Summary: I highly recommend Benny's, especially the…read morehalf-pound burgers, particularly on Mondays (12 Zł, or $3). As soon as you walk in you'll know you're in an American-themed restaurant by its red checkered table cloths, license plates on the walls, and comfy leather booths. There were many great things about this restaurant, which we really want to succeed. That's why I'm writing the first review. And according to the waitress I am the first American to visit (but not the first foreigner; a Japanese person ate there last week). Pros: -The plain hamburger. It's 200 grams/7 ounces (almost a half pound), served on an authentic sesame seed bun, and comes with a serving of coleslaw and a red plastic basket (also authentic) of fries. -The fries. They are not the super thin McDonald's fries and not steak fries but something in between. I really like their shape and texture. -The price. On Mondays that half-pound burger and fries is 12 Zł, or $3!! -The location. For those taking the train to or from Katowice or Kraków, when you leave the train station, turn right, walk 200 yards to the end of the street, and the restaurant is right there. -The parking. There is easy parking on the side of the restaurant. -Outdoor seating. Although we sat inside today, the outside seating looked nice as there were probably 5 or 6 tables with big umbrellas. -Bottomless coffee. Although we didn't take advantage of that typically American custom today, we will when we go for breakfast. Needs Improvement: -Service and food were a bit slow considering there were only 4 filled tables when we came in. -Fries should be salted. (I'm not nitpicking; I worked at a hamburger place during high school). -The nachos were good but not authentic. On the positive side, I'm really impressed that they nailed the red, white, and green condiments for the Mexican flag. However, instead of red salsa they served dried tomatoes; instead of thick sour cream they served runny garlic sauce; and instead of green guacamole they served some sort of premade green cheesy sauce. If they want to take their food to the next level, they should make those changes to their condiments. In short: Come on out to Benny's and give it a try. There's something for everyone in terms of food, drinks, and prices. I recommend the hamburger.
