You know you're at the right place because of the HUGE "TAKEOUT" sign above. I got the chicken, creamed spinach, Brazilian rice, fries, salad, and chili sauce on the side. The chicken was delicious and juicy, though a bit salty. The creamed spinach was surprisingly good. The Brazilian rice was a surprise because it had organ meat mixed in, including what tasted like liver. I enjoyed it. The salad was pretty basic, so I'd skip it next time. The fries were soggy and disappointing, definitely not worth ordering. I also got their chili sauce for €3.50 in a small bottle, but it wasn't anything special, so I'd pass on that next time, too. My must-orders: chicken and creamed spinach. Skip the fries, salad, and chili sauce.

My favorite Portugal/Spain travel YouTuber, Tony Galvez, highly recommended this spot for this dish. Who am I to argue with Tony?? Upon arrival, there were at least twenty people in line. In a town where there are hundreds of places to eat, this in itself was notable. We cued up despite being starving. We ended up waiting maybe 20 minutes because we were a party of 2. Larger parties waited much longer. Tables are mostly in front of the restaurant. If you are self-conscious at all, something to keep in mind. Service is professional and prompt. We shared the salad misto. It was so fresh and lightly dressed, we ate the entire thing! The chicken is the star of the entire restaurant. Every table ordered it for good reason. The chicken itself is incredibly juicy and seasoned perfectly with simple salt and pepper from what I could tell. Then you spoon on the sauce and the dish just comes alive. I should have taken an after photo. My plate looked like a wild animal attacked that thing, no meat left whatsoever! We ordered the rice as our side. Great decision. It soaked up all the lovely juices and added to the whole experience. Highly recommend. Many tables ordered fries which is kind of traditional in Portugal. For dessert, I had the wonderful rice pudding, and my husband got the gelato. Generous portions! And light. Good finish for a delightful meal. Do not miss Bonjardim when in Lisbon. Just be sure to come with only one other person or split up if you want to get seated more quickly. When you see that food, you will want to get to it asap!

Definitely make a reservation online, but be aware that they charge €25 per person to secure it…read more The good news is that this amount goes toward the cost of your meal. First off, the bread they serve at the beginning is delicious, so definitely keep it at the table! It'll be perfect when you order the shrimp or clams in garlic sauce because you'll want to soak up every last bit of that delicious sauce. My top recommendations are the giant shrimp (my fave), the shrimp in garlic sauce, and the steak sandwich at the end (be sure to order the steak RARE!)

Holy moly, though, we are so happy that we made the trek from our hotel to this restaurant. We shared one of their giant tiger prawns on sea salt that they are so famous for, along with garlic clams in a white wine, broth, and garlic shrimp. OMG it was all SO delicious, and we couldn't get enough of the broth that came with the clams. Definitely get the bread that they offer because you need something to scoop up all that yummy garlic butter. We were also super excited because they had gluten-free bread to offer, which made my friend and partner so so happy! The service was excellent, and the server went so far as to advise us that we had originally ordered too much food, and recommended we removed one of our original selections. We're so happy that he did, because we were stuffed afterwards. The ambience is so lively, we were seated at a communal table meant for eight, so we shared it with another party, but it didn't feel too cramped. Yes, it is a bit pricier for sure, perhaps one of our most expensive in Lisbon, but well worth it. Make reservations ahead of time if you can, and ask servers for recommendations based on your preferences. Keep in mind that some of the prices are based on a kilogram, so if you want just one or two pieces, it won't be so expensive. You won't be disappointed!

What an amazing restaurant!…read more My travel partner and I were staying in Rossio, when we stumbled across this place (literally, after taking 12 flights of those notorious Lisbon staircases, our legs were jelly). This was the most attentive service I have ever gotten in life. The waiter, an elderly man who may have been the owner as well, was incredibly warm and helpful, and the love that he felt for the restaurant was palpable. I ordered the fish stew with a side of collard greens. It was absolutely divine in a way that is hard to articulate. I generally have an aversion to most fish (outside of salmon, honestly) but this meal was so incredibly flavorful that I wish I could make it at home. Our caipirinhas were tasty (try the lime), though they could have been a bit stronger. At the end of the meal, we were asked to sign a guestbook. Flipping through and seeing notes from all over the world made me feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Definitely a feel-good restaurant and a tasty meal.
