There are many locations and every one I went in was the exact same. Very good pastries with a lot of conchas (Mexican sweet bread). You pick up a tray when you walk in and just walk around with tongs and get what you want and go check out. Lots of variety. Very cheap. I found everything just a bit dry but that is probably just my American expectation. Very tasty regardless. The first time we got five different items and it was around $3 US. Also have gelato, which was very good. My favorite thing was a big, gooey chocolate chip cookie, which they didn't always have. Great stop whenever you see one. read more

I stopped by Pastelerias Esperanza as I came across the shop after finishing my day tour and while walking back to my place. The shop is modern, attractive and full of people. It also showcases many pastries/goodies in the front (clear windows...so you can see the traffic/all that the shop has to offer. You can self help and pick any items you want and pay at the cashier. They do have a variety of selection of pastries, bread, cake, etc, so...you are bound to find something you want. I was in a mood for desserts and got 4 items: cakes and donut. The prices were quite affordable, too! I got all of them for just $MX 76 total and they were packaged well! The only one star was just that I think their desserts are too sweet for my taste. I get that the desserts were meant for sweet tooth, but I found all of what I got a little too sweet for my taste. Otherwise, if you are going for other pastry items / bread or are just a real sweet tooth person, this is a good place to check out for sure! read more

First of all this place is heaven sent .. they have sooooo many kinds of breads sweet and savory. If you are visiting you have to check this place out. Everything I got was phenomenal even the sandwiches they make to go. The conchas and donuts are sooo soft. I got a classic chocolate covered but definitely tasted like a hint of coffee was in it (must try). Their croissants are soo good too and slightly sweet. Everything is inexpensive too. I must have paid all of 7$ for 4 different kinds of breads and a sandwich. I miss this place so much. Wish we had it in the states. read more

We stopped by one lazy morning for some deep, dark coffee and all kinds of different pastries. My favorite is their chocolate donut. The chocolate in Mexico just tastes better, a little darker, a little less sweet and a perfect topping for their friend dough. I stopped over here for an early lunch today. I had been here before a couple of times because the bakery cafe is located right smack in the middle of the historic downtown area. This bakery/ cafe is super specialized in all baked things, including every type of pie, cake, and pastry that you can think of. And even some you can't! I am a big fan of their conchas and canista pastries. They don't have many tables inside, and I believe that most of their space is dedicated to the shelves and shelves, and coolers filled with their delicious products. Today I decided to go for something different which was the croissant with pachuga de pavo, which is basically a turkey croissant. I also went for the the large cafe Americano which itself cost only $24 pesos! Most other cafes charge upwards of $40 pesos for cafe. This place was extremely busy when I came in and I was lucky to find a small table on the side. My order was prepared fast, and I appreciated their attentiveness. read more

I needed an early morning coffee shop/bakery because we were going to have an early start to our day all the reviews for this place were great and everyone kept mentioning the larger variety of baked goods. It was less than a ten minute walk from our accommodations and the streets were still fairly quiet when we went so it was a very convenient spot to check out. We got there around 8am, so baked goods were still getting racked onto the shelves but there were tons to pick from what they had out already. We got two breakfast sandwiches that were heated up which I definitely recommend, it softens the bread and melts the cheese. We also got two sweet baked goods for a snack later in the day for our all-day excursion, and two cappuccinos. There is no where to sit so everything is take away. The flavors of everything weren't anything extraordinary, but it was a quick and easy option! Their system is very efficient too, you get the baked breads on your own (get a tray and tongs at the entrance), go to a line where they bag it for you, get any sandwiches, coffees, personal cakes/tarts (the fig tart looked delicious) at the cafe bar and then pay for everything at the register. read more

I am not usually a big fan of pan dulce. But I was a BIG fan of the items I tried from Pastelieria Esperanza. My sons said they made the softest, best conchas ever (and those boys eat a lot of conchas) I tried several items, and all were very good, but My favorite was one I don't know the name of, but it has a dollop of sweet cream cheese in the center. Opened early and late, which is great when you need a quick breakfast before heading out for the day, or a late dessert. read more

Your choice is limited if you don't like cheese as almost all the sandwiches have at least one cheese on them. Still worth a visit though if your going for cake. This is one of the places that I loved the most in Mexico City. We stayed at an AirBnB down the street, and it was so good that we visited every morning for pastries and coffee! A great bakery in CDMX where the croissants were delicious, made like in France! Try the sourdough 'gondola' a fun shaped bread. Great whole wheat options too. They have a huge variety of breads, it's clean with a mural etched in stone where they wrap your bread. They sell coffee, drinks, pizzas and sandwiches and have a few tables to enjoy your meal. My NEW favorite as it is less complicated service than La Ideal and a European flavor. Awesome! There are many locations, so stop in and indulge. read more
