Back when I was into J-rock and visual kei, I would spend hours thinking of new ways to colour my…read morehair and freakify myself. It's an embarassing stage of my life that I would now like to forget, but I'll say this - if you're into those crazy Japanese haircuts, Sogo will sort you out. Sogo offers some really cool styles for an affordable price. It's no Tony & Guy, and you won't be getting modelling offers for GQ, but you'll definitely get that alternative look if that's what you're looking for. I've come out of this hairdresser with red, purple, blonde and pink hair on many occasions (all deliberate), and though your parents might not agree with the choices you've made, you'll certainly be happy with the job that Sogo did. They also stock the hugely popular Japanese styling brand Gatsby - but it cames at a hefty price. You won't really have much chance of finding these elsewhere, so your best bet is to just bite the bullet and pay up if you won't your hair to be immovable like Pauly D or some Jersey jackass.

Don't come here if you have dark brown hair and want to go a honey hue for the summer. Come here if you want a trim, your fringe cut, a basic layer cut, or if you're a guy and just want your hair out of your face. When I got my fringe trimmed here, there were two Australian guys getting their hair cut at the same time, and the staff were hilarious as they tried to put on Australian accents. I felt like I was in Bali, where they speak in any accent they can to try and befriend you. The busy atmosphere, loud voices and good-natured jokes make this place all the more endearing.
