Everything within the grounds of the park are wonderfully maintained, and provided a very pleasant outdoor space. The park is also located conveniently to town, the Coast Fork Food Stand, and the Mining Museum. Go have a fun day in Cottage Grove!

The maps are faded and useless on the trial. They also drop out and non-existent for the second half around the lake. When the RR trail ends, you take the Shoreview Dr., which shares the road with cars. Even though it is newly paved it has not settled and still gravelly. There are some uphill sections along the main road and not as scenic. It reconnects with RR trail at Mossy Park. Start of the trail is across from Bohemia Park. To view most of the bridges you have to go off the trail. I thought you would ride into them but that is not the case.

Do you enjoy dipping your feet into cold water on a hot summer day? Or how about swimming among giant redwood trees? If any of this sounds appealing you need to visit Sweet Creek Falls. We came in the middle of summer and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon hiking, meditating, and swimming. There are 11 waterfalls ranging in size and close to 2.5 miles all together of shaded trails to explore, rustic bridges included. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Oregon last summer. Know before you go: Parking lots at each trailhead. Super stinky bathroom located only at Homestead Trailhead. Dog friendly. And most importantly FREE! *Don't be surprised to see topless women swimming. We all have breasts and it's a beautiful thing to be free especially in a place like this. If this bothers you just look away. *Don't use Yelp directions as they'll take you to the wrong place. Use Google instead. I've reported this several times but like nearly everything I report Yelp ignores it. And Happy Earth Day! If you haven't discovered what nature can do for your soul I highly recommend getting away from the daily grind, turning your phone off, and just enjoying what places like this can do for you. It's truly magical.

There are so many photo opportunities. Many different bridges along the trail allow you to walk over the water. There is a part of the trail where you have to walk through a small stream. I wasn't wearing the proper gear and didn't want wet shoes and socks, so we headed back at that point and headed towards the upper parking lot. The upper trail still had snow on the ground, and the parking area was pretty soggy. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We would love to come back again during a drier season. A Beautiful Return to a Place Full of Nature and History…read more Both my wife and I had visited this spot before when we lived in the area, so with a little time to spare before lunch nearby, we decided to revisit it with her son and daughter-in-law. Nestled on a forested butte just east of the University of Oregon in Eugene, this area is absolutely stunning. The rhododendron garden is especially beautiful, offering a peaceful and scenic escape that feels tucked away from the city. Beyond its natural beauty, the area is steeped in history. One of the most notable connections is to Steve Prefontaine--a legendary runner and seven-time NCAA champion for Oregon. He trained in and around Hendricks Park and tragically passed away in a car accident on a winding road just below the park. His legacy lives on not only in the running world but also in the early success of Nike, where he became the brand's first sponsored athlete and helped elevate it to global prominence. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or just looking for a quiet place to explore, this area is well worth a visit.

Hendricks Park is one of those places that I knew was around town, but never visited until after I…read moremoved away and came back to visit. I grew up in the Cal Young area or Santa Clara, so I wasn't very often in this part of town and though Eugene isn't a huge city, you can easily not hit other areas of town. Hendricks Park is the oldest park in the city. It's mostly known as a rhododendron garden, but it has native plants as well. There are trails throughout for you to explore the place. It's really peaceful and beautiful when the weather is nice, and you'll forget you're in the city.

The layers of lush vegetation can be a lot of fun identifying the local plants. My boyfriend and I had a beautiful morning just enjoying the beautiful site. One day we shall return because this is where our affair began and it is a marking point for both of us. It was clean and peaceful and I suggest to put it on your bucket list to explore. We stopped off yesterday, actually to go to the rest stop adjacent to the park. The rest stop was a…read moretad dirty though, so we drove across to the park to stretch instead. The park is attached to the rest stop via a path...a pretty stretch of grass with a small stage (?). It has restrooms, although we didn't use them so I can't speak to their cleanliness. The rest of the park area looked slightly un-tended to, but not dirty. There's a play area and tennis court, as well as a few picnic tables and a decent amount of parking. The river runs along the back side, and there's a nice bridge across to continue on to a marked trail on the other side. Lovely river and bridge, beautiful trees all around...a nice setting really. The park looked like it needed a little tending to, but a decent place to stop off and stretch the legs.

Otherwise, it's a nice little park with plenty of grass, easy walking/hiking on a beginner all ages friendly path along the river and easy access to the clean, clear, green Willamette River for fishing. There's a bridge across the river, and some big rocks adjacent, for some relaxing river watching. Banners advertise summer concerts at the amphitheater. Also, this park is a good spot to wait for someone riding down Larison trail. Park is closed when dark.
