Our hotel outside of Amsterdam was located in between a number of tech businesses and a…read moreneighborhood. This was our last dinner after 3 weeks Europe. We had an early departure and so didn't want a heavy meal. Our hotel staff recommend pizza here. We ordered a pizza with chicken, spinach, sweet peppers and olives on it, and a margherita pizza. While waiting for the pizzas, we had to try the espresso martinis. These were top notch! I'd count amongst the best martinis I've had. When the pizzas came, we were blown away. We had asked the size and were told a usual individual pizza, so we were expecting dinner plate size. These were AT LEAST twice that. We so wished we had only ordered one and shared. The crust was thin, cracker-like and we liked that very much. Among our best meals. I missed the photo as we were too ready to dig in! The restaurant was very lively, lots of festive music and plenty of people watching available. The restaurant didn't come up on any of our online suggestions while traveling, but if you are ever in the area, don't hesitate. Do be careful, because short walk in Europe is quite different from an American short walk. The walk was about 15-20 minutes from our hotel. The air was brisk, and part of the walk is along the water... so to our American friends... just bundle up and go for it! The walk and the evening was a delight!

The best inexpensive restaurant in the area, you get huge portions and it's delicious. Walked in…read moredurning evening hours and literally closed the place with the staff. Unsure if they were short staffed but it took some time to be seated and for my order to be taken. I tried the bruschetta for apps and the spaghetti carbonara for my main. And for dessert I had the best tiramisu I have ever tried.

I ordered the Tegliterri with Tonato and Fresh Burrata as well as the Lamb Chops.. and Lemon Spongecake for dessert. It was very good and flavorful. The staff have been professional and personable and the environment charming. I highly recommend II Pacioccone! Kevin, who is a server was very helpful and attentive.

Il Pacioccone is a cozy spot in what looks like a historic building. We started with the bruschetta…read moreand meatballs. The bruschetta was simple but really fresh--the buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes had a lot of flavor. The meatballs came in a light tomato sauce and were tender, not overly dense. For mains, we had the tagliatelle ragu and the pappardelle with mushrooms. The pasta seems to be homemade--it's got that bite and texture. The duck ragu was rich and comforting, with just enough sauce to coat the noodles but not drown them. The pappardelle was a highlight--big, silky noodles tossed with mushrooms that actually tasted like mushrooms, not just something from a can. The flavors were earthy and balanced, and you could tell everything was cooked to order. Service was relaxed and friendly, which fit the mood of the place. However, it was slow given there was only two people working. It's the kind of restaurant where you can take your time and actually talk to whoever you're with.
