They put a lot of crossfit equipment in what used to be the Fitness arena which good for the people coming from the new owners old gym, but bad for the casuals that liked getting away from the regular gym. Most of the equipment is outdated and unsafe and I have been out of there a little over 2 months and still have not updated most of it. They do good things for the kids however some of the coaches there have no buisness being around kids as one beat up a teenager (real role model google his name) and another... well..... Made national headlines. And working there? Sucked!! The personal trainer left over from the old ownership used to have our Co-workers text her and call her everytime this certain guy came in with friends.. The kicker?? She's married! Was like working in a junior high and she always tagged the girls name in the screen as very rude names. Also made fun of a lot of the members which is not cool for a personal trainer. This is all my opinion based on what I experienced working there.

I would guess that there were 6 or 7 bikes with 1 or 2 not working well or out of service. Since the recent equipment upgrade, there are only 2 basic upright bikes, and one has been out of service 2 times since installation. I am age 70, in recovery mode indefiniately, with nerve issues affecting my lower body (neuropothy), and hip trouble. Non-weight-bearing excercise is what I (and others) need. We simply want to remain mobile by hopping on the bike for 30 minutes or so and keep blood flowing to our lower extremities. Treadmill is not the answer and recumbent bikes are not comfortable for the hip. The Norwich location needs more upright bikes. Most staff that I have spoken to agree.

Inner Strength Gym is different. When you walk in the door and you see the walls, the mats and the bags you know that this gym is different. Whether you walk in on a Tuesday night after work or Sunday morning before your day starts you are at Inner Strength Gym because of what it does to you. MMA gyms all over have cool names but they are names that don't mean anything. They are names that are simply meant to pull you in the door and hopefully will look cool on a shirt. Inner strength is something everyone has and it is something people need help remembering they have sometimes. Inner Strength Gym does this, it makes you a stronger person. I'm sure any gym you go to and jump on the treadmill and pump some iron will give you some strength but it cannot give you what you get at a place like Inner Strength Gym. Those walls test you. The mats and bags test you. Your sparring partners tests you and you will have to test yourself. This is not for the weak of heart. What we do makes you push yourself harder and farther than people would do by themselves. You work to find your limits and then you work past them. Anyone who thinks they are too "fill in your story" I can tell you you're wrong. Inner Strength is home to middle school, high school and college students as wells as fighters and trainers from all over New England. There are 30, 40 and 50 year olds who walk through those doors every week and walk out happier people and better people than when they walked in. As a practitioner and trainer for MMA fighters and a teacher of different styles of martial arts, Greg Swanson runs on of the best gyms in New England and has one of the best groups who train at his gym.
