Probably one of the best restaurants in Des Moines. Good service, excellent cocktails and you don't have to drive 14 hours for good pizza.

I really wanted to like this place. The pizza was close to Detroit style but not quite the. When we asked the manager about different items on the pizza that were not mentioned on the menu his answer was "OH". Trying to figure out the items to order on a pizza we're not listed. You had to look at the menu and pick and choose from the pre fixed options. I don't think we can recommend this place. We do love other places owned by this same group. Our waiter was not helpful whatsoever. read more

We ordered a Detroit style pizza. They allowed us to pick two "flavors"-- which was awesome! We got to try the "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" and "You're so Vain". Both were very good flavor wise. But, the texture was not accurate. I think they should consider cooking the pizza a bit longer. The depth is perfect but the crust is very soggy not crispy. Hopefully, they'll fix this going forward. We tossed the pizza in the air fryer and it came out just right! read more

Food was great, the manager of the bar seems very unqualified for her position. was only focused on a few select people while ignoring everyone else came off very rude and to be quite frank, I could've went and I know for sure the family sitting at the table behind me with the two small children could've also went without hearing the conversations she was having with the select few she was giving her attention to I can only assume that the amount of alcohol shots she was serving herself and one of her waitresses could have possibly contributed to this behavior. very unprofessional definitely not a good look for what seem to be a higher end pizza place... the immaturity and the unprofessionalism was extremely unfortunate read more

Wow. Pizza is awesome. Not normally a fan of thick crust pizza but this stuff is special. Also normally prefer my pizza with tons of meat but this was just really good. Stopped by in the early afternoon, with my daughter who is from Des Moines and had eaten here before. Good beer selection and was very cold. Located in the Beaverdale neighborhood across from Beaver Tap this is a good pizza parlor find. We ordered the cheese curds to start which were delicious made with the white curds and crispy coating (for those of you who need specific details about which curds in particular) and served with a blueberry sauce that paired well with it. We ordered the Proud Mary pizza and it was amazing with crispy cheese edges not too much sauce and thick crust with the perfect crispy bottom. They also have sandwiches and pasta on the menu. My niece got the kid's spaghetti and I tried a bite and it was delicious. The server did a wonderful job and was very pleasant and attentive. The vibe I got from the decor is upscale pizza parlor and I thought it was nice. I will definitely go back and would recommend. read more

I came to Parlor when it first opened- the chickpea fritters! The pepperoni fries, the fried cauliflower! All amazing. Haven't been been back for while, all those great apps are gone sadly. BUT the happy hour menu is a bonkers crazy delicious cheep slice and a well curated beer and wine choice! Seriously, I've had a late lunch of an amazing slice for $3.99 (4 by 8) and a 12oz deep dark chocolate stout and had a check of $7.40. Great pizza with plenty of unique and fun flavors. We tried the 'Jump In The Line' and the 'Here You Come Again'. Both were great and we will be back to try the other pizza flavors! We also got an order of cheese curds which were great and Nashville hot chicken sliders which I was not super impressed by. The chicken was very thin and very dry. Decided to get out on January 13 after a couple of snow days. We had pepperoni Stromboli, Italian club and a cheeseburger. All sandwiches were excellent. Fries good too. Our server who was awesome told us we arrived during happy hour and were able to take advantage of drink discounts that included a Des Moines IPA and Chardonnay. Seriously, go for just the chickpea fritters, the pepperoni fries and the fried cauliflower! So freaking good! We also had the Aint it fun and the Here you come again. Preferred the white pie, oddly enough, and I love a red Detroit pie. Both were fantastic even the next day. The salads look wow! My server was amazing and the manager even stopped by our table to see how our meal was. I love in Beaverdale so I know the parking situation - it is NOT bad and no parking meters, unlike downtown. Only negative was the host stand by the front door had 4 or 5 young women (hosts?Def not servers) just chatting and insta & ticktocking and not doing anything other than chatting up the young men at the bar. They were doing it for most of our visit. Overall, I CANNOT wait to go back! And they have happy hour from 2pm to 5? I just tried Parlor out for the first time today. The gentleman who waited on me was just that and more. He even walked me out! My husband and I shared the Nashville chicken sliders which was plenty for two - they were just what we needed. We wanted so badly to like this new place in Beaverdale. However, we found little to enjoy. The alcohol in my drink was non-existant, even looking at it through the glass it looked like water. We asked for an extra ingredient on a pizza and were told that was not possible. After an hour and 15 minutes I waved down someone of some importance and asked for the check, we were told our pizza was 3 minutes out, about 10 later our pizza arrived. We asked for it to go, so it came boxed as we asked. When we got home, less than a mile away, the pizza was luke warm, it had obviously been sitting. They offered us a free meal, I refused and insisted we would pay. We waited another few minutes and never got a bill, so we left cash on the table and walked out. They did give us a gift card, however, it will not get used. The pizza was a huge disappointment. I will say the crust was very good, but we are old fashioned and aren't into this supposed gourmet pizza. I fear, like many other new places, it will be short lived. The menu lacks enough variety to attract more than a happy hour crowd, and taste is sub par. read more
