After hospitalization and three months of in home nursing care and occupational and physical therapy I was barely able to get around with a walker. After discharge from home therapy and a month of therapy elsewhere I was lucky enough to find Aberdeen Physical Therapy headed by Ian Nagle and with his fantastic assistant Kayleigh. Unlike the mega clinics that pack 15 staff and 50 patients into a shopping center space Aberdeen is a small center with two therapists and no more than five patients at a time. This allows for the personal attention that contributes to the best overall outcomes. On my first visit Ian evaluated me and immediately determined that the greatest impediment to my ability to ambulate was the weakness in my hip rotator. He devised an individualized exercise plan for me and literally "hands on" began working the muscles that were holding me back. Within two weeks I was able to put the walker in the closet and walk exclusively with the cane. Ian and Kayleigh continued adding strengthening activities to my routine until I was able to walk without the cane in most instances. I still use it for longer distances and on rougher terrain. I cannot express my gratitude to this team of caregivers. Rather than Physical Therapists I call them Physical Magicians.

The card says that they will work with my body to make movement easier, relieve, stiffness, and soreness, feel lighter and younger, increase range of motion, and enhance physical and athletic skills. Sounds good to me, and definitely worth a free try. Stretch Zone is in the Publix shopping center. The facility is very clean and there's lots of parking out front. There were four stretch spaces with for stretching David, the general manager, completed my intake asking for contact info & completing a health assessment. I then had a complimentary stretch & discussed stretch plans. David spent :30 stretching my legs, hips & lower body. I gave him feedback re each stretch. I left feeling more relaxed & flexible. There were monthly plans, I signed up for weekly stretches for six weeks. There's an app & a rewards program. I scheduled the next three stretches for the next three weeks, I'm looking forward!

Of course you do need to tell them when it feels good - - and it does! I was upset to learn, from the clinicians, that they make very little money there. They are expected to clock out if there is a break in between clients even though it's their shift. Also, I expected that they would be highly trained but apparently they are not exercise science majors in school but rather they get a one week training by the company. So, while the stretch feels great I think the company could do better.

I guess since they heard my angry message. So I went in. Upon arrival I was checked in, had to pay on the spot before treatment. Never have I done that. But anyway. I was greeted by a gentleman with a badge that said "physical therapist." I asked him if he was a physician? He ignored me. (My dr specifically told me to have one since my procedure was very new and needed someone who could over see my care on site.) He started to ask me questions and seemed to not understand what was going on with my care. I asked again. He finally said no. I asked for the Dr and he told me they don't have one on site at this location! WHAT!!!! ‍ I was beyond livid spoke with the manager, she said you can goto our other location because they have one. I tried not to loose it and told them I'm done here and better not see this come up on my insurance. How can you run a place without a Dr, yes the PT are trained and such but someone needs to over see if something goes wrong.
