Ok, I didn't really want to write a review for a psychiatrist on Yelp, but she absolutely does not…read moredeserve 2 stars. I've seen 3 different psychiatrists, including her. All they have to do is ask how the medicine is working. If things are going well, they can just prescribe more and that's the end of the session. If things aren't going well, they can make other suggestions and prescribe other meds. Dr. Rickenbacker always asked me how things were going, how my job was, etc. She actually cared about my life outside of the medicine she was prescribing. She was also always up to date on the latest research and had me trying out the latest medicines. She was actually a bit creative in that regard and could recommend things that weren't necessarily what every other psychiatrist was prescribing. In the end, her knowledge and her ability to think outside the box is what found a medicine that worked for me. I always scheduled my next appointment with her after my session was over, so I usually didn't have any problems, but I do remember her being hard to schedule with if I had to cancel. She does frequently run over her session times, but I always made sure to schedule plenty of time off work to see her, so it never interfered with anything for me. On days she was running late, I never felt like she rushed through my session to try to catch up. I realize these are big drawbacks, but she is really worth it. The only reason I don't see her anymore is because she no longer takes my insurance.

Over the past eight days I have made multiple requests to schedule an appointment with this doctor…read morewhom my insurance company recommended; two attempts online (new patient form) and two by phone. I have yet to recieve a call back. Followup (03/26): I did recieve a call after sixteen business days however, their services were no longer required. UPDATE!!! Five years later now. My new insurance has strong armed me into leaving my current physician. I decided to give Denae a second chance, given her close proximity to my office. Nearly the same issues again! It was difficult to reach someone, although easier than in 2012. They are currently only accepting new patients by referral which seems odd. I tried to play the game, having my doctor fax over Denae's required form which feels more like an application/screening. After numerous attempts, Denae's office denied receiving the form. My very generous current physician even made multiple attempts to call her office but could not get through to a live person. It appears the poor client service is a cornerstone for Denae's practice.

In 2020 we were navigating Covid, 2 kids under 2, and an intense medical journey with our disabled son to find out his exact diagnosis. Our marriage struggled through the typical SAHP vs working parent dynamic. My husband was overworked and stressed from being the sole provider for our family during this difficult time. I was complete overwhelmed by day-to-day life with 2 very young kids plus the added stress of navigating (mostly virtual) specialist Dr appts, therapy (physical, speech, and occupational), and learning everything I could about child development to help my son at home since our access to professionals was limited. Susan sided with my husband. I specifically remember her suggesting I allow him 20 minutes to "decompress from his work day" when he comes home. The final straw was when she suggested once a week or so I tidy the house before he gets home and greet him at the door with a fresh cocktail. This is after the fact that we had told her multiple times we are not big drinkers (which kept coming up since oddly many of her suggestions for spending quality time together included drinking). Gag. My husband was equally mortified by these suggestions (even though they benefit him) and we made the mutual decision to discontinue therapy.

Initially I came in seeking help with my marriage, not anything specific but just knowing that it was not in the place it could be. I've been to counselors in the past but not really connected with them so it made the whole process awkward and uncomfortable. Now I know that is not how it's supposed to be! I felt comfortable talking to her almost immediately, it was such a relaxed and safe environment, and her overall demeanor is very calming and open. She's really helped me to become the person I want to be (a work in progress). I feel like I have become a better wife, mother and professional. I've even got my husband coming in too. I called the office to inquire if my minor medical issue qualified, super friendly, and professional Individual answer my call and put me on a brief hold, came back in, said that most definitely did qualify and that if it worked with my schedule, they could see me Within two hours. Fantastic doctor! This is a wonderful medical practice right in Leander. Dr. Chikkala is fabulous!…read more I am so happy I found this family practice for my husband and me. Here's why this place rocks: 1. It's easy to get appointments that fit in your schedule. You can usually get them within a week or less. If you are sick, you can even get same day appointments! 2. You get seen at your appointment time. Yes, you get called back on time! I can say this with good background too. My husband has been going here for regular routine visits for about 6 months. He has always been called back on time each visit. I have been once so far and was called back on time as well. To date, it has been about 7 visits all on time! 3. Dr. Chikkala comes in to the room within 5 minutes after the nurse completes the triage. No waiting for ages for the doctor. 4. Dr. Chikkala is really professional and spends quality time with you. You don't just feel like a number with her trying to get out of the room as soon as possible. She talks with you and really works to get to the root of the problem that you are having. Once a treatment plan is devised, she goes over with you and really makes sure you understand the medicines and routines you need to do. 5. You truly feel valued here. The front desk people are friendly. The nurses are helpful and have good bedside manner. Dr. Chikkala is super on top of everything as well. This really is a great medical practice. I've been looking for a good doctor near me in Leander and I am so happy to have found Crystal Falls Family Medicine. I came to get my medications renewed and my pharmacy sent them to be ordered from the office. When I returned to the pharmacy they said they never got a reply. I would call the Dr.s office and it would go to voicemail and I would never hear back. I called quite a few times. I figured they closed or moved. I felt very betrayed at the time. I had to see someone else and then they moved. I recently went on Yelp to find a new doctor and saw that Dr. Chikkala was still at the same place!?? WT? I left another message, again, no response! I drove over there today and only the nurse was there. I told her about all this and said she would have someone get back to me. So Dr. Chikkala's husband (who runs the front) Just now called me. He was very rude to me. He said that because it had been almost 2 years that she was no longer my doctor, (well of course she wasn't). I wanted to go back to see her. He wanted to go round and round about when he "said" he called me back a long time ago and it was ME that never responded. LOL really? I DID call, MANY MANY Times! No one ever got back to me. Very irresponsible for a doctor's office. So, I said I would like to get in to see her. Then he tells me that I have to find another doctor because she won't have any information from the last 2 years?? Well, they can get that information from the last group I was at. He proceeded to then just make up stuff and it got ridiculous. He made no sense, I realized he was just being an ass. I really do not wish to deal with people like that so I will find a new, better, more communicative, and responsive doctor's office.
