I wouldn't know though, I'm far too much in a daze from just how cute the animals are OMGZDIDUSEEHOWTHATMOUSERUBBEDITSNOSE!!! Ahem. Well, Pets-cetera is no exception - it's chock a block full of the fluffiest rabbits, the squeakiest guinea pigs and a bunch of cheery little birds. It also stocks a good range of small animal feeds and treats, and even he biggest simpering animal loving idiot like myself can find a unique treat to entertain themselves and torture their pets with - like dog accesories and outfits. Worth a visit - even if, like me, you don't own any pets at all...

Even though this is on the small side, the space is managed well and it has a wide range of stock. Ranging from a good selection of animals themselves as well as all the food, treaties and paraphernalia you could ever require/seek to find. The few occasions in which I have been in the staff have always been friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. Since discussing pet shops with other people (and I have a friend or ten who currently own pets...), they have ALL been super positive about this shop too.

In and out in minutes in a good way that is. More the 'I'll dash in to pick up [required item] on the way home opposed to the 'Oh my goodness - run for the door quick!'. The staff are really friendly and ultra helpful with a good knowledge of pet care, products and everything in-between (despite not actually having any pets in store). You'll also find loads of stock packed into a, relatively, small shop. Hence, if you wanted to you could easily spend a good while in here mulling over the high selves with everything from cat and dog baskets to guinea pig exercise toys. Erm, this is where I have to admit that me and the boy drunkenly bought a guinea pig together about nine months ago. Furthermore, it's only been within the past month that I've discovered guinea pig exercise toys exist - for 'fun, health, entertainment and exercise'. Therefore, this is the place where you'll find any pet related supplies you need - or think you need now that you know they exist. The staff are great, the prices and much better than anywhere else I've been and it would seem that they have the tastiest guinea pig food around. Oh, and they have an array of people's personal adverts for litters in the window/door way so you can always have a look over those if you're thinking about acquiring a new pet. You'll also find a good range of very decently priced hutches and cages.

The staff are also really helpful and will keep you right so you won't disappoint. If you've recently got a new critter then the people here are great for advice. Although they don't stock a lot of things for the reptile population they helped my old flatmate get the right materials for her baby corn snake, so whatever animal you have, they know what they're talking about. Even if you need something that they don't usually stock, they can sometimes order it in for you.

We've been taking our Yorkshire Terrier here for 8 years and have always been happy with the quality of her haircut and the quality of her care. Our dog can be a bit of a diva to put it nicely and they are patient and kind and don't rush through the haircut and upset her. If she's having a bad day they will let her go chill out and come back and finish later. I can't stress enough how amazing that is---they care more about the dog's well being than getting the grooming done as quickly as possible. If it takes 2-3 hours then that is what it takes and I love that they put the dog first. They also have washing stations where you can bring in your muddy mutt and wash them yourself. It means you won't have to make a mess in your bathroom and they have everything you'd need. They also offer kenneling, doggy daycare and a full shop on site with food, snacks and other pet accessories. I can't recommend it enough and I'd never think of taking our dog anywhere else.

I live in Broomhill and i never knew this little clandestine garden centre existed. The lead up to the main store takes you up a small passageway of flowers, plants and herbs - it's akin to walking up someone's drive onto their patio; however just a few paces further we were greeted by a friendly "if there's anything I can help you with folks, just ask". We had a wander round the "patio" area looking through the array of foliage they have for sale, noticing that they are actually situated between two houses, as if you are walking around someone's garden (not off putting at all, though). We headed into the main store, our eyes were met with a section covering everything to do with feeding, grooming and playing with pets; again greeted by another friendly gentleman asking if he could help; when you first walk into the shop it's imaginable that the main room is where it all ends, not the case! Round the corner there's a further section up a small ramp that sells cat beds, dog beds, fish tanks, food for all types of pets imaginably etc etc. Coming out of this little annex you come to a further segment of the shop within it concerned with "growing your own" raspberry plants, herbs, potatoes; all types you could think of, from earlies through to lates - again, at this point you think the store has come to an end, but no! a further installment reveals itself relating to all things in the remit of gardening tools. Being a little independent, local garden centre we expected things to be a little more expensive, but no; prices are very competitive - we walked round to Morrisons to compare prices after leaving here and they are more than comparable if not better prices in some sections. On our way out we had a quick chat with the two gentleman that greeted us on the way in, very friendly and happy to give us a quick history on the place (been around for 16 years!!) and what types of products they sell; letting us know they had a bigger place at one point just up the street, but due to the economic downturn is now closed. If you're looking for pet products, flowers, plants, herbs, grow your own vegetable kits, utensils etc - try driving past the big supermarkets and garden centres and give this place a try; quaint, cute, and has a very local and friendly feel.

They sell some absolutely stunning lizards, snakes, spiders and birds, as well as all the slightly macabre things you'd need to feed them, and other stuff for their habitat. They also do trpoical fish, including the Finding Nemo style marine variety which are practically impossible to come across in normal pet stores. The staff are all knowledgable reptile types themselves, so If you're just popping in to try and rubberneck at a python devouring a whole mouse, then you'll be treated accordingly. If you're genuinely interested in these creatures though, then it's an essential visit.

On my visit, I encountered a parrot the size of a small country (or perhaps more accurately, the size of a big parrot) and a gruff member of staff who seemed like he would not think twice about setting a box load of pythons on me if I asked him a silly question. But then again, this is not an exhibition but rather a genuinely well-respected stockist in a retail area which requires knowledge and sensitivity. With a wide range of marine livestock, snakes, lizards, tortoises and basically everything I, personally, don't want in my house, I'm sure staff are more than willing to deal with genuine exotic reptile enthusiasts and less willing to deal with "gonna make the parrot talk mister" time wasters, which must be a regular occurrence. The shop itself has a little of that ramshackle, thrown-together feel which runs through many of the businesses in London Road but I guess that's part of its charm. Indeed it can perhaps be best summed up by the photo on its website of the 475 quid Green Tree Python... ....sitting on top of a Daily Record. Well it is the Glasgow take on exotic after all.
