On August 23rd, I had to say good-bye to a companion. My beautiful dog Chloe ( 14 years old) Just a few days before she was jumping up on my couch watching me on the comp. She was my "listener" when dealing with politics in this county. Some of us are fortunate to be able to come home to someone...Chloe was my someone...and I miss her a lot...she forgot to wake me up this morning. She was beautiful, intelligent and almost as stubborn as I am. She lost the use of her hips and still came in to say hello several times a day...dragging her back legs. It was time to say good-bye. I spent two days thinking about what I wanted to do, how to say good-bye while making sure she wasnt scared. I chose to have a vet come to my home (our home.) All week long people came to say good-bye...Chloe had her own following (she was a greeter in our neighborhood--she watched many children grow up here as they stopped to say hello.) I chose Dr, Sara and her husbands to come into our home to help ease her pain and to move on. They were wonderful. They were so loving towards her--respectful to her needs. I have more to say about how they took the time to care for a life that they just met. But first, how they treated me as a person mourning a dear family member. I dont need boxes of ashes, metal tags, or Chloe s toys to remember her... Dr. Sara brought in a box of small trinkets when it was over...I chose a small stone blue heart. It was exactly what I needed. When it comes time...please look into a vet coming into your home. I recommend Dr. Sara and her husband. Craig ( Dr. Sara s husband) was remarkable as he gathered us together to begin the process--he told us we were going to have a party --a celebration...Chloe was to have any treats she wanted...and was surrounded by people petting her... Both Dr. Sara and Craig talked us through every moment of what was happening...and I will be forever grateful to them...for allowing Chloe the opportunity to pass over in her own home. I am promoting this couple as a choice for when the time comes to say good-bye to a beloved pet. They came into Chloe s home and truly treated her with the dignity she deserved. It's been a week now since we said goodbye to our kitty girl. We've had her for almost 14 years. So, when her health started to decline very rapidly over the last week, we both knew it was her time. She was telling me in her own way it was time to go. She never liked going to the vet, and I didn't want her last memory to be filled with stress and anxiety, that's when I found Dr.Sara. Booking the appointment was easy, I sent a text very late in the afternoon on Labor Day and Craig responded shortly thereafter. The appointment was made for the next day. My girl was laying by the front screen door enjoying the late morning when they arrived, she wasn't fazed by a stranger coming up to her - which she usually bolts. Dr.Sara was very quiet and calm, and my girl even let her touch and pet her, so not her personality. After several minutes of talking quietly and gently petting her, Dr.Sara gave her the first of 2 injections. She not only comforted my girl during this time but me as well, which I truly appreciated. Once my girl was sedated, Dr.Sara gently picked her up and moved her to our living room and gently laid her down on her favorite blanket. There she was given the final shot to which we were able to love on her while she quietly slipped away. After she was gone, Dr.Sara and Craig were just as gentle and caring for her body as when she was still with us. We have a lost a few pets over the years and I wish I had known about this sooner. We had our German Sheppard mix Charlie for 15 years and couldn't imagine going to the vet, which Charlie absolutely dreaded, and having him take his last breath there would've broken my heart for the rest of my life. She first gave him a shot of pain medication which was such a relief for Charlie...you could tell he wasn't in pain any more and then let us decide when to give him his life ending shot. He never felt any pain and died in our arms. It was the hardest most grueling decision I've ever had to make. These people made that experience a beautiful memory rather than Charlie at the vets office. I should have made this review a long time ago because they made the passing of our pet an experience that we will be thankful for the rest of our lives. A million thank you's aren't enough. We are SO grateful for finding Dr. Sara! She is an absolute angel! She was so thoughtful and caring. You must text her if you are in need. Worth every penny. We've had to put down three cats over three years now (all due to old age issues) and BY FAR calling Dr. Sara was THE BEST decision we've ever made! Our regular vet was very good with the other two, BUT the BIG difference was not having to stress EVERYBODY out by putting him in the carrier and make the car ride, which they all hate. Dr. Sara came to US. We didn't have to disturb our old cat at all. The sedative gently let him go to sleep, then she gave him the euthanasia drug and he passed peacefully. After a year of doing everything we possibly could do to spare the life of our very special cat, Skooter, the day came when we had to make the difficult decision to help him go. We were dreading the day we would have to put him in the carrier, which was always a fight. Drive him a car, which was never an enjoyable experience for him. Although Craig told me they were booked up for that day he called me back with some extremely valuable advice that helped my dog feel better and make it a few more days to allow myself and my family process the severity of the situation. Our amazing dog had terminal cancer. We made a decision to let him pass before he got any worse.
