    Walking up to it
    Joni S.

Have been thinking about what to get as my first tattoo for quite awhile. After finding Jakki (the tattoo artist) on IG, I decided on the most personalized thing I can think of: Yoda's signature. And placed on my forearm at the very spot she would typically get my attention when she was alive. Jakki walked me through the idea concept process, what to expect, had a therapy session as she was creating her artwork, and provided me with aftercare. The inside of the shop was decorated a bit for Halloween. I didn't take too many photos because I was more excited about the tattoo than a review. Pictures were taken afterwards. Ended up parking out front instead of driving by so that I could take a selfie with Jakki. Another person was getting a much larger tattoo done (not going to lie, she was cute! Nice distraction as courage from any pain). Not necessary though because it just felt like how donating blood feels. Very pleasant atmosphere inside. Tranquil and welcoming. Would highly recommend!

Patch Tattoo Therapy is a lovely shop. Clean and minimalist aesthetic in the shop. I worked with Jasmine Hsueh on a tattoo dedicated to the memory of my parents. She created something beautiful that I will cherish forever. Would definitely recommend this shop for anyone looking for fine line work.

After years of questioning, wondering, researching, I finally decided to get my first tattoo. I was looking through Yelp, Instagram, Google to search for studios. Then I stumbled upon Patch Tattoo Therapy and inquired about their artists. I got connected to Rachel and she has been a God-send. She guided me through the entire process and answered all my questions. After we corresponded about the tattoo I want, scheduling, and other details, it was finally time to get the tattoo onto my body! The studio itself is minimal and clean. There were NO worries about safety/sanitation. When I showed up, Rachel had her station all ready and prepped. We talked a little bit more about placement, size, etc. Then she started to get to work! Throughout the entire process, she was thoughtful and reassuring - asking how I was holding up every now and then. My tattoo took a couple sessions but it turned out amazing. The amount of detail has me staring at it for hours. Rachel truly is an artist.

For years, I had been wanting this Beauty and the Beast tattoo. I knew it would take a special artist to bring it to fruition, so when I found out that Sarabeth had an availability while I was in town, I was elated. I liked that before the appointment, I was sent a link to prep. This is my third tattoo, but they've been a few years apart, so it was nice to have the reminder of what to do beforehand. I found street parking on Clark, behind the shop, and made my way over. Sarabeth greeted me and had me full out a release form before showing me some templates of the art. We decided on a nice size, did the placement of the tattoo, and away she went! The whole process was easy and wasn't as painful as I anticipated it would be. She took her time, and gave appropriate breaks. For my first color tattoo, it was a great experience!

Emiko was my artist and I had an awesome experience. She made me feel comfortable the whole time, super professional, and her work came out clean and exactly how I wanted. (they have snacks too)

This was my first tattoo, and Jasmine was very kind and helped me to feel comfortable throughout the whole process. We discussed design and placement through email and zoom consultation. The studio had a very calming atmosphere and was clean and aesthetic. Jasmine had different versions of my tattoo drawn up beforehand in separate pieces, and she took time to construct the final tattoo in a way that looked best on my body. I love how it turned out and I highly recommend working with Jasmine if you like the ink flow style!

    One Year Later

One year ago from yesterday, I was tattooed by Rachel at Patch Tattoo Therapy. Rachel was so lovely and made the experience as enjoyable as possible as well as showed no judgement as I was a total pain in the rear to tattoo! Not only did I choose a style that Rachel doesn't specialize in, I also got my *first ever* tattoo on my ribs and was twitching like no other. Despite all of this, my tattoo came out beautifully and I get complimented on it all the time. I have attached photos of my tattoo, one fresh and one a year later, below. Please excuse the poor quality of the more recent picture as I was left temporarily physically handicapped after a car accident so the angle/quality of photograph does not do my tattoo the justice it deserves. Thank you Rachel- I love my tattoo!

I have had the privilege of having @rachel_tattooartist tattoo 5 different tattoos for me at Patch Tattoo Therapy studio. There is a nice relaxed atmosphere in the very clean studio. Rachel is an outstanding artist. Designing and producing three beautiful micro-realism tattoos themed after Stephen King books/characters (the 3 colored ones on the inner forearm). Most recently she worked on both a fantastic forearm length Batgirl tattoo and an awesome Superman in flight tattoo that included some watercolor design into the tattoo. Both of these inspired from original comic art that I own. Not only does Rachel do great work, she is a very friendly and professional artist. Constantly checking in to see if I am doing okay, and if I need anything (water/snack). I will definitely be going back to see Rachel for more body artwork! Thank you Rachel and Patch Tattoo Therapy!

Absolutely incredible experience at Patch Tattoo Therapy. The studio is not your typical grungy dark tattoo studio from the 90s but rather a warm and open layout that creates a welcoming atmosphere. Parking was readily available and honestly super cheap for LA, just make sure you take a break every two hours to feed the meter again. A huge shoutout to Jasmine! She was amazing from start to finish. I came in with a self-drawn idea of what I wanted, and she was so open to my thoughts while also bringing her own incredible artistic vision into the design. She listened to my ideas and made sure it was something personal and unique. It really felt like she cared about my vision and the importance of the tattoo. I never felt rushed and she took the time to try multiple different placements in different spots with me until I was completely satisfied. The end result is absolutely stunning -- truly my favorite tattoo I've ever gotten. The attention to detail and her artistic touch made all the difference. She also frequently checked in with me during the tattoo to ensure that I was comfortable and they also have snacks and drinks on hand if you should need them. The entire process was smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable. I left with more than just a beautiful tattoo. I left with an amazing experience that I'll always remember. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo, I can't recommend this studio especially Jasmine enough. I

This update is for the 11-month post-healing progress, and ongoing customer-service oriented communication between Patch Tattoo Therapy and myself. Kevin kindly reached out to let me know that my tattoo has been featured in a Los Angeles Times article two months ago (I know I'm a bit late.)! Isn't that neat!? See it here: https://www.latimes.com/lifestyle/story/2022-07-11/best-plant-tattoos-that-have-meaningful-stories On to the current state of my tattoo: It has healed wonderfully after the initial session, and free touch up about 2-months later. It's still vivid and beautiful and I receive compliments on the quality of Jingxi's work all the time! I still highly recommend Patch Tattoo Therapy if you're considering a first, or new tattoo!

    The final product!

This was my first tattoo, and I could not have had a better experience. I'd been following Sarabeth on Instagram for a while because I really enjoyed her art style, and then she posted a flash sheet where I genuinely wanted every single piece (hello, art nouveau ). I rushed to put my name in for one, and she got back to me right away. Before my appointment Sarabeth was very communicative about how I should prepare and included parking spots in the area. (There's metered parking in front of the shop but you have to re-pay every 2 hours.) The studio is very nice and extremely clean, with plenty of seating, lots of natural light, and lots of space between chairs so you don't feel cramped. When I came in, Sarabeth greeted me and was very friendly and communicated how the process would go. I signed consent forms and she offered snacks and beverages if I needed anything to eat or drink before starting and if I needed a break. My friend was with me for moral support and had a place to sit and read while she waited for me, and the couch even had a phone charger available. I told Sarabeth it was my first tattoo before we started and she let me ask all the questions I wanted and explained what she was doing throughout the entire visit. The session went by *so* quickly and I was very comfortable and at ease during my appointment. After she was finished, she had me hang out for a while to check on me and then took some photos, covered my tattoo with a clear bandage, and then let me ask even more questions about aftercare. Y'all, the final piece is as gorgeous as her sketch and I will 100% be coming back. I was so anxious for my first tattoo but Sarabeth made it a fantastic experience and I'm so excited to get more of her work in the future. I feel like art!

Rachel is an amazing artist and a true professional. This was my first tatoo and the whole process was so easy. I love my tatoo and Rachel was so easy to work with. She was kind and patient throughout the whole process.

As I write this today, four days after my session, I am in true awe of Jingxi's work as an artist in being able to create an essence in the form of her unique artistic abilities. From the initial outreach for the plant party, seamless communication with Kevin & the tattoo day energy exchange that was felt... everything exceeded expectations & was simply amazing! Jingxi has exceptional experience in not only creating the art piece but also helping to find placement that will really align and shine on your body. I had an "idea" of where I wanted it to go, and when she decided on perfect placement-- I almost started crying because it just felt so right. Honestly, words will never be able to describe the incredible experience it was to be able to surrender full trust into Jingxi creating a masterpiece to live on my body. I love the color of my tattoo. I love the placement on my body. I love the energy I felt while I was on the table for almost 8 hours (with breaks, of course). I walked out a new person, a real rebirth and aliveness awoke within. Thank you for all that you do -- Jingxi & Kevin. You two are a dream team!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and immediately made to feel at ease. The shop itself is very clean and welcoming. The jewelry is beautifully displayed. I just wish I remembered the name of the woman who helped us because she made such an impression. She walked us through all the options at different price points in a way that felt completely neutral and respectful. There was no subtle steering toward something more expensive. It genuinely felt like whatever we chose was the right choice. Ivy, my piercer, was incredibly thorough and precise. I really want to stress how pleasant and painless this piercing was. I am talking pain level 0 out of 10. I AM NOT MAKING THAT UP. She is extremely clean in her process and talked me through every step so I always knew what was happening. The room itself felt like a doctor's office in terms of cleanliness and professionalism. I wanted to write this because there aren't many reviews here about septum piercings specifically. Making memories to be cherished for a lifetime through Joy's artwork…read more.. This is my story of getting 12.28.2007--because every tattoo has a story. Joy was truly instrumental in finding the perfect design. Her impeccable eye for art and class allowed me to make a permanent imprint of something so precious to me, ensuring it lasts a lifetime. I never thought tattoos were for me--especially at this stage in life. I first met Joy eight years ago for microblading to achieve bolder eyebrows. At the time, she was new, but her knowledge and gentle, non-pressured approach gave me confidence. She did an incredible job, and soon, my entire family followed. My wife, sisters, mom, and four nieces all received microblading, ombré, and PMU treatments over the years. As Joy expanded her services, she worked on my male friends as well. One of the most impressive transformations was a scalp micropigmentation (SMP) for my aging friend--it took years off his appearance. After seeing the undetectable results, I had to try it myself. Her SMP work was a game-changer. It covered my shining crown with natural, hair-like artistry and gave me an incredible confidence boost. Then, I started noticing her tattoo work on Instagram--unlike the large, wild designs you often see (which are great, but not my style). Joy's tattoos were elegant, classy, and clean. Even the smallest ones carried powerful meaning. That's when it hit me: a tattoo with deep personal significance is artwork only you can wear. For years, I had wanted a way to honor our beloved first daughter, Rachael, who left us too soon. In Korean, they say, You bury your parents in the ground, but you bury your child in your heart. Those who know... know. Fast forward to my conversations with Joy. We explored different options--hand poke, traditional, various styles. She patiently guided me, helping me refine the idea. Ultimately, we chose Roman numerals, and she meticulously went through fonts and sizes to ensure it was perfect. She took her time, never rushing, making sure I was completely satisfied. When we placed the template, I looked in the mirror. It was perfect. No... it was better than I had imagined. A wish I had carried in my heart was now real--something I could touch and see. The birth and life of our beloved daughter now lives on through this tattoo. Thank you, Joy! Your work is beyond just tattoo. It is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!
