Not sure if it was sheer luck or the time that I went but went in at 10.45 am and there was a 5 minute wait to get my application. Polite service, no wait, amazing! I think they've hired extra staff to help with the backlog. I was also promised my wait would only be 10 days for the passport, woohoo! Talk about service from a government agency. read more

I was just at the SInclair Centre Passport Canada office three days ago and I had an amazing experience there. I then stumbled upon this site and felt compelled to leave some kind words for the staff at the office, but also to their managers. Every person that I dealt with was kind and friendly and very good at what they do. They must process hundreds, if not thousands, of documents daily and they must also deal with some less polite folks in the course of a regular day. Everyone was very adept at what they were doing and to me this says that the people responsible for their training and management are really doing a great job. I totally screwed up and had let my son's passport expire, only noticing during online check in for our family trip to Cancun! We rescheduled our flight and nervously went to Passport Canada Monday morning to get him an URGENT passport renewal. Everyone was understanding and helpful at Passport Canada and worked with us to get his passport processed with urgent service. It cost more but I applied Monday morning and picked it up Tuesday afternoon in time for our flight on Wednesday morning. Such a relief that Passport Canada offers urgent service for the times when we have dropped the ball and need to fix it fast! read more

The total process took an hour (having had 1. completed renewal form 2. passport photos 3. credit card info all on hand). Most of it was just waiting in line. Once at the till, the pre-screening took 5 minutes at most. The lady was efficient and nice. On arrival, the line up looked daunting to say the least, but it moved along well considering the number of people there. The security guards were so nice and one was super funny. He made the time pass by quicker and was helpful answering questions about how long the wait was until you reached the till as well as where to go depending on your needs. read more

Our trip to France was months in the planning. We got to the airport and were refused onto the plane by Transat because our passports were 'damaged'. The centre pages were loose. They were 10 year passports that we had received one year ago and used on 2 trips, the last one to Hawaii in November. The passports were stored in the safety deposit box at all other times. The next morning we went to the Vancouver downtown passport office with all of our flight information and new forms, pictures etc. to apply for a fast tracked passport to try and salvage our vacation. We were treated as if we were criminals and had done this to our passports ourselves!! We were grilled about our flight time which we told them was yesterday and we have the return flight booked. We did not wish to book a flight until we had passports in hand. The agent relented and said we would not have passports for another 4 days. We were charged full price plus surcharge to fast track. We can only think the cause was a combination of poor quality manufacturing and an aggressive American agent who bent the stiff new passports back and forth to lay them flat to scan. These people are deeply incompetent. Firstly the agent did not return my B.C. I.D. card or driver's licence. She phoned me half an hour after I left the office to tell me this. How pathetic. She acted completely nonchalant about it, despite the fact that it was her ineptitude that resulted in this inconvenience for me. It gets much worse. Two days after going through the process of having my application okayed and paying my money, this same agent calls to tell me that my application cannot be processed! It turns out that my guarantor (a lawyer, but not a passport holder) is not acceptable. I have not had a passport in many years, so did not realize the rules had changed. Could she not have told me this on the day I spent 2 hours at the passport office? The space on the application form for the guarantor's passport number was blank, so how could this not be seen and dealt with at the time?! Unbelievable. read more

I had a terrible experience the first time I went in. Apparently my grandma being in the hospital is not an emergency. After the guy laughed at me and told me that he noticed I was crying and was a little nicer, I was not impressed. However, had I had a flight ticket and no sick family members I would have been fine to get the two day passport. I had to go back the next day because my grandma ended up passing away that night. So when I went back I had a really nice lady helping me and had no problems there. I did have to show them my plane ticket and write a statement. Needless to say next time I need to renew my passport I will do it in advance and not deal with anyone in person if possible, the first guy completely ruined the experience for me. read more

This place is zombie-land with a bunch of emotionless robots pushing papers around. These people are mean and reduce you to nothing by treating you like a cockroach. Applying for my Canadian passport should have been a celebration of my citizenship but at the end of my ordeal, tears of frustration was streaming down my face. The information on the government of Canada website and the information given by different people working here are different especially if your situation deviate even slightly from average (e.g. student studying abroad temporarily). read more

I believe the requirement to get a job at Passport Canada is to be a miserable, unhappy individual who would never get to use their own passports to have a much needed vacation. Every time I have visited this office, I was directed into line by a grumpy and unhappy officer, then met with an equally grumpy desk staff. Does passport canada tell their staff that they cannot smile, crack a joke or have a personality? I wanted to pay extra for the urgent next day passport (supposed to be ready in 24 hours) as I was going to fly standby on a buddy pass the next night... but they wanted proof of travel - although why would I pay for my flight before having my passport?? I would have had proof of travel if I could secure my passport, but obviously I could not do that without it. Now I paid for the express, have to wait a few days longer, and missed my opportunity to leave when I wanted to leave. read more

I just had to write a review. I went to the passport office at Sinclair Centre - 757 West Hastings Street, Vancouver. I was blown away by how fast I renewed my passport. I had filled out the application for renewal online, had my photo and credit card information. I walked in on a Monday morning at 10:30 am and was OUT THE DOOR AND FINISHED at 10:45 am. Unbelievably fast. I will get my passport registered mail in 2 weeks. read more

I submitted my son's passport application by mail in January, thinking I had plenty of time for it to arrive before his trip to Europe in March. Unfortunately I was wrong and had some hiccups along the way. About 25 days before we had to leave we still had not been told that it was finished and I called the Quebec office and had them transfer the stuff to the Vancouver office. I dealt with Tracey by phone and fax for all additional info she needed and I was able to pick it up with my son a week and a half later. Just in time for the trip. They were great. read more

This place was amazing! We needed a passport that was lost and went down at 11:45AM, filled out a ton of paperwork with very little ID payed not a shit load, but a ton and walked out with a spanking new passport by 4:00 PM. The lady was super helpful and the lines were sooooo small that day. I think it just was our luck right at that moment as that they were in the midst of renos and the new office downstairs just opened...Thanks guys! You were helpful! read more

Do not expect any real help from passport Canada if you loose your passport . They have been very unhelpful to my sister who lost her passport in Botswana. They have given her the run around and it has been a nightmare. She had had to do everything twice. It is a disgrace. read more

I have never blogged however, I have to provide feedback on the performance I witnessed this morning at the Sinclair Passport office this morning. As I was waiting and waiting, I could not help notice that the 'pre-service only had ONE person working the desk??? Why? It was 8:45am and it just opened and the line was endless. Once I rec'd my 'number', again you sit and wait and I had the opportunity to be sitting facing the three staff working the desks. I have to say I was completely appalled and disappointed in the behavior of the staff. Chatting and gossiping and talking about pay raises etc, NOT taking anyone waiting and clearly not caring. If they did take a person once they finished they had to walk away for over 5 minutes before they took another one. Clearly an inconsiderate waste of time for everyone waiting including myself. Once I finally got to the desk, I was treated rudely and that's when I decided to send out this blog. Very unprofessional and annoying!! read more
