I would not recommend bringing little ones here as it packed full & could easily be a hazard waiting to happen with little hands lol. Best children's boutique EVER!…read more This adorable shop is a dream come true. I was looking for a few special things for an as-yet to be born grandchild and found way more than a few things! Not only has the owner brought in locally made pieces (think hand knit sweaters and smocked dresses), but she also carries fabulous children's designers I hadn't seen anywhere else. Beth (the owner) kindly indulged me in my grandmother fantasy, and happily introduced me to some of the great books and games she carries, too. I left with a "Letters to my Grandchild" book - the first of many purchases to come, I'm sure.

She also features clothing made by local seamstresses and knitters. I appreciate being able to support local artisans in this way. For a recent family wedding, she arranged for a seamstress to prepare a bowtie with fabric she helped me select--very generous with her advice and experience! She also has a generous return policy for items that do not work out for whatever reason--unusual for a small business. With so much on line shopping, we are fortunate to have this small shop with a beautiful selection and great service.

First floor is a cornocopia of delights and then there is the basement with color splayed all over in random style. Floors painted. Well at least how I remember it. So I hunted for art supplies in Philly on a whim, and there was a sibling! And wandering around on Yelp, I've found yet another! This A&C S is the smallest of the three that I have been so lucky to visit. There is something to be said for a downstairs space to rummage and roam for treasure. While this one is one floor, it is still a worthy member of the clan. I tried to go for just one or two items, but ended up with a slew of pens and pencils. My only regret was the fact that my carry on was the limit, not the items in the store. The staff were a great balance of attentive and laissez-faire. I like being able to enjoy looking at things and touching things without feeling weird or feeling as though sales folks are going to vulture me. I felt welcomed and a part of the store, but not smothered. Also the staff was friendly with each other but did not ignore a single customer in their reach. I liked that balance.

Retro toys are the shops primary specialty and they are located everywhere, but have good organization. Comics are in well-organized long boxes with most being older books, and they have a wall book selection. They don't carry new pull comics. Some value long boxes were available. Please enjoy a monster packed sandwich at 7's Deli next door if you come here. On to the review of the comic shop...This place has a lot going for it, graphic novels rack with 30% off, tee-shirts, wall comic books (expensive sought after comic books that are fun to look at on the wall) and what appears to be a large back issue stock. I was killing some time and only bought a comic book oversized sleeve with a backing to protect the first appearance of Shadow Moon Premiere issue 23. I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Maybe time I branch out and give the retail store some of my bucks, what is it they say, spread the wealth....or the remaining few dollars we have on disposable income : ) As always people SYOY!!!

What can I say; it's my favorite local comic book shop. Been going here for years but I'm on a…read moreYelp review kick so I can leave this place out! Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place!
