is normal dog behavior. Even if it were normal for dogs to pee on their beds, I would have expected Sophie to be aware enough to notice and replace the bed. She kept insisting his cubby was dry and the fact that we "accepted the beds and happily walked away" when we picked our dog up was proof the beds hadn't been peed on. The attached pictures of the insert (removed from the waterproof lining) show the amount of pee and blood that had soaked through the lining and dried, and we had wrongfully assumed that she was trustworthy enough that we did not need to inspect them prior to leaving. Sophie refused to refund our stay or pay for even one of the beds (both are damaged beyond repair since the pillow can't be washed). She wanted to "try to work something out" if we agreed not to leave a negative review, but we have no interest in bringing our dog to PatioGate again so we refused any agreement other than a refund or replacement of our bedding. After being sent the pictures of the pillow inserts, she accused us of lying and sending pictures of beds that had been soiled prior to our stay. Our dog has not had an accident since he was 4 months, and if he did we would never leave it in our home long enough to soak in and dry. She threatened to talk to her "tight knit community of dog boarding/daycare places about us" and have us blacklisted from other boarding places. Her attempts at bullying and intimidation are as equally abhorrent as her lack of care for the dogs placed in her care. read more

Needed last minute boarding. Great place! Fantastic staff! I felt like they loved my dog as much as I do! Bella got lots of exercise and socialization with other dogs. In fact, all the dogs there appear happy. You can actually see and hear them playing & barking when you drive by. When I picked up Bella, I could tell she was comfortable there. Explained everything and very very clean! It's clear she cares for all the dogs. Our pups left happy and exhausted! Will use again! 6/21/2020 Dropped off the pups first thing Friday 6/12. Drop off was smooth given the Covid restrictions. As always, our pups had an amazing time! They were soo happily worn out. I was running late to pick them up so I called about 4 hours before closing (was driving cross four states) and the owner made sure I could pick up my dogs 15-20 minutes after closing. I take my puppy here every time I need to go out of town. They are very accommodating when it comes to last minute booking. Max is always excited to come here and is ready to jump out the door as we are parking. The doggys play all day. I can tell he's had the time of his life when he comes home exhausted. I have 6 dogs. Most are rescues and have gotten along with no incident. Unfortunately 2 of my dogs have had issues with each other recently so I decided to board one of them during Christmas. I've never boarded my dogs before and was reluctant to do so. When I took my Zoey to Patio Gate, I was greeted by the owner. We discussed Zoey's needs, her disposition, how and if we would introduce her to other dogs during her stay. All my questions were answered. After leaving her, I was able to see videos of her while she was there and texted to get real time updates. My first time at PatioGate Pet Resort was due to a last minute trip I was up taking. I had two dogs to board at the last minute and Sophie accommodated with no problem (even though she was going out of town, her first vacation in two years that should tell you how dedicated she is to her business) Her and her staff took amazing care of my two baby dogs. When I brought them back for an overnight and doggy daycare there was genuine excitement as opposed to separation anxiety when dropping off. Her and her staff were amazing to my dogs and put me at ease right away. I had driven by many times not sure what it was from the outside but it sure looked like fun. PatioGate is amazing!!! Every time I bring Shadow home from PatioGate he is laid out somewhere. I like how I can take my dog to a pet resort and not kill my pockets for extra play time. I have a German Shepard Husky mix. He is FULLLL of energy and wants to play all the time. At PatioGate he gets to play majority of the day for just ONE fee. Which I LOVE! This is without question the best doggie day care our dog has ever had the pleasure of partying in! The owner is hands-on, all day every day. They truly care for your dog as if it were their own. Sophia was really quick to respond to my email inquiry and answered all our questions and we made the reservation. The day of check-in Sophia was amazing with both dogs and really took the time to make my husband and I feel super comfortable with the facility, staff and social interaction with the other pets. Patiogate has a great facility (HUGE yards!) and awesome staff. Our dog, Chloe, has some anxiety when meeting new people and dogs, and Patiogate was more than accommodating when we first went. They make sure Chloe is with dogs she gets along with, and more importantly, Chloe has so much fun at Patiogate! Sophia and her team do a great job getting to know the dogs and making sure they are well taken care of. The instagram videos they post are also a plus! Their rates are reasonable, especially for the level of attention and care they give to all the doggies. They also don't nickel and dime you like some other places around Houston. For example, special feeding and daycare for boarders does not cost extra. We are very grateful to have found such a wonderful place that our picky dog likes! read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. The owner at this facility is COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. No, I didn't read every single little word on the website because I assumed I'd be told everything I should know when I met them in person. I assumed that part of their job was to educate families on everything we should know about their facility. Every other pet place I toured gave me all the info upfront and didn't expect me to sit there and read the entire website beforehand. I chose them because it didn't seem like they had hidden fees and things such as giving medication to the dogs wasn't extra charge. (Which it is at some places). However I was blamed and yelled at for not "doing my research". And that I was supposed to ask the questions and she was just there to give the answers. What kind of business is that? I dropped my and my mom's dog off and my mom was planning on picking them up on a later day. The facility only had certain pick up times and she over slept and wanted to still pick them up. It was then that she found out that nobody was at the facility watching the dogs (which of course we didn't know because we didn't ask the questions or do our own research before the temperament test, so it's obviously our fault). My mom was extremely upset that we were not told this at the tour on our first meeting and was so upset that she didn't want our dogs in their care anymore. The owner then got extremely defensive and rude. I'm sure she was upset and it's okay to be upset but it's not okay to become an indecent human being to CUSTOMERS especially when running a business. She then kept texting my mom incessantly even after my mom stopped responding. I then called wanting to know why I felt that information was withheld. She then asked me "what is your question" and then proceeded to yell at me. When I asked if she was going to let me even ask my question she said no and kept yelling at me about how I should've done my research about her facility. Strangely nothing about how it was her job to tell me or reinforce the information on the website. Of course I get upset and started talking AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. She called me back and when I asked why she hung up on me she said because she's very upset and wanted to clear the air and then began to yell at me again. No apology or understanding, just blaming on our side and how she was being rude because we were rude first. Which is a great business model. I have these conversations on video recording. I then hung up on her because I personally think it's wrong for an not only a business but for an OWNER to yell at a consumer. There was no professionalism. The phrase "let's try again after you apologize was used" which is completely unacceptable. "The costumer is always right" attitude is not even a thought at this facility. It literally felt like I was fighting with a child. I am disappointed and even if I didn't "do all my research" I really don't think it's my fault and should be blamed and yelled at for not knowing every single little thing about a place before my first visit. It should be the owners job to inform me. read more

Finding somewhere you trust to board your baby is not an easy thing to do, and I'm thankful that we've found PatioGate. We can always count on PatioGate watching Kai, even on last-minute notice. Kai is large and energetic, so he can be a handful, but they love him non the less. NEVER will I bring my dogs to this facility ever and I will tell everyone with a pet family to stay clear away from this place. The owner is onerous and states that she is "number one in Houston" which is hard for me to believe since she did not care for or watch my pet family 24/7. BEWARE, she only works business hours, otherwise your dogs are in this little cubby until it business hours. For example, Sunday's there is someone on premise 8-9am and 4-5pm, otherwise expect them indoors that stink of other dogs poop and pee. The owner was screaming terrible statements to me that she's not a slave but she'll have to leave church so that I can put up my dogs 40min after business hours which was 9:40am Sunday morning. When I saw her she was dressed in a bathrobe. Didn't seem like she was coming from church. Also BEWARE, all she cares is about money. She refunded me by showing me a stack of bills and says that she's the best and takes care of the mayors family, assuming that would somehow impress me. Also, she pointed her passive aggressive finger at me and told me to take my dogs to Dogs Utopia because they keep their dogs caged all day long without going outside and that's where my dogs belong. If she really cared about my dogs, how could she say such a mean statement as such. She may even resorting to defamation to Dog Utopia. I don't care if she hates me, but don't hate my dogs. And honestly, telling her that I feel unsettled that my dogs are not with someone 24/7 is not unreasonable when boarding. She told me to come back at 4pm during business hours), again it's about money but I stood my ground and said I will be coming to pick my dogs up no matter the time because I did not trust a facility that didn't have supervision. The owner went back and forth about me not coming back to trying again if I apologized. She kept texting and texting me to the point I could not and rather not respond to such childish behavior. I tried her place because it was closer to my house than my usual boarding but I would rather drive far far away and make sure my babies are taken care of. By the way, my dog who never has any stomach issues came back with diarrhea for the next 2 days after coming from their facility. I will further reach out to Dog Utopia if Sophia has a history of defamation of other quality faculties unlike hers. They should be closed down. My poor babies. I completely regret walking into the land of BUSINESS HOURS ONLY at Patiogate. Oh I forgot to post the text stating that you are number 1, (Monica M., owner).
