Arrived when promised. very professional and worked quickly. We are on a small dead end road, these guys were mindful of my neighbors needing to get in and out of their driveways. Five large trees removed out of back yard up and over house. Neither mine or my neighbors yards showed any sign of work being done after they finished. Wish I paid more attention to Max B.'s review. I called this guy to remove a few pine trees from my aunt's yard a few months back. He came out, gave an estimate, agreed on a price and date to cut the trees down, I took a day off from work so I could be there, and then... never shows up. No call, no email, no nothing. He calls back a week later and says "Oh, sorry about that." I laughed and hung up. Good luck with that quality of service, bud. I ended up going with Walnut Tree Services instead. They were a bit more expensive but super professional and showed up exactly when they said they would and did a great job. read more

I had a tree fall in my backyard in Boston this week and called Lucas and his team, after being recommended from a neighbor who had them take care of their tree. This was a very busy time in Mass as many trees have fallen due to recent hurricane level winds. Lucas was very responsive and showed up personally to assess the situation before giving a quote, which other companies we called were too busy to do. Lucas gave us sound advice of removing our remaining trees that were diseased and was reasonable with the cost of taking them down. He then led a team who provided a crane service to ensure the trees were safely removed, avoiding power and cable lines surrounding my backyard. This was a full service solution that he navigated with grace while dealing with complaining neighbors, and coordinating a police detail to ensure everyone was safe in the process. If you want to get unprofessional service from unethical and shady owner who will lie to you at every step, try to cut corners, be late to the job and perform the job incompletely only to go as far as sue you and lie about putting a lien on your property because he received an incomplete payment for the incomplete job then you found the ideal candidate for that. - The owner sent his crew with inadequate equipment the first time so they had to reschedule - The second time nobody showed up without any prior notice - Then once they actually came they a. were 4 hours late (which resulted in not having enough time to do the job the way it was supposed to) b. they may have damaged my septic by setting up a crane on top of it, even though I provided them with a map (they could not even read the map properly). Damage to the tank is hard to detect and I don't know whether they actually damaged it or not Finally, to top it all off, they prepared to take down the wrong tree. When I saw it I came out and told them it is the wrong tree - they took it down anyway and left the one I needed to be removed (SERIOUSLY?!? I was shocked). When the owner that was made aware that his crew took down the wrong tree called me later, instead of trying to resolve this somehow he started by telling me that he removed the trees I told him to (right, like I don't know which ones I needed to be removed) and then moved to yelling at me, threatening to put a lien on my property if I don't give him the check TONIGHT when he comes to collect the wood (yes they left some wood on the property and he threatened to leave it there unless I pay in full but then he picked it up after a few days) Then, later on, he tried to intimidate me by actually claiming he put a lien on my property. More lies and more bullying - that's how he prefers to operate apparently. And now I have to go and endure more stress defending his empty claim in court. Even in the court filing, he managed if not outright lie then at least intentionally misrepresent the truth. What a tool. Stay away, unless you want to enter a world of pain and waste your time on ridicule. UPDATE: 03/27 - Lucas lost (no surprise here) in court and now owes me $814 in damages UPDATE: 05/11 - Lucas hasn't paid the judgment. Today was the payment review in court and now he is subject to arrest To summarize - if you want a contractor that will cause you all that trouble, sue you, loose, owe you money and you'd have to arrange police officers to arrest him - Luke's is the perfect candidate for that. read more

Had Pathfinder out to remove several trees and stumps in our yard. They removed the trees and spread the wood chips across the ground in large heaps. Much to our surprise, when we removed the wood chips, we discovered they did not remove several stumps that we had paid for them to remove. As the stumps were hidden under the wood chips they spread out, we did not notice this until well after they left and we had paid in full. We also noted they left several large roots from the larger stump they did remove, which again was something we had paid for. We have now called Lucas and this business countless times in the past few weeks. They will not return any of our calls and refuse to speak with us. We have since had to hire another company to remove the stumps and roots that we already had paid Pathfinder for. We unfortunately are now having to pursue legal options and will be filing suit for breach of contract. We wish we had seen the prior reviews about similar things happening as this seems like a pattern rather than an exception. read more

We had a very complex scenario where our neighbor's huge oak tree split in half after a few days of heavy autumn rain (suburbs of Boston). Our neighbor's tree trunk closest to our property line fell sideways within inches of crushing our shed because it eventually came to rest entangled in our own huge oak tree in the middle of our own backyard. We were terrified the fallen tree would break through and cause a tremendous amount of destruction to our property and to the property of our other neighbors as well. We contacted Pathfinder and they came right over and gave us an estimate. We agreed on a price and they returned a few days later (October 2020). On that one day, they removed the part of the tree that fell on our property AND the other half of the tree still teetering in our neighbor's yard. It was incredible to watch. They used cables, cranes and a fearless tree worker suspended in a cable harness as he used a chainsaw to cut each side of the tree into pieces - carefully trying to avoid either side of the split tree from collapsing into our shed, the shared fence, and our neighbor's home. Pathfinder was able to save our shed, the fence and my neighbor's home AND they came back the next day to clean up all the small wood chips and saw dust! Lucas and his team removed a massive Norway Maple from our backyard. It was a huge job. The tree was in our backyard, in the corner, and it hung over three other neighbors' yards/houses. I had five companies come out and give me estimates - and several said it would take between 2-5 days. Because of Pathfinder's enormous crane, Lucas was able to take it out in one day, and the job couldn't have gone smoother. I asked Lucas a ton of questions, and he was great at getting back to me and answering them. Very happy to have gone with Pathfinder and have this over and done with so quickly/smoothly. read more

STAY AWAY FROM PATHFINDER TREE SERVICE! Lucas, the President of Pathfinder, and its workers, will act very nice, take your money, and not finish the job. They are completely unreliable. I met with Lucas in the fall of 2019 to do work on 5 of our oak trees. I specifically pointed out one large dead branch hanging over the electrical wires. He agreed to take that down. He came over the winter when the leaves were off the trees. When I said that it looked like he missed the large branch, he said that it had buds. I could not be sure because everything looks different in the winter. He said that he would return in the spring to take it down if he was wrong. I payed him $2500 in December 2019. He came back in May 2020 and agreed again to take down the original dead branch. It was so obviously dead. It is now August 2020 and the dead branch is still there. Nobody returns my calls. Pathfinder came to cut down my neighbor's tree and needed access for their bucket truck and crane thru my side yard. Asked permission before hand and everything was cool. The men worked as a team and I was impressed with the speed and expertise of them. After they were done I went out and saw deep ruts in the grass. I asked the guy in charge about them and he said they ran out of the thick boards that are put down under the truck tires so they used some thin paneling ones. Maybe they shouldn't have proceeded? I said I was I was unhappy about the ruts. He said they would take care of it and started stamping down the raised parts of the ruts. I had to go in the house but when I returned, most of the ruts were still there and they had packed up and gone. I filled in some of the ruts with dirt I had on hand and seeded them. After the winter, the rest of the ruts are still there. Shame on me for not following thru and calling the company then. My advice is keep an eye on them. Make your own judgement about their professionalism. 5 stars for the tree work, 0 stars for the customer service = 2.5 stars read more

Pathfinder saved my house today. I woke up this morning to find an oak tree with a 7 foot long crack in it. The crack was large enough for me to put my thumb in and the tree was 15 feet from my house. Pathfinder agreed to come take a look at it after they finished the job that they were on. I called him back when the crack became large enough for me to put two thumbs in it and the tree was rocking back and forth in the wind. My urgency must've come across loud and clear on the phone because they left the job they were on came to my house and removed the tree in the nick of time. To describe how close this tree was to falling on my house, let me put it this way, he charged me $500 less than the price he quoted me in order to get him to leave the job and come to my house. Bad service. Waited nearly 9 weeks for them to cut down trees... after several follow up phone calls by myself I have given up... wasted two months trying to get them to come do a job I confirmed via email. To top it off the President of the company all but called me a liar saying I never followed up. Well the tree is at a 45 degree angle (or so) and ready to fall on my house. Pretty darn sure I've followed up several times to try and get this taken care of. read more

The two stars is that the tree was taken down and the crew was very nice back in August. However, after they chipped the trunk and roots down, they did not completely spread the chips over the area but left a mound preventing us from adding soil to plant grass seed. I called Lucas and eventually a very nice man came with a baby front loader ( a shovel would have done the job), and the mound of chips was taken away. BUT, each time he turned the front loader on our sidewalk, it left a dent and loose asphalt. The town had done all the sidewalks about a year or so ago. My husband was not very happy when he saw this and called Lucas. They played phone tag for a while but my husband finally reached Lucas who insisted they were surface scratches and the sidewalk was fine. Lucas had already sent someone to take pictures and even our neighbors have noticed the damage. The last phone conversation with my husband was that Lucas would send someone out to take care of it. We are still waiting. I am truly hoping Lucas keeps his word as I was the one who hired him while my husband was away on business. :-( read more

Amazing! Back in September we had an estimate done by another company. They said it would be 4-6 weeks before they got to us. At six weeks I called and they hadn't even scheduled us - now we're into November. I called Pathfinder and Lucas came out the next day to see the property and give us an estimate.
