The cashier that waited on me was friendly, informative and efficient. The aisle at this location looked rather narrow, but functional. The Christmas aisle looked empty and slightly messy. They didn't have as much selections for Christmas hats and decoration here as the one in Southfield. Their holiday, Christmas party decorations were rather picked over. I was still able to find the snowflake plastic table covers I was looking for and a larger Santa hat. Exchange went quick. read more

This Party City is the BEST location downriver! All of the staff is well knowledgeable and helpful. The cashier I had didn't mind helping me out with a bunch of questions I had. The balloon inflation process was daunting to me at first, but once the staff walked me through how to pick out the balloons, it was awesome! I said it in my quick tip and I'll say it again here--I can no longer walk in here without thinking of RuPaul's Drag Race. Although on RDR they use "go back to Party City" as an insult and I have to highly disagree with that assessment. Because Party City is the 'ish. It helps me serve up some theme party realness. Having the job that I have I come to Party City, and this particular location, on the regular. They have a great selection of paper goods (plates, cups, table cloths, etc), as well as decorations, prizes, balloons, costume pieces, etc etc. I can usually find what I'm looking for or, at the very least, am inspired to do something else just by walking around the aisles. A lot of the time I bring a list with me and end up going off it and just picking up what seems to fit my theme/mood/vision. LOVE! They have a stellar collection of balloons (who doesn't want a 3 foot hello kitty for their birthday?!) and rent out tanks which has made my party throwing life pretty easy. Also, big ups to their balloon ties that are pre-ribboned. J'adore! Yes, I love me some Party City. I'll gladly go back there, Phi Phi O'Hara. No shade. read more

Very disappointing experience here that will make me think twice about whether I should purchase anything from Party City as a whole. To start, I purchased two items online that I needed for a costume. That part was pretty successful, as they had emailed me that they had the item ready for me to pick up pretty quickly. I went the following day to pick up the items and when I got there, they did not have the items ready for me. The reasoning was that someone else picked up the same costume items that I did and mistakenly gave my bag away to someone else. They got my items together and gave me my bag after I showed my online order confirmation. A few days later, I tried the items on to get ready for the event I was using them for. One of the items was a wig and the other was a leather jacket. The jacket fit great, the wig though, did not look like the picture at all and looking in the mirror at how it was sitting on my head, it looked like it had been used and stretched out. I barely made it work for the event that I went to and was able to bobby pin most of it together but it still didn't look good at all. I went back a couple days later to return it, because on my online receipt, it showed that if anything was wrong, I could return it. This is where the worst of the experience happened. For some reason, the wig was marked down drastically. I paid about 22 dollars for it and I was only credited for 5 dollars. To top it all off, it was for a store credit, which I don't think I will be using. At other stores in the past, I've returned things that I wasn't satisfied and received a full refund back to my card. I don't know what changed, but obviously I wasn't planning on returning anything because I was expecting the quality to be exactly what I wanted. read more

Good store for themed party decorations and dinnerware. The plastic utensils and cups are not cheap either. It's been a while since I've hosted a party and I stopped in to buy food serving utensils and dinnerware. The selection was limited and the prices were expensive. I remember years ago this store being the happening place for all your party needs. It now is full of mediocre goods that consumers don't necessarily need. Chain grocery stores sell a lot of party planning stuff too but not for a wide variety of themes. The staff was not helpful when I asked the question "if they sold plastic ice trays" a manager (blonde hair) walked away while rudely telling me she did not sell them here. read more

Imagine ordering something online... getting a confirmation to come pick it up. You live an hour away so it's half your Sunday to go pick it up. When you get there not only do they not have it in stock and "systems may be down" but the manager let the young worker go back and forth from her to me to explain it and when he told her how upset I was she told him that this happens all the time and to tell me that. Andrea.... not sure your last name. Short dark black hair in case there are more than one. You are not a great manager... letting your employee hang while you blew up balloons and did a great job of never making eye contact with me. What a joke. This store is awesome if you're having a themed party. I've found everything I needed for a few parties in the past including Hawaiian luau, masquerade and 80s. You'll find themed tableware, decorations and accessories. In addition to party supplies, they also offer costumes year-round if you need one for an event. The store has party supplies organized by theme, which makes a trip quick if you want to get in and get out. If you're throwing a baby shower, they dedicate an entire aisle to those items. I've also seen tons of children's characters, so this would be a good place to go for Dora/Spongebob/Yo Gabba Gabba, etc goodies. The prices aren't cheap, although they're constantly featuring items half-off such as all paper goods, silverware and plates. You can find solid-colored party goods here, but honestly, you're probably better off shopping for the boring stuff at Dollar Tree. If you're set on having a successful party with a certain theme, I recommend Party City. read more

I went here to get supplies for my son's 4th birthday and it was awful. Beth at this location's customer service or I should say lack of was appalling! She refused to help in any way. I was going to order bouquet online and have it ordered to Allen Park store, and she stated "Don't order offline, or I will cancel your order". I left and went to the Taylor location to get my supplies since Allen Park had slim picking. I had to go back to Allen Park store days later to get the balloons blown up and they told me it is was a $1.99 a balloon to blow up at the Allen Park store. So I bought balloons was told they would be blown up for free, go back to the Allen Park store and was told it's a $1.99 a balloon!? Insane, NEVER will be back again. read more

I went to Meijer and JoAnn's before Party City. To say I was disappointed in the other stores was an understatement. I should have known to come here first because they always have what I am looking for. The very first display I saw had everything I was looking for so I got right in and out! This is the worst place to get what you need. We needed a worker to grab us something at the high shelf, but instead she was roaming around the store. We had to ask her 3 different times, and she isn't even focused. They didn't even have any receipt paper and took a long time trying to fix it. The card screen was frozen. Ordered some candy online for the candy buffet at my sister's baby shower. No issues with online ordering. I had a missed phone call from Party City, no voicemail, but I got an e-mail shortly after telling me my order was ready for pickup. I went to pick it up, was told she tried to call me to let me know some stuff wasn't in stock. I asked if my voicemail was working (I've had some problems with it, so I sincerely wanted to know). She said she didn't think it went all the way through, but mostly people don't listen to voicemail so she wouldn't have left one anyways. What a lack of professionalism, and zero effort to go above and beyond (not difficult, a voicemail is all it would've taken). And my Jelly Beans were obviously either sitting awhile, stored improperly, or both, as they look awful in the bag and will be exchanged. read more

I had placed an order for balloons one day prior online and paid online. Online it said my order would be ready 2 hours before the time I need them which was 6:00 pm. The next day (Sunday) I walk into Party City at 5:35 pm (keep in mind they close at 6:00pm) and I go to the cashier and Nancy had no idea what I was talking about. They didn't start the order or even know about it. I have never met anyone so rude and cruel. She got loud with me and said "do you want them or not??? I don't got time for this." She explained that the balloon order wasn't supposed to be ready until 6:00 pm but the store closes at 6:00 pm. If I had walked in to pick up my order of balloons at 5:59 Pm they would of never been ready either. I believe it's time for Nancy to be either fired or time to retire. When you walk into a party store, you want to be in a good mood but when you see Nancy's old grumpy face and rude demeanor, your mood changes. I'll never come back to this party city ever again. This place is great for everything party, but my only complaint is that it's always crowded during Halloween. They have a large variety of balloons, party favors, and supplies to make your own DIY coustume. The staff are very informative, but the store is a little difficult to navigate. Overall, if you have a themed party or Halloween just happened to roll around, it's a good idea to come here. read more

Since I was placing an order for the future & did not need it for another 2 1/2 weeks, I asked when it would come back into stock & her answer was in a few weeks. She did not readily offer this information or recommend another store or try to provide any ideas. When my daughter settled on another balloon with a blank, she picked letters, but was told that they could not promise it would float. We finally said that we would write on it with a Sharpie. She pointed us to the Sharpies, but then told my 9 year old daughter that she would charge her to use it. I had to ask for one from behind the counter. She did not offer it up. She had a dissatisfied attitude the whole time because she was having issues getting logged into a register, which had nothing to do with us. She made my 9 year old miserable when all she wanted was to pick a balloon for her upcoming birthday party. Her attitude & demeanor was unacceptable.
