Great highlands location (yes, it's in one of the bar heavy zones, so if that's a negative, go on a weeknight, but I've never had trouble getting in, finding parking, etc.). Service is friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere is kind of a relaxed vibrance...there'll be some lively tables and some quiet date night style spots steps apart on any given night, and everyone is happy with their own thing. Nice little patio space when the weather is good. Having the buried the lede, I'll of course comment on the food and drink--all around excellence. The cocktails are creative and delicious (the golden hour, I think it was called, is one of the most unique and enjoyable sips I've had in a while...not often I see turmeric in a drink, and perhaps less often that it hits, but this is a refreshing and tasty gem of a cocktail). Nice wine selection, with a few you're not going to find elsewhere. The dishes vary by season, but I've yet to see one miss (didn't love the burger myself, but others I've dined with have, so maybe was just an off night for mine...have always loved seafood and pasta options here). Met friends here for a weeknight sit down dinner and each of us were fortunate to find free street parking nearby on busy Bardstown Road. Entrance into the restaurant is lovely and unique with a semi-enclosed winding path leading to the door, as well as multiple cozy seating areas to relax while waiting or perhaps linger after. We were seated upon arrival and within view of the semi open kitchen, which was bustling. We ordered drinks and shareable starters of crispy Brussels sprouts and glazed carrots, which were delicious and prepared well. Appreciated the presentation. Let's start with the positives, the building is tucked away and reminded me of somewhere in Europe. The restaurant and bar are cozy and have nice lighting. We grabbed cocktails at the bar before dinner, one of us ordered the "hot and buttered" and the others ordered the "partridge in a pom tree". The hot and buttered cocktail was delicious and would make a lovely dessert. The other was okay, didn't have a wow factor for me. Our waitress (wish I remembered her name) was helpful and friendly 10/10 service. I ordered the burger and fries, the burger was juicy but tasted really salty, the french fries were tasty. Another person in the group ordered the duck, it was a small portion with a few pieces of root vegetables, it was a bit disappointing. The risotto with chicken was a nice portion but also salty. While the building is really neat looking, it's really hard to hear others in your party unless you're sitting right next to them. The food was mixed, for the price I expected a bit more. Located next to the Myriad Hotel sits Paseo. What brought us here was the Bark Crawl hosted by PG&Js dog park bar and other places. It was $10 donation to the Arrow Fund for a Pawsport as it was called. My friend and I didn't know what to expect but, we had to collect stamps for all places to be entered a drawing for one of many gift baskets. Paseo was on that list. It's a very nice upscale restaurant and we both felt under dressed lol. Between Paseo and Myriad sits a very nice only 4 feet deep pool. We were very much wowed by the place and we did go inside the restaurant/bar and got our stamp. We weren't required to buy a drink at each place and we didn't here. This is an interesting location, tucked away past the pool club in another building it feels almost like you're going to an exclusive club. The overall atmosphere/ambience is solid. As for food, most of what I tried was good. I ordered the Spanish Risotto, my spouse the linguine. We dined with other family and friends and most of us enjoyed our food for the most part. The risotto description suggests a protein add on of shrimp--which I ordered. However, my server came back shortly afterwards and noted that the shrimp was "bad" and therefore being tossed out. I subbed Italian sausage which wasn't bad. This was just after I ordered a "zombie dust" IPA (which I had been happy to spot on the menu, a beer I enjoy and haven't had in awhile)--which they were also out of. Considering there are only 2 beers on tap (and 1 cider), it seems like they perhaps should keep an eye on what is in stock. I opted instead for a bourbon--and I will credit them for (like many Louisville establishments) a large whiskey menu (and for solid, 2.5 or so ounce pours). The appetizers we ordered were all okay. All in all, I'd say this my experience was a solid 3 bordering on 3.5. I have a feeling it's usually a 4 ("great" in my book) and if you're in the right mood with the right order I can totally understand a 5 being in order ("perfect"). But given that they were out of so much early in the evening and the menu itself is fairly succinct, and that for the price point it's not quite "mind blowing", I reserve a higher rating for a better future experience. read more

When we were handed the menus, we were confused because it didn't have many of the items that were listed on the menu online. We just moved to Louisville from Los Angeles, and didn't know what to expect. We walked by a few times and the architecture looked very cool, so we finally made a reservation. Came early on a Friday over a holiday weekend, so it was pretty quiet in the restaurant. Most folks were sitting outside by the pool but we chose to sit in the beautiful dining room. Service was impeccable, the Welcome Cocktail was perfectly spritzy, and apps were by far the stars--pickled strawberry salad and the hummus brûlée. I came for dinner with a friend and loved the ambiance. This is a cool spot to go get a drink and chat with friends. The outside area is great for warm days. Our server was great and helped to recommend drinks and food. We got the hummus and ricotta balls for an appetizer. The hummus was good but needed a little more salt. The ricotta balls did not have a lot of flavor. You had to dip in the marinara sauce to get flavor. I got the fish special for my entree. I would have never known it was here, but was pleasantly surprised. We made reservations months in advance since we dined with a group of eight right before the holidays. I wasn't able to make a reservation online but when I called I didn't need a credit card to secure the reservation, which was a plus. The table started with the hummus brûlée, which was creamy and lite and absolutely delicious. Must order if you go. The group ordered a number of different dishes including fish, scallops, chicken and steak. I ordered the wood fired chicken and it was moist and plentiful. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was juicy. The table also ordered the grilled carrots and broccoli, the sides were okay but the entree and hummus was the real show stealer. Ambiance is gorgeoussss can't believe I was still in Louisville. Service was great, the server had great recommendations and was knowledgeable about the dishes. The salmon was scrumptious! Cooked to perfection. Air fried my leftovers the next day and it was still really good. Seafood paella: our shrimp slid off the skewer by mistake but still a stunning presentation and totally shareable. Very flavorful. Hummus brulee: interesting take on hummus (I'm Arab so traditional hummus is a staple). Thicker than i thought it would be, flavors I'm not used to, but still good Labneh: I love labneh, usually with olive oil. This was another interesting take. The bread had zaatar on it. Still was pretty good. Especially with the veggie crudite (fresh sliced carrots, bell pepper and radish) I'd come here again. I thought our dinner at Paseo would be good, and Paseo more than met the hype. We were so impressed by how delicious, creative and thoughtful the whole experience was. It's been a few weeks since I dined here, and I'm still thinking about it. To start with, the ambience. Paseo is a part of the brand-new Myriad Hotel. I loved walking through the entrance on Baxter Avenue into the courtyard, the pool up ahead in the right, with the restaurant on the left. It feels like you're leaving the hustle and bustle of the Highlands a bit. We were able to easily get a reservation for early in the evening, and our table was ready when we arrived. We started with the hummus brûlée. Warm hummus was a good treat. And our waitress was nice enough to bring us extra bread. We ate every bit! For my entree I got cacio e pepe. Wherever I see this on a menu, I gotta get it. And this was pretty excellent. It was simple and beautifully executed, very filling. Dessert was the star of the show for me. The lemon bar on toasted marshmallow was a showstopper. And their soft serve -- a house specialty -- is the best soft serve I've ever had. The flavors change, and when we were there, they were basil and blackberry. I know, sounds odd, but truuuuuuust me. Get it! Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Tucked away off Baxter, attached to a little hotel. Reservations are strongly recommend. We arrived on time and choose to sit outside. It's right next to the hotel pool, so if people are out there, it could be a little busy or noisy, but it was fine for us. Service was great from the start - DH has several allergies and they were able to give us a menu marked with what he could eat with no concerns and still lots of options. We started with the beef tartare and squash salad. Both were very nice, reasonable portions (although beef was maybe sightly higher cost for value). Squash was perfectly tender and flavors very well balanced. Next was cacio e pepe for me and lamb burger for DH. The pasta was covered in a lightly grated "funky" cheese that I thought was amazing, but not to everyone's taste. The burger, slightly modified for allergies, was a little overcooked, but still great flavor and the cheese on top gave it a nice juicy mouthfeel. We also liked the freshly chopped herbs on top of the fries. We finished with the lemon bar fit dessert. Again, knocked it out of the park on flavor - not too sweet unless you added the toasted marshmallow under it to your bite and real rose petals. For drinks, they have several NA cocktails and we went with the margarita. Nicely tart and totally reasonable for pricing. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner, one of our favorites so far in Louisville! read more

Beautiful new spot in the ridiculously cool Myriad Hotel (a former disco ball factory space!) in Louisville's charming Highlands neighborhood. Evoking a sense of Spanish/Mediterranean flair, you enter through a charming little breezeway area, continuing on into the airy restaurant. Love the high ceilings and all the plants. It can be a bit smoky inside due to the wood-fired oven... if that's a problem, just sit outside overlooking the pool! Service is outstanding. The bruleed hummus with onion jam and wedges of Turkish bread was delicious, as was the flavor-bomb harissa cauliflower. Yum. The only knock was the wagyu beef loin, which was undercooked and surprisingly (disappointingly) tough to chew. Everything else was great, though! This amazing new find is BY FAR my new favorite place!!!!! I was so excited that I was encouraged to try it out early in their inception! What once was a disco ball factory is now the HOTTEST spot in the highlands. First of all, the vibe, the decor, the layout, the menu, the staff, is spectacular! Every moment of our experience was a delight. We started with octopus, ricotta balls, and brûléed hummus. THESE are a MUST!!!!! I don't even like hummus and I want to live in this! We tried a few cocktails on the menu and even one that they don't offer - it was fruity and delish. Literally - that's what they call it until they decide to place it on the menu. We decided to share the duck paella. This. Is. Delish. Very easily shared. My only issue was the fact that the duck foot was still attached. I'm sure it is appreciated by some, and didn't affect my opinion of the overall dish - but If it would weird you out, I'm sure they would be willing to remove prior to serving. I literally cannot wait to go back and venture into more dishes. What's even more exciting is the boutique hotel in the works, and the BEAUTIFUL pool area that anyone (hotel guests/outside guests alike) are able to reserve chairs at with food/beverage service. We went here for dessert. We had the tahini (?) cheese cake and, for $14, got a dessert we barely understood that was barely there. It had two small triangles of "crust" sitting opposite sides of a pool of a creamy substance topped with what seemed like 1/3 of a shredded what biscuit pulled apart and dropped on the cream puddle. The triangles tasted like halva. The very small portion of cream tasted like cheesecake and lasted about 4 scrapes of the plate with your spoon. The shredded wheat or whatever that was had no distinctive flavor. If you like minimalist, snobby, emperor-has-no-clothes food, this is your place. Positive: staff was very good, attentive, nice. I ordered the parfait that had orange marmalade, chocolate and pistachios. I first was shocked by the presentation because I was expecting a typical parfait. But the shock wore off as soon as I took my first bite. It was definitely an elevated parfait. All the flavors complimented each other perfectly. It was so good. I could have ate 100 parfaits. First I have to say how amazing the entrance is! You get to walk through an amazing courtyard that leads you to the restaurant. I absolutely love the decor and the open concept kitchen. Started off with a couple of drinks from the bar that were very yummy. Hubby got the bourbon drink while I went for the more tropical rum drink. For an appetizer we got the crispy ricotta balls. They were a surprisingly light starter sitting in a delicious puttanesca. For dinner the hubby got the halibut, he said it was a little more done than he would have preferred, he said it was good but not sure he would get again. I got the wagyu beef loin and thought it was delicious, I loved the sauce! I would get it again for sure. We also got the squash for the table, it was really good. Hubby said it was the star of the show. They offered dessert, but only had ice cream or lemon bars. We were pretty full and decided to skip dessert this time. The first thing I noticed about Paseo was the design. The exterior transported me back to Los Angeles or Palm Springs. The interiors also replicated similar designs of Southern California modern restaurants. I was late to my reservation but the staff were still incredibly nice. I apologized profusely for being late.
