We had an early departure and so didn't want a heavy meal. Our hotel staff recommend pizza here. We ordered a pizza with chicken, spinach, sweet peppers and olives on it, and a margherita pizza. While waiting for the pizzas, we had to try the espresso martinis. These were top notch! I'd count amongst the best martinis I've had. When the pizzas came, we were blown away. We had asked the size and were told a usual individual pizza, so we were expecting dinner plate size. These were AT LEAST twice that. We so wished we had only ordered one and shared. The crust was thin, cracker-like and we liked that very much. Among our best meals. I missed the photo as we were too ready to dig in! The restaurant was very lively, lots of festive music and plenty of people watching available. The restaurant didn't come up on any of our online suggestions while traveling, but if you are ever in the area, don't hesitate. Do be careful, because short walk in Europe is quite different from an American short walk. The walk was about 15-20 minutes from our hotel. The air was brisk, and part of the walk is along the water... so to our American friends... just bundle up and go for it! The walk and the evening was a delight!

Unsure if they were short staffed but it took some time to be seated and for my order to be taken. I tried the bruschetta for apps and the spaghetti carbonara for my main. And for dessert I had the best tiramisu I have ever tried.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. Amazing Italian food, it's easy to miss but…read moreso worth it. Service: As some have said the service is a little slow but I took it more as relaxing. This is one of those restaurants that you go to for the "dining experience". Not an in and out rushed kind of establishment, your truly "dining" and enjoying the moment kind of a place. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgable of the menu offering us great suggestions. Food: Some of the best Italian food I've had in a long time. From start to finish everything was out of this world. -To start the burrata and tomato was very fresh and tasty. Some of the best burrata surprisingly, I didn't imagine Amsterdam would be known for this Italian treat when all of their cheeses usually offered are hard. The olive oil dressing to match was great, I have burrata & tomato salads all of the time but this one blew me away....maybe I was just hungry from all the walking but that's not the point, give it a try. My main dish: pesto pasta. Great! Super flavorful and the green beans mixed in was a treat. I honestly stuffed my face, the serving size is large but it's too good to just eat half. I'd highly recommend this dish as I saw many also ordered it. The ravioli was good as well, I stole a bit from the table. Pricing is reasonable given its a nicer restaurant in the area with great quality food. This place is a true Italian dining experience, I'd highly recommend this place for a romantic dinner or just simply to impress your guests with a hidden gem.

This place needs some sizzle to go with their steak. Stopped in specifically looking for possibly…read moresome good olive oils and dried pasta. The dried pasta choices consisted of... not very much. Ended up taking some pricey garden variety spaghetti noodles, actually what I was looking for and they did the job just fine for my needs. The store is sort of underwhelming visually and the presentation of the prepared foods sort of the same. We eat with our eyes, too. Service was just... at its more basic blandest. No attempt to show interest or make small talk. OK I guess, but light years from what I received at Olives and More not far from here so even though they don't compete on all levels, easy to pick where I'd return and where I won't. I like the idea of what's going on here but the people running it seem to have a different idea about what makes up a retail space. Can't imagine this kind of experience in Italy, and yes, I have travelled there.

The Italian Bistro Project is authentic: an…read moreItalian couple moved around Europe to make Amsterdam their home and the place to share their delicacies. Menu is small and contains just a few sandwiches and meals, but the food is real Italian. The couple is also super friendly and takes time to proudly present what is offered. The reason why my rating is only 3 stars is the following. First of all it takes quite long to get the order. I was initially the only customer and the first to order, but still it took 20 minutes for 3 sandwiches. Yes, a lot of love and time was put in it. But 20 minutes for a sandwich to go is too long. Your sandwich is prepared in the kitchen in the back, so be prepared to see the chefs disappear for minutes and just trust they will be back. Secondly, the place looks like they moved in yesterday. When I asked how long ago they moved in, they answered: "5 months ago!!" Wow, either they have been REALLY busy, or the focus is REALLY on the food. The nice thing about Italian places usually is the nice atmosphere and decorations, which this place, according to my taste, lacks. Lastly, the price is a bit high. If you just look for a place to get a nice bread or meal to take away and have some patience, try this out. For me for now it will be 3 stars, but I will come back to order other food and reconsider.
