I think the business name speaks for itself, and if you are here, you are really here for only one thing, which also means you need this one thing cause you are going somewhere (and hopefully somewhere fun). It is a pretty central location, as if you are driving there is a paid parking lot, and if you are taking transit it is not that far to walk here. OK, that being all said to getting here, then the next question, yes you can book online for an appointment, that is also the best option is to book online, but if you like to roll the dice, and many of you do, well then the walk in option is here and I can say I am two-for-two for having an awesome experience, including the wait time. On my most recent visit, the line-up was pretty deep, but the people know exactly how to move the line-up. I honestly thought this was going to be a +2 hour process, and it wasn't. Right at the start when you come up to the third floor you will see a security guard who also guides you to the correct line-up, as you could be coming just to pick up your passport from here, or other odd inquiries. The main line-up is for the pre-screening, where the person who is working goes through your application and to make sure you have everything you need to get to the next step (signatures, photos, supporting documents) and then provides you with a slip and tells you to wait to watch your number to appear and go to the appropriate window. Once you are through this, the last part is easy, it really is just collecting payment. The biggest thing is, make sure you have the application filled out, and also the checklist of everything you need with the application, cause if not, you are slowing the whole process for you, and the people waiting behind you, as you will see the eyes roll.... especially when you are one of those people that comes well prepared. I came here to renew my passport, arrived at 12:30pm on a Thursday, and I was all done by 1:30pm! It's close to Landsdowne mall and Richmond Public Market, so you can go do some shopping or grab food easily after. The staff at the counter was so friendly and efficient. The washroom is clean. I went round and round on the website, finally phoned an operator and after 10 minutes of waiting and then going through the whole online process again, was told that the Richmond office offered no appointments for the next 25 days -- i.e. it offers no appointments, period. read more

I visited this office last Friday (Mar 14) to renew my passport, and I must say, I received the best service ever. The staff was not only friendly but also very efficient. I especially want to commend the gentleman at Counter #6 (middle-aged, wearing glasses and a gray top) who assisted me around noon. He was one of the best public employees I have encountered in Canada! Tips: 1. Have your form filled out and ready in advance, including the photos. 2. Like someone else mentioned... what's not to like about a passport office? Anyways... here are my tips: 1) Make an appointment in advance!! I'm ridiculously thankful I did. My appointment was at 9:30. I arrived at 9:20 and picked up my ticket like a VIP from the front entrance skipping the ridiculously long queue and went upstairs to the passport office. I left the office by 9:40. According to the person I made my appointment with on the phone, the w/o appointment queues can be as long as 3 hrs long and they might still turn you away at the end of the day! This is especially a problem due to them limiting the number of people inside the office due to Covid. 2) there is a parking fee: ~$3/ hr? 3) If you want your passport "quickly"... it's an "extra" $50 if you want it completed by 2-9 "business" days instead of the normal 10 "business" days. I need to wave this because the passport situation is ridiculous right now and people need help. Realized my passport was expired on May 1st, and I was travelling the 19th. After a bit of reconnaissance, I found out that Express passports weren't being processed and I needed to come to the passport office 48 hours before my travel date with PRINTED PROOF OF TRAVEL (this is key) to get an Urgent passport. I showed up at 11pm the night before, this is in a safe and relatively quiet area unlike downtown Van or Surrey offices. I was lonely for about an hour and a half and thinking I was crazy, but then people started showing up after midnight to line up with me. It was cold and uncomfortable. Most people showed up around 5 AM. When the office opened at 830, they informed people that they were prioritizing appointments, and taking walk ins (us) when they could. Which meant right away at 830 myself and at least 3 other people from the walk in line were sent up. Anyone not travelling in 48 hours wouldn't be processed until after 12pm, before that, they were only taking Urgent. Security is going through it and dealing with a lot of unhappy and confused people, so have compassion for them. Upstairs, everyone is very happy and friendly. I paid an arm and a leg but I have my passport and it was definitely worth the urban camping trip. Hope this helps other desperate travellers. read more

Passport Canada - Lineup at 8AM. - Passport & Visa Services Near Me - Richmond, British Columbia

I went to renew my child's passport as a walk in yesterday. I first waited two hours in a holding room on the second floor of the building. Upon arrival to the holding room I was given a ticket. When my ticket was called you proceed in groups of 5 to the third floor where you wait for more than another hour. There were 12 available wickets for passport agents. While I was at the office only four wickets were open out of an available 12. Of the four, the agents went on rotating breaks, thus only three wickets were ever in use at once out of the 12. All the agents and security guards are kind. My question is with 12 wickets for agents, why were only three in use at once. Clearly staffing is why it takes three hours to get a passport. My actual time at the wicket was 15 minutes. read more

How can a federal government office be run so poorly with 4hrs wait from 9am to 1pm just to get a passport renewed in early December.

I prefer this location over the downtown one. Parking is slightly cheaper and lines are slightly shorter. I decided to go during a weekday at 1PM and the total time I had to wait was 45mins. Just remember to download the PDF form on their site and have it filled out before. Uh how could you NOT like a passport office? I mean they could decline your passport application. Ok, all joking aside, this is the best passport office in the Lower Mainland. Often overlooked which makes it not as busy as Vancouver or Surrey which are just always busy. The officers who work here are friendly, quick and efficient. Makes for a more pleasant experience since this stuff is pretty stressful... and expensive. You can put in your application here but you have to pick it up in Vancouver, but there's also very little queue to pick it up since there's a separate lineup. read more

Renewed my passport recently at this location. Parking costs $3.25 for the hour. Filled out all my forms ahead of time, waited in line for a bit, then got a number to talk to someone. Total wait time was about 20 minutes. Spoke to Passport office person for about 5, then agreed to pick up my passport in the downtown office for an extra $10. I have to say, I was SHOCKED to find a Government office open these hours: Monday-Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. No, that is no typo, it's the real deal! I drove from Burnaby to Richmond handed in all my paperwork, paid and drove back to Burnaby all in 1 hour. This seems to be the quiet location compared to having been to Vancouver and Surrey for previous Passports. Everyone was nice and friendly, quick service and quick turn around time too. This location is a block away from Landsdowne Mall and three blocks from Richmond Centre... lots of places to go and get your photo taken. Check out their website for forms and costs. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place so that's why I'm giving it three stars. Parking downstairs is extremely tight, the parking machine takes credit cards only and it's $3.25 per hour. When you first enter the place there is a security guard at the door who will ask you what you need to get done. I had to get my passport renewed so I was directed toward the line up that was for pre-screening where the person behind the counter will check to make sure you have all the documents ready and filled out. There were two counters opened for pre-screening and the wait time really depended on the other applicants... if they didn't fill something out correctly or had a bunch of questions then you would need to wait longer. (Which was what happened when I was there). When it got to my turn the worker looked through my documents fairly quickly, highlighted a few things for the processing person to see and sent me on my way with my ticket number. Then I had to grab a seat and just wait for my number to show up on the screen. While I was waiting I noticed that there were only 4 counters opened when they had a total of 12 counters... It took a long time before a new number showed up on the screen... and it seriously looked like the processing agents were taking their sweet time. Soon after the whole place began to fill up to the point where there were families standing because they were unable to get a seat. I looked at the counters again expecting there to be more opened however there were still 4 counters. Finally... after 30 minutes of waiting the numbers started to show up on the screen and it seemed to me like more counters were opened. Around.. 6 counters maybe. When it got to my turn the lady was very quick and efficient. She typed everything on her computer and gave me clear instructions for picking up my passport since I needed it to be expedited and not mailed to me. This is the only passport office in Richmond and I won't need to be coming here until the next time my passport expires which is in 10 years. So I'll still be coming back. read more

This location is no longer open extended hours. It is open from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. It is however, still a sweet oasis of passport application bliss. It is no where near as busy as the downtown location - making it the perfect location to drop off your completed application and/or make inquiries about the process. This location does not offer pick-up service so your completed passport will have to be picked up downtown - they will advise you of the details and times when you file your application. Be sure to pay for parking in the lot outside this building - it is a paid lot and it is rigorously patrolled. Also, be sure to check the Passport Canada site for all the details about completing a passport application to make sure you are as prepared as you can be and save yourself any hassle. read more

The man who processed my paperwork was fantastic but the Asian lady with the nose piercing who reviewed my initial paperwork had a annoyingly condescending attitude. The first time she checked it, she told me I had filled out a portion of my application incorrectly so I went home, fixed it, and came back the next day. She then proceeded to point out another part of my application that needed to be remedied as well. This happened three times on three separate occasions before everything was finally given the go-ahead. Not that I mind fixing something I did wrong, but I just wish that she had looked over my paperwork thoroughly the first time around so I wouldn't have to come over and over again. read more

My question is my Canadian passport has missed out my middle name and my UK renewal office requires my present name as the Canadian passport misses out my middle name. The main thing is: complete all the PDF forms and bring required photos ahead of time before even going to the office. Got there at 3pm on Wed. Already over 20 people sitting there. Took about half hour to get to the agent. The East Asian lady is very friendly and helpful. She told me right away it would take 2 weeks to get my passport while processing my simplified application. I asked about buying shielded cover and she explained to me it's totally unnecessary. She said it's not the same system used in the Nexus card. I was probably the quickest person walked out of the office, only 7 minutes and I was all done. I saw some were standing at the counter for more than 20 minutes. She told me the new passport would be mailed to me in about 2 weeks. I don't know why some talked about paying a fee to pickup. Perhaps it's a rush request. But no need for a simplified renewal. I was expecting less than half hour wait as they should have a dedicated line for simplified applications. So I didn't give it 5 stars. read more
