Instead of having the family burdened with additional responsibilities when his time comes- it was great to see him being proactive. And honestly, a huge relief, in my opinion. Back then, and to this present day- he's been living in a facility that takes care of his daily needs. So, when I got his phone call that a representative from Featheringhill Mortuary would make the drive to him and get the paperwork started- pops requested my presence as well. So, I brought this up to my momma- (parents have been divorced for 30 years & actually have a friendship still). And she asked to be present as well, with pops approval. Had a representative not made the visit to his facility- we would have rented a mobility van, which isn't cheap to make such arrangements. The FM representative was patient and forthcoming when it came to explaining services, what to expect when payment is made, and why we would receive paperwork from a life insurance company. Since the arrangements have been accommodated for pops- momma has been interested in getting something very similar to his policy. As the years passed by, I have procrastinated in setting up the appointment for momma. We finally set one up and went to their location. I asked if they could retrieve pop's policy and we can piggyback on his arrangements. The FM rep was patient with momma, who has trouble at times understanding the English language. Her appointment took an hour. We didn't feel rushed at all. We booked our appointment first thing in the morning. Parking lot in the back, with some of the stalls looking very cramped. And off street parking on El Cajon Blvd. I'm most likely going to make my arrangements with FM very soon as well.

Paul, the mortuary director, went far above and beyond anything we expected. From the very beginning, he took on the overwhelming task of communicating with multiple concerned family members, easing confusion and helping everyone stay informed. That alone lifted a huge burden from us. What truly stood out was his willingness to meet our family where we were--both emotionally and physically. He personally visited the home of our loved one and gently guided family members through decisions that felt impossible at the time. Even when there was hesitation or uncertainty, Paul remained patient, kind, and deeply understanding. His knowledge and honesty were invaluable. He carefully explained the realities and consequences of delaying arrangements, but always did so with compassion and respect. In many ways, he became more than a mortuary director--he was like a social worker, helping our family come together, find clarity, and ultimately reach a place of peace and resolution. During one of the hardest moments of our lives, Paul brought calm, dignity, and guidance. We are truly grateful for his dedication and humanity, and we highly recommend Featheringill Mortuary to any family in need of support and care.

Note that the parking is along the street (two hour limit). I doubt they would ticket you, though. You could also park at the Escondido library.

Losing my mom was one of the most painful experiences of my life, but the kindness and care we…read morereceived from this mortuary helped carry us through it in a way I'll never forget. From the very beginning, Thomas and Jodi treated us and my mother with gentleness, dignity, and deep respect. Jodi was exactly the person we needed to guide us through the difficult paperwork and the emotional process of choosing the final items for my mom's goodbye. She made it feel manageable, even when it felt like the world was falling apart. Thomas... I don't even have words for how grateful I am for him. He has a gift, he can read a room with so much grace and compassion. On one of the worst days of my life, he made things bearable somehow. He honored my mom as a vessel that carried her spirit, and he was deeply respectful of our traditions. He's a truly special person, and I will never forget his presence during that time. I hope I don't have to return for a long time, but when the time does come again, I wouldn't trust anyone else with the sacred task of preparing a loved one for the next world. This place and its people are a blessing during such a difficult time.

Joey greeted us and made sure we had what we needed. They had everything ready on time, were very accommodating and the place was immaculate. The sanctuary itself was beautifully decorated, I felt so comfortable, like I was at home. The bathrooms are super clean and smelled really fresh as well. We wanted to serve coffee and some snacks, they had 3 tables ready to go in the back of the room which I decorated and arranged food on. I brought 2 carafes to make coffee in as well as table decorations and some finger foods. It worked out perfectly. Overall, we were all so grateful for everything England Family Mortuary had to offer and the services they provided. They are 3 generations of caring individuals who put a great deal of pride into their work and mortuary. I would use them again in a second. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you offered peace and protection during a very hard time. We felt you were on our side. We're so grateful.

It took me about 5 minutes sitting in my car to get myself together to walk into the door. Once I made it past the front door the staff was amazing. A gentleman that I didn't catch his name expressed his genuine condolences and sat me into a conference room. I didn't have to wait long and Zac came in to walk me through everything. When mom did pass. The arrangements were executed without any hiccups. I am very thankful for their service in our time of need and would recommend them to anyone else that has a loved one that needs arrangements done.

Regardless, I recommend that you take the time to review Care Center's service listings on their website. Honestly, we picked them from a random list of mortuaries suggested by our hospice provider. (The "Care Center" name had some appeal.) From the earliest moments of determining scope of service, we felt like we were in good hands. Megan R. was so incredibly lovely and supportive through the whole process, which was new for all of us siblings. When mom passed, the person they sent to take her from her home was courteous, respectful and warm...and ensured our comfort throughout the process (suggesting we leave the room for certain moments, etc). All paperwork was handled remotely through an online system, so it was easy to facilitate signing of documents without having to go anywhere. When it came time to discuss mom's cremation and disposition of ashes, again Megan came through with all the right suggestions. She was expedient in completing death certificate paperwork and final choices for urns. (again, all done through an online system, so we didn't have to stop other things we were dealing with to go anywhere for this part of the process) When mom's death certificates arrived, and I had the chance to visit Care Center in person, I felt like Megan was a caring friend. And when I decided I couldn't handle dealing with shipment of urns to my siblings on my own, she took over and completed that for me (that part wasn't cheap, but worth it for my peace of mind). If you're looking for a caring and dedicated team to help you through one of the hardest parts of life, look no further and call Care Center.
