Although there are plenty of bakeries steps away from my door, I make the trip to Buonamici every time I crave freshness, authenticity, and gran gusto! They are family owned and operated, and have been around for generations. Their sweets and treats always deliver a little slice of heaven to my taste buds and their welcoming smiles add to the experience. I have a sweet tooth so experiencing bakeries around town is becoming a hobby of mine and I definitely have a few favorites, however, my last experience at Buonamici is what prompted me to write this review. I was traveling to visit family in another country in the EU and wanted to bring them a little bit of Italy. I chose the classic Italian 'cantucci & vin santo' delight. I was prepared to buy the two separately, but to my surprise Buonamici carried the vin santo (and in different sizes!) so I didn't have to bother with shopping around. I should mention I really love a one stop shop location. Rosella, who helped with my order, was very accommodating and listened to all of my concerns. Biscotti and dessert wine are no big deal, but the beauty of my experience was that she treated my concerns and gave me solutions like it was a big deal, and that for me is grand. My main concern was the gifts getting ruined during travel as I very much dislike ruined packaging when gifting. When I returned to pick up the order, she showed me the box she'd prepared with the treats all carefully wrapped inside, being very mindful of their delicacy. For this reason, my already favored Buonamici is now #1 on my list! read more
