One of the agents - Luis Santana - is very nice and accommodating at first (as expected) but very rude once you show interest in an apartment. Right after we applied, he has been nothing but condescending and insulting with his responses to us knowing that this is the first apartment me and my husband are renting. He willingly worked with us and acknowledged that we were both working professionals with little to no time and that we were making a great effort to meet with him in a very short notice (during lunch breaks) and he still got irritated and mad because we notified him we were going to be late and apologized for it. We understood the importance of moving fast and wanted him to get paid as soon as possible because he really liked him. I can understand why he would be annoyed by clients being late, but all of his responses and behavior has been nothing but unpleasant to begin with (besides the showing). He is rude and way too emotional, not a good look. Maybe he's in the wrong field? Not that it matters, but he and his agency won't be getting our business next time which is sad because we had a great first impression and we were excited to refer our friends who are apartment hunting in the same area to him. I hope he ate well with his 50%. There's truly little to nothing keeping people from being great and I guess that's the difference between who makes it to that 1% in Real Estate. What a bummer.

Finding an apartment is very stressful, especially on a tight budget and little knowledge about the apartments in the area. I knew I wanted to live in Astoria but didn't know all it had to offer. I found an ad on Craigslist for an apartment, called the number, and was directed to a realtor named Cinthya (who works for Aida R. I couldn't make our first appointment and I was a little unprofessional in cancelling it originally but still, Cinthya called the following day to follow up and see how my search was going and if I was still interested in the apartments I was supposed to see the evening before. I agreed to meet her that night to see both the apartment I saw the ad for and a few others in my price range. She met me at the train, was kind enough to take me to the buildings in a very clean car, and was immediately welcoming. Cinthya was very personable and professional. She took us to the first apartments (which we were not fond of) and was completely honest/understanding. She predicted I would fall in love with the next and she was correct. We moved forward by moving over to the Aida Realty office where Aida would meet us. Aida was very friendly, professional, and also personable. We sat and got to know each other a little better before filling out some paperwork. She was patient with answering my million questions and moved the process along painlessly. Everyone involved was very upfront with the fees and there were no surprises- their fee for the specific rental was a month's rent- nothing unusual or shocking. The whole process made me feel very at ease and very comfortable- something quite unusual for myself. I definitely plan to stay in touch and continue working with Aida Home Realty.
