The horror stories that I heard and read online about hours for waiting in line around the blocks…read moremust have been a thing of the past during the pandemic. Granted my visit today was an in-person submission of a simplified adult renewal application. There was no line at the entrance to the office. I advised the 2 security guards the purpose of my visit. I was given a slip to complete my credit card information for the application fee. One of them then led me to a very short line for 1 window with only 2 people ahead of me. I had my form fully completed (but not signed yet), my photos and my current passport. When it was my turn, the clerk reviewed my form, had me signed the application form and another form with my picture pasted on, and told me my passport will be mailed in 2 weeks time so I should get it by registered in 2-5 business days from the day it is mailed. I asked about the pick up option. She told me it would not be any faster and there would be an extra charge of $20 so I opted for the mailing option. Including waiting for the 2 people ahead of me to be processed, I was in an out in 30 minutes.

Okay fine. I call head office and tell them to use our concierge desk, they say okay we'll try again tomorrow. Two days later no package. I call Clearly for a tracking number. I input the number of Phantoms website. Order not found. Weird. I call customer service and they say they shipped my package back to Clearly because I wasn't home! Are you kidding me? They are rude, unhelpful, and the only delivery service I know that doesn't know how to use a concierge desk. Avoid at all costs.

Very little is at the bottom end of Hornby Street now, as this is mostly a Monday to Friday business oriented street with office buildings, as most retail places (the Channel store as an example) have shut their doors due to lack of traffic. This little store tries to do it all, with your fridge of soda and energy drinks, your loads of tobacco needed for those work breaks, a lotto ticket (for the dreamer in all of us), and now they even offer passport photos (since Sinclair is right around the corner) and dry cleaning (for the person who really has everything in fast forward in life and no time). Always greeted by a family of Korean's who run this little shop, it's always a nice experience of a little business trying to survive in the downtown core. They also carry greeting cards, and other odd trinkets like a dollar store.

But last year I needed a key cut and I noticed a sign offering key cutting services, so I popped in to Jubilee Smoke & Things during my break, as it is fairly close to my work. The employee (who is probably the owner) was polite, and my key was cut quickly, no problems at all. Yesterday, I once again needed a couple of keys cut, so I went back to Jubilee as I knew it would be quick and easy. Once again, no issues at all. Both times the employee/owner said that if there's a problem with the keys, to come back and she'll redo them, but no need; the keys were just fine. Each key was $3.50. I'm not sure what the going rate is to get a key cut, but $3.50 isn't outrageous for material and labour!

The ship is just the right size for an Alaskan cruise. Buffet food was decent and the crowds were manageable. You will have less kids on an Alaska cruise as opposed to a caribbean cruise . Shore excursions are some of the most expensive in the cruising world. Always bring at a minimum a rain jacket and sweater/warm jacket. there is an indoor pool to use and a gym. Other amenities include basket ball area, 50 seat theatre, library, spas, casino, iive performance theatre, bars and many other things that should keep one occupied throughout the cruise. An inside cabin room for 2 should cost around 4000 and up for 2 depending on add ons and gratuities. This would be a good starter point for those who are new to cruising. Check out youtube and search under RCCL Radiance of the Seas for detailed videos and cruise blogs. As the ship is very good, it would obviously take a newer ship with all of the latest tech , facilities, amenities, and toys to make it a five star. That being said, I would not hesitate to book a cruise on this ship. As a matter of fact, we are taking another Alaska cruise on the sister ship "Radiance of the Seas" at the end of August.
