Ticket Office & Restrooms, five-minute walk to the entrance gate

The gorge is accessible in both directions again now, however, there's a mask requirement in the gorge. The cost is currently 6€ per adult, 3€ for 6 -17 yo., and 1€ for your puppy. If you're staying in nearby town, guest card will give you 1€ discount for adults (I'm not sure about children and puppies). The Partnach Gorge is a 700-meter-long gorge in the Reintal near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is partially cut over 80 meters deep by the Partnach torrent. The bottom of the valley is about 800 meter above sea level. In 1912 the Partnach Gorge was declared a Natural Monument. The path always runs on the right side of the stream. The gorge has also been open to tourists since 1912. The gorge can be climbed all year round during the day. The Partnach Gorge can be reached easily from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In addition, the path through the gorge is very easy to walk as there are no great differences in altitude to overcome. These conditions contribute to the fact that the Partnach Gorge is one of the most famous and most visited gorges in Germany. During the snowmelt in spring, the gorge can be closed for a short time. In terms of hike: from the Olympic Stadium parking lot (free) to the gorge entrance is about 20 minutes, then about 40 minutes through the gorge, the ascent to Vordergraseck (there are several biergartens/restaurants in this vicinity if you want to have some refreshments) can be done in 40 minutes if you're in good shape--it was surprisingly hard climb for me though. For the further decent to the Partnach, you should plan at least 30 minutes, then another 20 minutes back to your car. That'll be total of about 2 hours and 30 minutes to do this hike. If you don't want to walk to the gorge, there's the horse-drawn carriages to the gorge and back for fee (the price is unknown to me, but I'd imagine it'll be around 5€ per person one way). The one-way regulation is currently lifted and the Partnachklamm can be crossed in both directions. However, passing folks approaching from the other direction might pose you some challenges at times since the pathway is only about 2 - 3-foot wide. It's worth your effort and time if you enjoy experiencing natural wonder.

We'd seen several walking videos of the gorge, so we were very excited to do this hike and see it for ourselves. It exceeded my expectations! 6€ each for entrance. It was a beautiful walk, the gorge is stunning. Would definitely recommend, and would do this hike again and again.

Love it. We do the hike just about every time we go to Garmisch (every other year or so). It's great to see how it changes with the seasons and conditions. Park at the ski stadium and walk to the entrance or at times there is a horse drawn carriage or sleigh that will take you there for about 5 euros. The walk isn't bad. The gorge is well, gorgeous. And the views above the gorge are great too. Takes about 20 minutes plus time to stop and take photos and admire the views to get through the gorge. After exiting the top of the gorge, bear left and up the hill to Graseck where there is a hotel and a couple small restaurants. Somehow the beer tastes better after a hike. I'll admit to not being in great shape, so took about an hour from the gorge entrance to sitting down for a beer. The Garmisch card from most hotels will save you a euro on admission to the gorge. Be aware the upper part of the gorge can be closed when conditions are bad.

A great spectacle if you happen to be in the area. It is a tunneled hike through the alps and you have the river roaring past you on one side and steep cliffs towering high above the walk ways. You have to see this place to believe it. Never seen anything like this in my life and it was truly a magnificent experience. Makes you deeply appreciate the sheer power of nature. It is €3.50 to enter the tunnel one way. It is well worth visiting if you are in the area. We had no idea such a place existed and I am glad we discovered it.

One of the best hikes we've ever done. The pictures do not do it justice! You can park at the olympic stadium and take a quick 20 minute walk over to the entrance. Once you walk through the gorge there's an extensive amount of trials that you can take into the forest, along the river in varying lengths. Depending on what trial you take you can take some gondola's back to the bottom when you're done, or you can hike down on your own. At the end of one trail there's even a restaurant and beer hall onto top of the mountain!

    Amazing place!!

It's a quite a hike from a parking lot which is next to Olympia stadium but it's sooooo worth it! We got there around 11:00am on Saturday and we couldn't find a spot to park. We ended parking our car 15 minutes away to Olympia stadium (by walking) on street. It's 5 euro for adults.

Scenic walk from the Olympic stadium to the gorge.

A must-see if you are visiting Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Words and pictures just won't do it justice. A picturesque 15-20 minute walk from the Olympic stadium takes you to the gorge entrance. Once inside, you walk along a path cut through the side of the gorge. The paths are slippery, but not too steep for the children in our group. There are more advanced hiking trails at both the entrance and exit to the gorge if you want to explore the beauty of the area. We took one of the trails up to a funicular and it took us down about halfway to the Olympic stadium. The kids loved that.

From the site of the 1936 Winter Olympics to the actual gorge. An awesome sight to behold. Well worth the time, money, and effort.

It was a nice day and the visibility was great! Was able to see mountain peaks in different countries. "Stunning views, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff. the experience is worth every penny, especially on a clear day when the breathtaking vistas are at their best. The panoramic views of Eisbee Lake and the surrounding landscape are truly awe-inspiring, making the journey to the top a memorable one." Easily one of the best experiences I've had in other countries. I recommend visiting if you're within 2 hours drive. Definitely worth it!

There are some German words that are more fun to yell than others, and ZUGSPITZE is the perfect…read moreword to yell when you're talking about the tallest mountain in Germany/Austria. Appropriate responses to completing the 15-minute cable car ride to the top of this mountain with a group of 20 other people include: exclaiming, "Zugspitze," taking a deep breath of fresh air, shielding yourself from the 5G towers, vomiting, and/or drinking a beer. Luckily, they offer beer at the top! Why? Because of course they do! They also offer food in a few different settings (Austrian side vs German side, you'll see). If you're feeling super fit and looking for a challenge, you can climb to the top or to the bottom of the mountain using hiking gear. There's a way for visitors who took the easy way up to climb the last bit of the mountain to the apex for a sweet photo op, or you could, like, actually do all the work and grab a beer before you take a relaxing ride back down. During winter months this is obviously a hotspot (or cold spot) for skiing and winter sports. It is still very beautiful and awe-inducing to see this over the summer/fall, and still very cold. If you buy the all-inclusive pass from the ticket booth like my aunt and uncle did, you are given one round-trip ticket to the top of Zugspitze and back, then freedom to ride all of the other cable cars in the area and participate in some of the offered activities (like tobogganing). This is one of those things you have to see at least once. genießen!
