Since being acquired by Trusted Doctors, their office staff has been nothing short of a nightmare…read more After being patients for close to 10 years, they put all of our children to "inactive" status when there was a problem on their end with billing and insurance, even after we had done our due diligence to fix the problem. They provided no further communication that there was an ongoing issue, and we were surprised to find we were unable to make an appointment for our sick child when she needed to be seen. The providers are wonderful. The front office and billing staff is the worst I've ever experienced. I would not choose them to provide care based on the wall of problems we've run into since their acquisition. Sad, since they used to be wonderful.

Our neighbor recommended Piedmont Peds. This practice is good for availability, but the more we…read morevisited, the more we needed to visit. After visiting my child and I in the hospital, the physicians performed experiments on my newborn and I in its office following her first vaccination in ways that are not standard in new infant care in other states, without cause or communication, and it was quick to order tests without logic on my children to charge our excellent insurance plan, scaring my child and slowing our progress as a family to its advantage. The nurses are good, administrators are pretty good, but the NP's and physicians do not like self-assured, educated mothers who know their rights and sought to undermine as a distraction from surgical malpractice the first year in the region. Contributing to defamation, this practice caused social discrimination through social engineering and science in places like libraries on other mothers with children, and in my career in the community. It took every opportunity to triangulate between my daughters and I. It tried to generate an economy inviting our social connections to town, but also tried to make value judgements on our educations, experience and professions forged in other states, while encouraging a culture in medical society of ethnographic research using our family, as has historically been Virginia's and UVA's medical orthography, including historic precedents of eugenics. The outcome was trauma and hardship and otherwise we are very close. If you have a specific need for a child, this is not the practice for you. If you are the mother of an infant, I would not recommend this practice. If you only need vaccinations and well-checks for teens in sports, and you are Christian and have a positive church affiliation, this practice is ok.

I finally contacted an ENT, they removed their tonsils, and no more problems. THEN, 6 years ago when my grandson was born, Pediatrics, a woman doctor, diagnosed him with hypospadias, meaning he would have to wait at least another year to have the correction surgery and his circumcision done, meaning it would be MUCH MORE PAINFUL. The surgeon told us after performing his circumcision, that HE DID NOT HAVE HYPOSPADIAS! The surgical site was much worse looking than one done at birth. PLEASE GET SECOND OPINIONS!

Both of those went great, the staff was so friendly, I loved Dr. Malek and was so glad I made the change. Fast forward about 2 months when I had to take her for a sick visit, we waited in the exam room for over an hour before the Dr came in, the Dr was all over the place and her bedside manner as far as children was awful, another hour later she tells me nothings wrong, just a virus. She had just started daycare so thwre as s jr her sick visit a week and a half later which was no better, it took almost an hour to even get someone on the phone, still waited over an hour. When she needed another one 2 weeks later, 30 minutes waiting and 3 hours for an appointment. I took her the Sentara walk in clinic and we were in and out in less time than it took me to talk someone at Pediatrics. She was seen again today, 2 1/2 weeks later, for her 3rd ear infection after being seen in the ER, was told her ear "wasn't perfect". I love Dr. Malek and have only had great experiences with the wellness visits with her, all the others have been a nightmare. I was considering finding somewhere else after the 1st sick visit and didn't, I really wish I had because I'm kicking myself in the ass for ever taking her there. Like I said, all I ever heard was wonderful things but I cannot see why.
