Wham you get inside the rustic corner bakery and it is full a small selection of delicious, mouth watering treats! Breads, pies, sausage rolls, tarts, cakes, muffins and cookies. Bam As I order three tarts, lemon curd tart, ginger crime brûlée tart and the orange and coconut meringue tart, all I want to do is eat them. As soon as I have the first mouthful, Bam! Unlike the one in Woolloomooloo where there is simply no parking. The layout inside is just like an American diner with booth seats. I always get the hot dog with mustard and tomato sauce. I looooove the soft bun. My friend got the Same as me except she got the Harry's cafe de dogs. The whole chilli con carne, mushy peas, etc She loved it. People came and went so whilst we were there it was full at times and totally empty. Had a really nice feel to it. No staff disturbance. I loved it!!! Oh....did I mention, we got seconds? We were planning to share the meat pie. How could you not get the classic Harry's pie? However, my friend came back with a hot dog for me AND a pie. There was no way I was going halfies with her. Racks of the pastries were right behind the counter, including both sweet and savory options. The employee manning the front was so warm and seemed happy to help answer our questions about the day's offerings. She said the most popular item all year round is their almond croissant, filled with an almond frangipane, but her personal favorite at the time was the seasonal Hazelnut Praline Brioche. Given that this is something you don't see at any ordinary bakery, I couldn't resist and you could say she talked me into it! My second choice would have been their handheld apple pie with its perfect lattice and caramelized sugar on top. The HAZELNUT PRALINE BRIOCHE (A$12) was essentially a light airy donut filled with a smooth chocolate hazelnut cream that tasted like a Ferrero Rocher. The amount of filling was generous and oozed out with every bite... I could have eaten spoonfuls of the filling just by itself! A slightly crunchy praline crumb topping gave it a crisp cap. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of this brioche as it wasn't too rich nor too sweet. I also got a flat white coffee which was good, hot and paired nicely with my brioche. My mom got their seasonal lemon monkey bread which she said was just okay. It didn't have that cinnamon gooeyness that one would normally expect in this type of dessert. Similarly, they also offered a lemon vanilla custard tart which my sister enjoyed. Oddly, it was labeled only as a "vanilla tart" on the display, which is a little misleading, especially for anyone who's not a fan of citrus. This cafe has a nice open air seating area with ample space, a couple seats at the coffee counter and some seats outside. Most of the tables were already occupied by the time we arrived, so we sat outside. With the cafe being located in an alleyway, we were able to savor our pastries in the morning sun without any cars or traffic whizzing by. What a lovely way to begin our day in Manly!
