There is no school in Houston like The Post Oak School. It is a rare and special gem, and we are…read moreso grateful to have found this amazing place of learning, community, and kindness. We have been part of the school for 10 years and have experienced multiple classrooms and grade levels across 3 children who each started in the Young Children's Community (as toddlers). Our eldest is on the verge of entering the Middle School, and it is clear that her experiences at the school thus far, along with the experiences of our other children, have established a deep love of learning, curiosity, self motivation, and innovation. It is such a special place. If you are looking for a place where your kids can both excel academically and also understand the importance of kindness, gratitude, and service, this is the school, and it is without equal.

This is a great school for pre-K through Middle School. When I first learned about this school, I…read morecould not believe I hadn't heard about the amazing Montessori method before. As a member of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), this school is one of the top. The children learn thorough academics, develop a true love of learning and exploration, and become very independent and responsible. "The Post Oak School is an educational leader both among Houston's top private schools and among the more than 5,000 Montessori schools across the country. Post Oak serves students from age 14 months through 8th grade, and is one of the U.S.' oldest Montessori schools (the oldest in the Southwest and one of only three Houston AMI schools). It has attracted an accomplished team of faculty and staff and built a campus dedicated to learning. The Post Oak School helps shape consistently high achievers."

It's really exciting to be a part of such changes. It's especially amazing to experience such changes from the aspect of a young student, a community member, and an employee!

Today, my child was sent home from school due to an issue with his facial hair. I was initially…read moreunder the impression that the school's focus was on education, not appearance. However, I was informed that he was required to trim his facial hair, which not only contradicts our religious beliefs but also infringes upon the First Amendment rights of religious freedom that every religious American has in public schools. Policies should not be altered based on the perceived future of a generation. Instead, schools should prioritize more pressing concerns. While attire is understandable, facial hair removal is an extreme measure that should not be imposed on individuals. It is disrespectful to the values we uphold when the system designed to support our children's success is instructing them to remove their facial hair. This policy appears biased, as I have observed faculty and staff with facial hair and numerous board members who also have facial hair. Therefore, I intend to address this matter with the board of trustees on September 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

If you are looking for great education, AVOID the PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM. They are extremely bureaucratic, slow to change, and students don't get the best education. The district spends too much money trying to accommodate illegal immigrants and they hire assistant teachers for them instead of using their resources wisely to give the students that are US citizens the best education. If you apply for a job, it can take months to finalize the application process. The Human Resources department is not responsive. They simply don't care. The administrators just work for the paycheck. Aside from the beautiful new building, I cannot imagine a reason why anyone would want to go to this school. The students are overstressed with too much technology and have no physical books. The school knows that the students cannot learn as well without books, but they still don't care to do anything about it. Teachers cannot teach creatively because they have so much administrative work. The school district does not respect employees limits, boundaries, or personal time. it is common for teachers to work, evenings, weekends, holidays, and while on vacation. I cannot recommend this school district to anyone.

The whole system for how children get home -- bus riders, car riders, etc, is *not* change-of-plans-friendly, but I suppose that's the world we live in now. My kids are happy, and engaged. Thumbs up.
