One of the nicest places we've booked on VRBO. It was well equipped, down to laundry supplies. Roomy bathrooms and closets. The location is walkable to Bridgette Bar, the river, the farmers market and main street. A dedicated parking spot is included, but beware that it is truly only suitable for a compact car. We had rented a small minivan, and it was a stressful feat to get it squeezed into the space between the concrete post on one side and a vehicle on the other. The office did respond promptly to our call about getting an alternate spot, but none were available. They suggested trying for a spot on the street, but those are very hard to snag. This part of Canmore is extremely busy/congested, and parking is at a premium most anywhere you go. Walking is your best option. Overall, a great condo nonetheless and we would consider staying here again.

Our suite had 1 king bed (very soft mattress) with two closets, a dresser, and a full bathroom. Another room had 2 twin beds (no windows - which was actually really nice for sleeping as it was often light out when we went to bed). We also used the pull out couch as we had 5 people in our party. It was very easy to communicate with the company via text and we really appreciated their speedy responses. We used the hot tub once, which was really nice. Make sure you make a reservation though. We used the in suite washer and dryer a few times as well. Very happy to have that! We took advantage of the parking lot, which was very easy to get to. The only thing that would have been better was another shower. Overall, LOVED this place! Highly recommend!

The lodge website has a lot of helpful info about the different trailheads, hiking vs. helicopter transportation methods, and staying in the Lodge vs. the Naiset Huts vs. Lake Magog campground. + We backpacked in from the Mt Shark trailhead, stayed at the Lake Magog campground, and took the helicopter back out, but you can choose your own adventure. + Lodge guests have extra benefits (that you pay for) including professionally-cooked meals and running showers with hot & cold water. If you're staying at the campground, you'll be bringing your own food, and prepare to embrace your natural smells... but the campgrounds are well-maintained and not a bad choice either. + If you're not staying at the Lodge, you are typically not allowed to go inside the building or linger on the porch area. AFTERNOON TEA AT THE LODGE // + The Lodge hosts an afternoon tea on all non-helicopter flight days (5x/week) on the front porch, open to everyone regardless of if you're staying at the lodge or not. + They had herbal tea, lemonade, loaf cake slices, beer and apple cider, red and white wine, and soda. + The dry apple cider was cold and very drinkable, but maybe not the smartest choice to stay hydrated. Herbal tea was light and I downed it quickly. + The loaf cakes (sold in packs of 3 slices: one chocolate zucchini, one cranberry, one pumpkin spice) were the only non-drink food item they had and sold out the fastest, so get there at 4pm and grab some on your first go. VIEWS & EXPERIENCE // Worth it? Yes. (I highly recommend hiking up to the Niblet and halfway up the Nublet for incredible views of Mt. Assiniboine, Sunburst Peak, and the lakes.)

From the greeting at the lodge, to the meals, to the fantastic guiding, the team at Assiniboine Lodge provides an experience that I will treasure. The rooms in the lodge are cozy. Our bed was comfortable, the pillow was soft, and the duvet was warm. In the morning, coffee is ready for you before the sun comes up. Giving you time to get your first cup as you wait for the sun to warm the peak of Assiniboine -- providing several thousand photo ops. :^) The early breakfast is served in two courses -- one is self-serve with yogurt, muesli, and fruits. Then they serve a hot breakfast -- like pancakes, bacon and soft-boiled eggs. Best of all, they come around with seconds! Then you pack your lunch, and your guide will take you on the day's hike. We did two hikes -- one with Alex and one with Claude. Both were excellent. They kept the pace aligned to the group, and gave us lots of times to enjoy the scenery. Claude also has plenty of stories and information to keep you entertained. I'm not a "bear person", but I was completely comfortable that we'd be fine if we came across one. Heck, I WANTED to come across one by the time we were done our hike. Ironically, there were several other bear sightings that day, and it seemed they were all within moments of us being nearby. The hike is followed by tea time. Tea, coffee, and fresh baking. You can kick back, share photos with the other hikers and enjoy the food and experience. A bit later, and it is supper time. The chef and her team are amazing. We had an outstanding chicken dish one night, and steak the next The supper is fresh and delicious. Again ... seconds are offered up. Of course, this is followed by dessert. Again, outstanding. Ready for bed? Not yet. The sun sets, the stars come out, and once again you'll find yourself blowing off several hundred pictures. What will I do differently next time I go? I'll get a real camera with a better lens and more storage.

Aug weekend (not long weekend), place only had choice of 2 rooms since we waited so long. ~$400/night. Booked Comfort Family room (Temple). Place is easy to find via google Maps. Can park right in front to unload and then there are exactly enough parking spots for each room to have 1 spot. Parking pass given upon check-in. Late check-in (after 10PM) available. Room looks dated but bed was fine. 2 single beds upstairs, 1 queen bed downstairs. TV has Netflix. Shower does not drain. Sink was chipped. Lots of tables, chairs, a desk in the room. Fan in room, A/C was there but with a crank window no way to attach it to the window/prevent hot air entering. Rooftop hot tup was 10/10 great - first come first serve. Opens at 9AM and with checkout at 11AM was able to get 1 more dip in before we checked out. Service was poor. Staff never asked how we were, how the stay was. Breakfast service was short and after she delivered the food never ever came back. She got my order wrong, but since she never came back I didn't have the chance to ask for a correction. Saturday - chai pudding appetizer and then sunny side up egg on 1/2 bagel with cream cheese, fresh spinach, fresh tomato, covered in hollandaise sauce. Sunday was egg bite appetizer with French toast with berry compote. Food itself was decent just wish the service was more welcoming, took order correctly, and easier to make substitutions. Coffee was super weak, orange juice was super weak and tasteless. Variety of hot teas was excellent. No fresh fruit available. Would loved a banana to just be offered or available. Was hoping for a more warming feeling, maybe fresh muffins/cookies, fresh made bread, better service. For the price I'd rather stay a hotel where the attendant actually asks how the stay was and how the guests are doing.

And staying there is no different. We chose to stay in Canmore which is about 20 minutes away from Banff, still very pretty and more affordable. This bed and breakfast offered the cutest home made breakfast every morning and they did have vegetarian options! The food may look plain from the pics but everything we ate was good and just felt very comforting and homey. I enjoyed my stay here, I loved that it seemed like it was family owned and I would definitely recommend others to stay here too!
