The X-ray technician Joann Poole was extremely rude and condescending. My 2 year old was in there for an X-ray on his foot from a car accident and instead of being patient with him she criticized me on my parenting the entire time telling me maybe he likes his grandmother better. Never have I ever had such terrible bed side manner, she should really be advised on not telling people how to parent their own kids and more focused on doing her job. They week prior we came for an X-ray and everything went smooth of course she wasn't the X-ray technician at that visit. read more

I want to patient first yesterday becuse I thought I had a UTI. I did so they give me antibiotics I told them I was allergic the amoxicillin and penicillin they gave me an Antibiotic either that ingredient I didn't know. So I took it when I got in the car drove 10 minutes to my house and 5 minutes later my ears, tongue, and throat where all itchy and my througat stared to close up and I stoped breathing my mom called an ambulance and the took me to the hospital and I got prescribed a new antibiotic. I'm posting this review for self awareness to other people that go here. This experience was even better than the last, primarily because of the fewer patients waiting for treatment (probably because I got there at 8:30 when they close at 10. Signing in was painless--other than my very sore throat--and registration took very little time. The lady I worked with asked whether I wanted to get my antibiotics from them or my regular pharmacy; originally I said pharmacy, because I thought I'd be out of there in time to get that done. In the end I got them from Patient First, at a very low cost, and am already feeling better 24 hours later. The wait time was less, in all aspects, and that was great. The staff is friendly and accommodating and sympathetic. It's not all about churning through the patients, though they do want to help as quickly as possible. read more

Came here while dealing with back pain for 3 days and it got worse. I checked in at 8:21 pm. Stayed for 2 hours just for them to send me home without any help. I expressed the pain was more intense because of me either sitting in a chair or on the bed. About 9:00 pm an associate came out and announced that there was a 3-4 hour wait. I believe that was a tactic for them to use so the could leave on time. After their announcement, half of the patients left, I stayed. Once I was called back I rotated between standing and sitting for an hour. So the the NP Chaantel finally comes, she offers to give me a shot in my butt, I decline and ask for other treatment. She went to go talk to someone and came back to tell me she would give me pills for spasms and inflammation. Not even 2 minutes later she tells me I have to pay out of pocket or send it to the pharmacy. After 10 pm there IS NO PHARMACY AVAILABLE! So I wasted my time in this facility to receive basically NOTHING. I normally go to the facility in Clinton, I will never go to this location again. read more

Went there in July, after an auto accident. They refused to take the claim number and billing info for State Farm, and I had to pay with a credit card. State Farm reimbursed Patient First, and they refused to credit my credit card account. They got paid twice. I had State Farm call their Richmond headquarters many times, as did I. They made and broke promise after promise. I had to put the charge in dispute with the credit card company, since there was a time limit. Finally on Oct 24, I saw where I had gotten my money back. Be very careful when you pay them. They are not Patient First when it comes to money. Oh, and the medical care? An xray, and prescription for naproxen, $317.00. Go to the hospital in La Plata. If I could give this zero stars I would. This Waldorf office is a horrible scamming money pit that does not give a crap about your care. I came to this facility because I was very sick and could not see my own primary care physician. I had two insurances my primary and my secondary other under my husband. I indicated and showed them the two insurances. I told them what my problem was and that I was unable to see my own primary care physician. The wait was over two hours in the lobby and another hour in the room with the curtain. The nurse bedside manner was horrible rude and ghetto. The doctor seemed uncertain and was very rushy rushy even though I waited two hours to be seen. Upon leaving the office, I paid my co-pay and was on my way. About 2 to 3 weeks later I received a huge bill in the mail for about $200 which I was very confused about. I called my insurance companies and they told me that they coded the visit as a primary care office visit. I told them this was incorrect and I had my own primary care physician. I went to them for urgent care visit only. I was told to call and speak with the office manager. The office manager was very rude unprofessional and had the worst manners ever. I explain to her what happened with my insurance company. She argued with me for over 30 minutes on the phone and still told me no this was a primary care visit. I provided them with my name of my doctor and where they were located. She said I don't care it was billed as primary and it will stay that way. So I wrote a letter to their corporate office only to be told the same thing no it was a primary care visit only. I didn't know a primary office visit gives you x-rays and other urgent times the figure out what was wrong with me. This place does not care about your health and your well-being. All they care about is money. So now, I have this on my credit report and it will remain on my credit report because this fraudulent business will not get one dollar from me. This happened in 2011. Maybe one day it will fall off. I know go to MedStar PromptCare at Waldorf. They are caring professional fast and accurate. They bill your insurance company correctly and don't trump fraudulent charges just to get extra money. read more

If you go to this location stay clear of the nurse Dee Stockman. She is extremely rude, lacks empathy, and should not be in the healthcare field. I went in for a eye infection and the doctor did ask me if I needed a doctors note but I told her no because I didn't think I did. Well I did need one so I call back to get one and the lady explains to me she can only write it for a few days due to their policy. Ok I got it but what I explained to her was, I work I'm good service and my manager said that I couldn't come back until the day after the note was good for and I couldn't come back at all without a doctors note. I also explained to her that I'm a single mom and I take care of my small child by myself so I needed the note emailed and I couldn't come in person because I don't have anyone to help care for my child. She just repeated herself so I asked her if she had any suggestions that would be helpful to me and her response was "no I don't know what to tell you" I reiterated that I was a single mom (mind you I'm sick AND CONTAGIOUS) and her response was "ok and? What does that have to do with anything". I was in complete disgust, and shock. I have never been belittled by a healthcare "professional" in my life so this really took me off guard. Stand clear of this facility but if you must go stand clear of this unprofessional, judgmental, cranky nurse. read more

This place is absolute trash. I came in with trouble BREATHING which you think would be a priority for the staff, but no. I've literally been waiting FOUR HOURS to see a doctor which absolutely unheard of. I'm not sure if they're understaffed or what the issue is but they need to do a better job of communicating just how long the wait I is. I went into Patient First with a sore throat (the worst it has ever felt) and left with the same ailment and some extra disappointment. The nurse (who was really nice, actually. She saved this review from getting 1 star) did all the preliminary stuff and asked if I had strep throat. I said no, because I've had strep before and this felt completely different. They took a swab and the result came back as negative for strep. Then Dr. Faranak Moghadam came in and gave me the laziest, most rushed diagnosis I've ever had. She looked at my throat, said it didn't look like strep (as the swab test and my personal experience both attested to), but decided that we should treat it like strep. So now I'm out of 40 bucks and I'm stuck with some mouthwash that definitely doesn't work and some antibiotics I probably don't need. My entire time with her just felt so rushed. I know that urgent care gets crowded, but jeez, at least kinda try to do your job. My health is involved here. In closing, if you ever come here and Dr. Faranak Moghadam is treating you, just turn right around. She is probably more concerned with her lunch break than your well-being. read more

Patient First is a hit or miss. I've been going to them since they first open in Waldorf. 50% of the time, the doctors is pretty good but when it's bad, it's bad. The wait time is extremly long after your vitals are taken. It may be only one patient waiting in the lobby but most of the time the wait is well over an hour. It's usually cold and uncomfortable. Like many health care facilities, some doctors have wonderful bedside manner and some could care less. What was the final straw, I had some abnormalities in my blood testing and a nurse called to give me the results. She was extremely rude and cold. It was almost like I was annoying her when I ask "what's the next step?" The front desk staff and the nurses who take your vitals have always been great. I'm a loyal patient but the last uncaring provider and the rude nurse who called be to give me my test results pushed me out the door. I've found another urgent care center in Waldorf that is absolutely wonderful. I no longer sit behind a curtain, the rooms are a normal temperature, and the staff is kind from beginning to end. read more

I have only had a couple visits to Patient First in Waldorf but both have been good. I was there last night after my left ring finger swelled up and I was unable to remove my ring. Dr. Melinda Sutton and her assistants did an excellent job making me at ease while they cut, stretched and removed the ring from my finger. They also removed the ring in a way that allowed me to save it and have it repaired. I have nothing but positive feedback for not only Dr. Sutton, but for the entire staff that took care of me. read more

Was extremely dissatisfied with my visit to this clinic. Pros: - Shiny touch screen to help with the registration process - the water fountain for children and adults worked seemingly well. Cons: - after spending 10 minutes answering insurance and identification information questions, the receptionist failed to ask the most important question: why are you here? We volunteered that information but that was not passed on to a nurse/doctor before the receptionist in question snuck out the back and went home. - after waiting in the waiting room for nearly 1 1/2 hours, we asked what was the hold up. The new receptionist looked in his computer and didn't realize we were waiting. When I told him why we there, he called a nurse who then explained that the service (Note: the service in question is a physical exam for a child under 5 yrs old - fairly standard stuff; not complicated) we needed was not offered at their facility! - Was referred to a different clinic which took walk-ins and was assured that that clinic did take care of the care we needed. When we went to the place recommended, they looked confused and said they have never provided that service. read more

My fiancé has a horrifying ear infection and I brought him here thinking it would be worth it... wrong! 3 hours of waiting and the doctor gives him a shot and medicine that has not helped his pain. We left the doctor 8 hours ago, he has taken the medicine as instructed and now he can't sleep and is complaining that the pain is the same as when he arrived at Patients first. Have gone here many times thanks to the kids and their wild boy maneuvers. Their pretty quick compared to the emergency room. Always seen within an hour or less. They have most of the equipment and can do testing on site. They even fill most of the prescriptions you need onsite. I like the option to make them your primary care doctor because ours is always backed up and they send you to a specialist anyway. Depending on your medical plan your co-pay could be as low as your primary care doctor. read more

Monday I took him to his pediatrician and it turns out the dose was so low it was ineffective. I have had to go to Patient First three times in the past two months because of out of control migraines that haven't responded to meds. The first time I went to the Richmond Highway location, was given meds, and treated great. The second time was here a week later when I got a concussion and then a migraine after seeing a less than competent neurologist. I got another script in house for meds (the same as the prior week which helped but not enough to keep it at bay for long). Since then I have seen a new neurologist once but I still have to worry about what the insurance allows me to get which is not enough. Also, I'm having them more frequently so I'm doing a diary of what causes them when/why/what's happening weather-wise/what I've eaten/BP so the new neurologist (who is superb) can figure out what the best course of treatment is and how we can proceed. It's been about two months since I was here last and I'd only gotten 20 pills - the instructions are to take 1 pill every 4 hours as needed. So, you can basically go through a script in three and a half days. I was out of the meds from last time, in between doc appts (see regular doc next Wednesday and neuro in two weeks for my follow up) and woke up this morning with a raging migraine. Went to work, spent my day vomiting/taking 1st and 2nd line meds to no avail. Come home, take 3rd line sedating meds which don't work. Vomit profusely for an hour and beg husband to take me to Patient First in Waldorf since they've helped me before over the years and I don't want to go to the ER because thanks to the opioid panic and backlash, any pain you express makes you look like you're drug seeking....plus it's $100 copay when I can pay $35 at Patient First and get meds at the same time. The last two visits were paid in full with my insurance, so I figured I'd have a $70 balance on my account (copay x 2). I tell the check in girl that and she says that only Patient Accounts can see my balance so I would either have to pay my copay or not be seen. Patient First's billing department is HORRIBLE. Do not expect to get money back quickly or billing issues with insurance resolved promptly. I'm still fighting for them to correctly bill an October 2015 visit. I get taken to the back, get vitals/bloodwork (unnecessary but they need to get paid somehow) and lay down on the bed in the dark with my hands in my ears because sights and sounds are making things worse. I wait for about an hour and the PA comes in. From the minute he came in I could tell he had a chip on his shoulder. I explained the situation, how I was feeling, how I'd failed everything else, and how I'd been helped before so I was hoping he could do the same. I also told him how I was working with my neuro and told him about the diary, plus how I was doing good challenges to rule out other triggers. He basically said there was nothing he could do to help me and I had to go to the ER because the stuff he had there was stuff I was allergic to. I mentioned the last two visits and how I'd gotten relief from those meds. When he went out to look them up, he came back with the meds, shoved the basket in my face, and very nastily said "You need to talk to your neurologist about getting you better meds and getting this stuff under control because you've been here three times in three months and we can't keep giving you meds." No one deserves to be talked to in that manner. Ever. It was completely unprofessional. If he doubted my story, I would've been happy to give him my neurologist's phone number and he could've called the answering service to verify my story and to get suggestions on what he could provide for me in the meantime. My neuro said that he'd be happy to come in early on a Saturday morning to see me if I had a problem - this guy could've notified him of that so that I could go there. But no - he wanted to be a jackass. Eric F. Severson, PA-C - this is a person to avoid. I will be writing the clinic director and filing a complaint. I will also be transferring my care to Righttime Medical once it opens up. They allow you to make appointments online for urgent care and they're open late. Plus, zero billing issues. read more

Optimistically I assumed that my experience would be the same but no, I'm sadly mistaken. I arrived at 10am, was checked in by 10:10, and have been sitting in the waiting room after the waiting room, waiting to see the doctor for the past 50minutes. No attendant has checked on me, no one has given a status update...for an empty location, what the heck is the hold up?! Taking this as a sign & will continue to visit the Laurel location. The experience I had there was terrible. They are the only place I've been to that wanted a $40 copay. There was also a lot of back and forth with getting information from me and having me sit in the waiting room. I also ended up sitting in the room I was put in for 45 minutes before a doctor came to talk to me. The doctor who did talk to me was not a good doctor at all. He simply came in, listened to my lungs, and then started just listing off different medications that I needed to take. I would have been better off just going to an ER with how long of a visit I had (2.5hrs), & it would have been much cheaper. read more

I visited Patient First in Waldorf, MD this morning and was denied evaluation and treatment because I have a balance from a previous visit. I explained to the young lady who checked me in that the visit was related to a car accident I had while working, which makes it a worker's compensation claim. My paperwork is on file, which she acknowledged. I have placed calls to the billing department to discuss the matter. The young lady seemed unsure as to how to proceed, so she called a colleague in for assistance. In a seemingly abrupt manner, the colleague stated, "She has two options, pay the balance or she can't be seen." She spoke of me as if I wasn't present. No compassion whatsoever. I have visited this location before and have never been treated in this manner. Thank goodness that I had other urgent care options available. I am surprised by all of the negative reviews. The facility is spotless and the staff is always warm and welcoming. I have been seen multiple times for various illnesses/injuries and every time I have had a great experience. The in house pharmacy is one of my favorite things about Patient First. Of course there is a wait, but I don't understand why people would think any differently; come prepared and the time passes quickly. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. First, I am a nurse practitioner so I KNOW standards of care. I urge you to go to another facility if you can. Yes, the wait is long and the staff is rude but moreover, the infection control process is AWFUL. I chose this location to have a simple pre-employment shot and it took 3 hours because their system went down and several patients were forgotten. This is unacceptable but, what is more appalling are the INFECTION CONTROL PROCESSES. NOT ONE person who entered my room sanitized or washed their hands. Please understand, that hand washing/ sanitizing is NOT optional, it is a MUST. Healthcare providers should wash their hands in front of you, the patient, so you know they are clean. In medicine we say, if it is NOT documented, it is NOT done! So if you do NOT physically see me wash my hands, they were NOT washed. In my facility, the hand washing rule is "EVERY PATIENT, EVERY TIME"!!! When a nurse came into my room to administer the injection she did not sanitize her hands in front of me. When I asked her to clean her hands, she became upset and told me that is what gloves are for. This is WRONG! Gloves are only one part of infection control. Also, if dirty hands touch clean gloves the gloves are now DIRTY! Anytime a healthcare provider enters and leaves your room they HAVE to wash their hands. When I see a patient, I will wash my hands by sanitizing them or with soap and water every time- in front of my patient. This is NOT A LUXURY it is part of INFECTION CONTROL! In addition to this, the physician assistant was completely rude and out of line when speaking to me. She was extremely condescending and asked me demeaning questions regarding my intelligence as a healthcare provider. I WILL be reporting these individuals. I am writing this review because it makes upset that these people are abusing their authority as healthcare providers. As a patient, you have RIGHTS and you do NOT have to deal with staff that are rude, disrespectful, and dirty! I went to my regular "urgent care" clinic (Prompt Care) with a hurt heel. I was asked if I had made an appointment online... How many people do that? Got an appointment for 1:47 (1 1/2 hours later)... Then they couldn't x-ray it due to machine broken, or employee inexperience. Long story short, absolutely dissatisfied. The following day, I went to Patient first, and they took me to be seen as soon as I finished the paperwork. I was x-rayed, seen by doctor, received my prescription within an hour! Went in for an ear infection. Doctor said "swimmer's ear," and gave me two prescriptions for ear drops. If the cheap one didn't work get the second one. So after spending $129 on the appointment, and $200 in prescription ear drops, I have no relief and go back again, only to left in the exam room for an hour. No doctor ever came in to see me. I finally left and went elsewhere. As it turned out I had a punctured ear drum and an inner ear infection, a condition that will not be cured with drops. This doctor told me that the discharge from my ear is a clear indication of a puncture with an inner ear infection and that the "swimmer's ear" diagnosis was most unfortunate because I could have had relief from the intense pain a good three weeks earlier. Sadly, it's my own fault for going there in the first place. Won't make that mistake again. read more

The nurse, doctor, lab techs, registration staff are knowledgeable and efficient. If I have to visit a medical facility in an emergency, this is my choice. read more
